Family Celebration and Beating The Griswolds.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

After being retired for Ten Years before going back to work I enjoyed waking when I did and only using an Alarm occasionally. I enjoyed that same feeling this morning sleeping until 8:00.

It was a late evening last night doing the Laundry before returning to write the Blog. This morning we enjoyed having our Fruit Filled Pastries for breakfast then settling in at the Computers long enough to drink our Coffee/Tea. I often wonder why these days are called a holiday when we seem to be overly busy.

Matching Dresses.

We worked together in the kitchen making the Fruit Salad we would be bringing to the Family Celebration this afternoon. Once it was put together it was put in the Fridge so the flavours of the different Fruits would meld together.

Something else that is typical of these Celebrations is that everyone takes home some of the Leftovers for future consumption, so the host is not stuck eating the same food for the next month. Yesterday we were sent home with tart sized Quiches. After only Thirty Seconds in the Microwave, it was like they were freshly made and delicious. Two apiece was enough for our lunch.

Last night I managed to complete our personal Laundry but did not get to doing my Coveralls. Two Pair fit perfectly in these machines and as luck would have it there was exactly One Washer patiently waiting to be used. Since I always double wash then it was past 4:00 by the time I returned with them folded and ready to wear.

Today we drove out to our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa’s house in Amherstburg. Everyone was gathered in the Garage where we have held Celebrations like this for the last Fifteen Years. The food was plentiful as well as tasty with recipes being exchanged.

Kevin mentioned to me the location of a Christmas Light Display that we had to see. After Hugs and promises to see one another soon we headed towards home. We swung through our old neighbourhood in LaSalle, and we could see the Glow when we turned the corner. We used to have an extensive Display ourselves and had been nicknamed the Griswolds. Let’s just say this house out did the Griswolds hands down. It’s a good thing we live in a time of LED Lights.

While I was taking pictures the lady of the house came out to give us Sugar Cookies as a gift for stopping by. Most homes that have Displays like this, ask you to give a donation to a charity to help them out at this time of year.

It felt wonderful reconnecting with Family, but as the saying goes, “There’s no place like Home”.

Look out Griswolds.
