High Winds and Celebration Of Life.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Whenever I shower at night I have a hard time to sleep because it seems to invigorate me so I was up just slightly early this morning so that I could take a shower to freshen up. We had Toasts for breakfast not knowing what time we would be having lunch. We also had time to do a quick peek at our Computers to see The Weather Network along with any messages we might have gotten. The big concern at the time were the 51 MPH (80 KMH) Wind Gusts we were experiencing at the time.

Heading out the door around 10:00 we only had a short drive to the church where Ray’s Funeral Mass would be taking place. We sat in the Car for nearly Ten Minutes until we were lined up for the procession that would get us to the Cemetery. Our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa managed to attend the service as well having driven in from Amherstburg at that early hour. Inside the Church it was again a mixture of some people wearing Masks while others did not.

It was past noon by the time the procession weaved its way across the city of Windsor to Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Since it had rained most of the night the young ladies that had worn High Healed Shoes at the church had changed into more suitable shoes for the soft earth. Even though the Wind had settled down considerably the dampness in the air was felt by everyone.

At the end of the ceremony everyone was invited for a luncheon at the Cabota Club. The luncheon was not served until 2:00 which meant that everyone was so hungry by that time most people overate. There was a Garden Salad, Penne, Broasted Chicken and Broasted Potatoes along with refreshments for everyone. There were several moments that the room grew nearly silent but the rest of the time stories regarding Ray were circulating causing rounds of laughter. It was a real “Celebration of his Life”.

Then a huge Dessert Table with every imaginable Italian Pastry appeared. For those of us that had shown any kind of restraint for the meal lost all control at that point. As people started saying their good byes they were encouraged to take home some of the Pastries in containers that were provided.

It was past 4:30 by the time we arrived back at the Apartment with the furthest thing on our minds being food. After watching the 6 o’clock Local News I suggested having Chicken Noodle Soup as a way of balancing our day’s intake. It worked great until Kathy served a couple of the Italian Pastry she had brought home for dessert.

The Weather Network showed we reached a high of 61 F (16 C) at 3:00 in the morning. By the time we were at the cemetery the temperature was only 45 F (7 C) with moderate Winds blowing.

This next week is going to get busy.

Getting Ready and Still Dealing With Banking Problems.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

I’m starting to notice a pattern that is starting to develop. On days that I get up early to go to the Gym then stay up later before going to bed the next morning I have no problem sleeping in until 8:00. Then it only takes a few more minutes before Kathy notices my absence and comes out to join me.

After a lite breakfast we took our morning Coffee/Tea to the Computers. There were no Job Ads for me to apply for but plenty of Blogs to read. While doing so I received a call from Motor City Community Credit Union. They were verifying that it was okay for the Storage Yard to be using the Automatic Debit. They also informed me that they are not putting in the entire code number so if it happens again it will be denied.

When we went in to dress for the day we also went through the clothes we had in the closet to see if we had proper attire that would fill our needs for this sullen occasion. When it came to my turn I found my Suit that still fits like the day it was purchased Thirty Years ago. (My weight loss came in handy for something.) The only problem was I had no dress Shirts as they are still packed in our Storage Unit.

Since the New Management Company to our building has taken over there have been all kinds of service people repairing Electrical and Plumbing issues. Now it seems they are also refurbishing all the apartments as they become available. There must be a couple of apartments above us that are empty and all we are hearing is pounding sounds as if the Ceramic Tile is being replaced. It was starting to get on our nerves so what better time to go to the Storage Unit.

When it came time for lunch the noise above us stopped so we had Split Pea Soup along with Cheese on Crackers and Grapes for dessert. We took our Hot Chocolates back to the Computers but once they were done we worked together doing up the Dishes. We’d barely finished when the noise started again.

We headed to Guardian Storage where I spoke with Laura about them not getting paid if they didn’t use the complete number. Even though Sarah had entered the full number into their Computer in front of me weeks ago it did not appear to have been changed.

Absentmindedly I had left the Chequebook at home so we stopped at the Credit Union where they verified the numbers that would be needed.

From there we went to Wendy’s Drive-Thru where we used a Coupon to order our supper. This was more then we’ve been eating but we didn’t want to feel hungry later and start snacking. As we ate our meal in the Car the forecasted Rain came down steady for all of Five Minutes.

Back at the Apartment we immediately started getting ready and were soon out the door. We arrived at Families First Funeral Home minutes after 6:00. The attendance was mixed with half wearing Masks and half not. It had been nearly Three Years since we last saw Ray and his memory loss was very noticeable then. What shocked us was how much weight he had lost in that time. Meeting a lot of the Friends of the Family that we knew it was nearly 8:00 before we left.

The Weather Network showed we reached a high of 50 F (10 C) and we will have more Rain overnight.

Good Workout, Sad News and Salad In A Salad.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Being half way through my Cardio Exercise at Planet Fitness before 6:00 in the morning guaranteed that I could complete my entire routine then have a shower and be home by 9:00.

Kathy was already up when I walked in the Apartment though she hadn’t eaten her breakfast yet. That meant we each enjoyed a Toast and had a chance to talk about a few things before moving to the Computers.

I attempted to apply for one Job Ad this morning but each time I tried it would show as an Error. I would later try in the afternoon and have success.

We received some Sad News the other day but waited until the announcement was in the paper. Our son-in-law Greg’s father passed after a battle with Alzheimer. We ordered a small arrangement to be sent on our behalf. Now we have to go through our closet and make certain our appropriate clothes will fit so we can attend the Wake and Service.

For lunch we enjoyed a Greek Pasta Salad along with Mandarin Orange Slices and a shared Date Square for dessert.

Even though her Hand was still bothering her Kathy took her support off for a short while as a way to let her Hand air out. Having taken a total of Three Pills yesterday she noticed an improvement in the Pain Level. Today she only received Two.

I later had to get something from the Car and even though the temperature was above the Freezing Mark the slight breeze seemed to chill you to the bone.

For supper we had a Chicken Salad inside a Garden Salad along with a Yogurt Cup for dessert.

The 6 o’clock Local News reported 8 Active Coronavirus Cases in the Windsor/Essex Region and more about the Ukraine Invasion.

The Weather Network showed we reached a high of 36 F (2 C) today with warmer temperatures for a couple of days.
