Anniversary and Mysteries Solved.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

Because yesterday’s Humidex was still at 97 F (36 C) when we went to bed last night we left the Air Conditioner turned on overnight but even with all the Windows and Vents closed we could hear the heavy rainfall on the roof throughout the night. Once the sound was recognized as the sound of the Rain tapping away on the roof it immediately put us both back into a sound sleep.
This was our completed Flowerbed.
We both were awake by 8:00 this morning and even with the Window Shades all up it was still dim inside the trailer from the Cloud Cover. That didn’t matter though because we both had our Love to light our way. It was Sixteen Years ago today Kathy and I started our lives together as Husband and Wife. Having lost our former spouses neither of us ever thought that we could ever find someone too make us feel whole again but we were wrong. We have found that we compliment one another and feel like someone was looking down on us so we would find each other. We are hoping and praying that we will see at least another Sixteen Years together. Since the morning temperatures were already nearing the Ninety Degree Mark we thought that we’d take a day off from our chores as a way of celebrating and did more reading.
This was the Freshly Planted Burning Bush.
Minutes before noon we were getting ready to go out for an Anniversary Lunch when we walked by our Flowerbed that we had spent so much time nurturing this last week. I happened to be looking down and stopped dead in my tracks looking down at what used to be our Burning Bush. When it matures it turns a Brilliant Red colour. It appeared that someone had taken Pruning Shears and clean cut all the leaved branches off on an Angle. When Kathy saw it she thought someone might have actually cut the branches in an attempt to grow their own Burning Bushes. All the other shrubs in the Flowerbed were untouched.
This was our Burning Bush this morning.
We talked about what kind of thief would do that kind of thing. Even as we enjoyed our Fish and Chips at the Michigan Diner in Essex we continued to mull ideas over and over.
The branches appeared to have been sheared.
We were back at Wildwood Golf and RV Park around 1:30 and had to drive past a long line of RVs that were there to register for the Canada Day 150th Long Weekend. The first thing when we got Home was to get Kathy in the Air-Conditioned Trailer where she could better survive this heat.

I figured since we were hot so were all the plants we had planted so I set about hooking up the hose and giving them a good soaking which also allowed me to further pack the Clay and Grass around the Firewood Patio. I also took the time to add the Garden Hose Splitter into our Water Line ahead of our Water Filters along with a Backflow Valve and Short Garden Hose to our Black Tank Flush. I normally use our waste Grey Water to clean our Black Tank but every so often I need to connect the garden hose to give it a good rinse. Now to Flush the Black Tank it is as easy as turning a valve.
Adding the Garden Hose Splitter before our Water Filters we can
now flush our Black Tank by simply turning the second valve.
While cooling off inside I remembered that we were supposed to get something made for our son Kevin but didn’t know when he needed it. After a quick call to Mellissa to confirm the date Kathy then called Cakes ETC to see when they would be open this weekend. They were closing at 5:00 today for the Holiday Weekend until next Tuesday.
A Southern guest dropping in for a rest.
We were soon out the door and headed to Windsor. We headed over to Seminole Street and were pulling in to the parking lot where Cakes ETC was located in October to find the building Empty. They had moved and didn’t leave anything on the door to say where they moved to. Since Kathy didn’t have the Phone Number with her so we needed to find a Phone Booth to use its Phone Book. Yes, there are still some of them around but you really have to look for them. Four blocks up the street attached to the side of a Variety Store was a Phone Booth. Kathy stayed in the car to keep cool while I found the Phone Number and called from my Cell Phone. I was back in the car when they finally answered. Explaining we didn’t know they had moved they apologized and said they were now Four Blocks up the street from their old location right next door to a Variety Store. You guessed it they were in the same parking lot we were parked in.

We then drove across Windsor to Dougal Avenue to check the location and condition of a Hotel that we’ll be staying in while our Home is in for its Warranty Repairs. We didn’t stop but continued down to Cabana Road and headed over to the Zehrs Super Store on Walker Road to get some groceries. They were selling bottled water at half the Walmart price.
Didn't quite make it Home.
We had planned on grilling a couple of Hamburgers when we got Home but we weren’t even half way when the sky opened up. The Weather Guessers had forecasted a late afternoon Thunderstorm for our area that would last until early tomorrow morning so we kept driving until we reached the Little Caesars in Amherstburg where we got a Medium Hawaiian Pizza to take Home for supper. It seemed like the rain stopped long enough to unload the car at Home but it hasn’t stopped since we stepped inside.

As for who cut up our Burning Bush Kathy went Online after supper and found our that the Burning Bush is like feeding sugar to Rabbits and we have lots of them in the park. The way the branches were cut just goes to show how sharp their teeth are and the amount of damage to the Bush will likely be its demise. We’ll have to replace it with something that the Rabbits don’t like to eat. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Getting Photos, Cleaning Up, Getting In Touch, Picked Up The Truck, Belated Birthday and Early Anniversary.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

It almost felt strange waking up shortly after 7:30 this morning after the last few mornings that we seemed to have slept so late. When I started opening the Window Shades in the living area the cool breeze felt so good but there was something else that I was happy to see, No Rain. Before going to bed last night the Weather Guessers on both the Local News and On-line were painting a bleak picture of non-stop Rain for the next couple of days.
Our Recently redone Flowerbed and Firepit Patio.
We had the chance to enjoy the sounds of nature as the birds serenaded us as we ate our breakfast with the occasional splash of Sunshine thrown in for good measure. We still used the time at our Computers to finish our morning Coffee/Tea before we moved on to other things.
By adding the Decorative Brick and Stone
reduces damage to the post from the grass trimmers.
Kathy hadn’t heard from our dear friend Vera since we spoke to her from Arizona this past winter, so she called her up on the off chance that she would be home. They spoke for nearly two hours getting caught up on what has been happening in both households. Just before they said their good byes they made a date that we’ll get together for lunch in just over a week.
These are Citronelle Flowers from the plant hanging
on the post in the previous picture.
I had been outside first getting the Photos of the few changes that we have already made to our new site. Unlike some who have made recent moves that were lucky enough to have someone help them with a piece of Construction-Like Equipment all our work has been done with Back-Breaking effort.
This is the finished Firepit Tree Garden.
One of the rules in this RV Park is that if you have a Garden Shed or a Gazebo they must be fastened down on a Cement Base or Patio. When the last people sold the Cyclone Toyhauler along with the Garden Shed and Gazebo they simply ground the heads off the anchors and left them sticking above the surface of the cement. After reorganizing our belongings as I was pulling a Clay laden plastic tarp across the Patio I was quickly reminded of those Anchors. Having worked in industry for so many years with a little time and effort I successfully removed eleven of the twelve. “The One That Got Away” got reshaped into a harmless shiny spot in the concrete.
Same Firepit Tree Garden from the neighbours side.
You can see the plastic tarp full of Clay.
We're hoping to have this all cleaned up this weekend.
Kathy came outside while I was sealing the Firewood Rack Patio with a Silicon/Sand Mixture. That will help hold the Patio Stones in place as well as stopping weeds from growing between. We then moved a few of the Lawn Ornaments so that we could better enjoy them.
Added the Silicon/Sand Mixture to seal the Patio today.
It was then that Jim from Windsor Gas and Diesel called to say our truck was ready for pick up. He had called with the same message last evening but I had forgotten to have him do a Transmission Flush while he had it so he put it back on the hoist and got it all done this morning. Jim doesn’t go on many Vacations but being Canada is celebrating its 150th Birthday on Saturday he and his wife are going to Ottawa for the big celebration. He said he was leaving by 3:00 this afternoon and giving his workers a long weekend off.

Kathy realized it was already past 12:30 so she went inside to start making lunch while I walked down to the Trash/Recycle Area to get rid of a few things before closing everything up outside. By the time I washed up Kathy was serving Vegetable Beef Barley Soup along with Toasted Bagels with Cheese on them. It was Filling and Healthy
Windy Weather with gusts up to 40 MPH.

After changing my work clothes, we were on our way out the door by 1:30 heading for Windsor. We first stopped at Canadian Tire where I found the Twelve Foot Garden Hose I need for a special project. We then headed to the nearby Dollarama looking for a Garden Hose Splitter but they were out of stock.

We headed over to Windsor Gas and Diesel where we found Bryan and Wayne finishing off the last vehicles they were working on for this week. Jim was in the office just finishing with another customer. He had been so busy that he hadn’t gotten our bill ready yet so he told us to take the truck and come back whenever we are in town to settle the bill. Jim trusts us as much as we trust him and that is something you don’t see very often today.

When we left there, we headed straight for Home but we were in Rush Hour Traffic. The roads were packed and there were a lot of Crazies on the road but we both made it Home unscathed.

With the Humidex sitting at the Century Mark we turned the Air Conditioning on in an attempt to cool the trailer down. We even had a few minutes to get caught up on afternoon E-mails and research before we were once again heading out the door.

Our first stop was McDonalds in Amherstburg where we had supper. Kathy had our usual Sweet Chili Wrap but I wanted something different and tried one of their Angus Burgers. They were both good. You could tell that today was the last day of school here in Ontario, the place was packed with young teenagers who haven’t learned to keep private conversations private. We didn’t stay longer then it took to eat our meal.

We stopped at Canadian Tire where we had a few things we’d forgot to look for this afternoon to pick up. With still a few minutes on our hands we went to the Amherstburg Dollarama where I found the Garden Hose Splitter I needed.
Melissa enjoying her gift.
Our next stop was our weekly visit with our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa. Besides our usual visit there was a Belated Birthday wish for Melissa whose birthday was yesterday and an advanced Happy 16th Anniversary to Kathy and I. Both the boys had their last day of school today and are happy to be home for the summer. As usual we enjoyed our visit.

The Weather Guessers are now saying it will only Rain part of the day tomorrow. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Checking Things Off Our To-Do List, Date Set for Repairing Our Home and Missed Photos.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

Why is it that we’ve been working our backsides off all day, sleeping like rocks with the windows open and we are waking up late and still dragging the last few days. It only went down to 52 F (11 C) last night but yet we didn’t wake up this morning until 8:00 this morning. We went through our usual routine but were out the door before 10:00 in an attempt to finish transforming our new site into our Home
We finished the brick bordering and adding the decorative stone
around these trees this morning.
Last night I showed how we had planted an additional two trees at the rear of our site to add some privacy. What we did this morning was to recreate the brick border in an unusual shape to encompass all three trees and it turned out looking nice and uniform but some how we forgot to photograph it today.

With that completed Kathy went inside to start making lunch while I started rearranging the brick around the Flower Hanging Post in our yard. I had the grass removed, the bricks and cloth laid when Kathy called me in for lunch.

Kathy had made a lovely Vinegarette Salad, Perogies and Strawberry covered Yogurt for dessert. It all tasted wonderful, help us to recharge and didn’t weigh us down.

As soon as lunch was over Kathy did up the dishes while I installed the decorative stone around the Flower Hanging Post. After reviewing today’s pictures and finding another missed shot we’ll have to get them when it’s daylight and not raining.
Patio Stones recessed where a Tree once stood.
Since we were told that we would have to relocate our Firepit near the front of our site we figured we would locate it on a raised mound behind our Flowerbed. After laying the Patio Stones on the mound and removing the grass everything went smoothly until I tried leveling the stones. There must have been a big tree that had once stood on that spot that had been taken down and the stump ground but the roots were still there. A simple half-hour task turned into a two-hour job which involved chopping away at numerous tree roots until they were low enough that the Patio Stones were level.

While I was working on the Firepit Kathy took a call from Stephanie from Leisure Trailer in Lakeshore. They finally got all the parts from Jayco to properly fix our Home so they set the date for the second week in August to do it. Would you believe we’ll be out of our Home for a week while all these repairs take place so it will be like we are on vacation from our Fulltime RV Lifestyle
Firewood Rack and Barrel Patio complete.
After finishing the Firepit Kathy thought we should call it a day but I wanted to get as many things crossed off our To-Do List as possible. There were more Patio Stones that needed to be laid to complete where our Firewood Rack and Barrels would be stored. This required building the ground level up to make everything flat. Remember all the Clay that has been dug up so that trees could be planted, well that’s what I used. We finally called it a day shortly after 5:00 so while I put things away Kathy went in to start making supper.
Toasted Hot Dogs and Beans for supper.
It wasn’t until today’s pictures were transferred to the Computer and it was dark out that the missed pictures were noticed. The Local Weather Guessers are also forecasting lots of Rain and Humidexes feeling like 100 F (38 C) for our area for the next two days so we’ll see what we can do inside during that time. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Tasty Leftovers, Flowerbed Complete, Trees Planted, Firepit Damaged and Errands To Finish It Off.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

With the 50 F (10 C) temperatures assisted by a brisk north wind we actually had to close the windows last night. However, the few hours they were open exposed us to so much fresh air that it was past 8:30 this morning when we woke up. We scrambled to have our breakfast before heading over to the Computers. We were so in tuned to getting all our yard work completed today we actually drank our Coffee/Tea while it was still hot.
Kathy placing new plants where they will be located.
It was barely 9:30 and we were already out the door with a game plan of what we wanted to do in mind. We both focused our efforts on the front Flowerbed still locating more ripped up pieces of the Landscaping Cloth that we knew they had to come out. Since the Arthritis in Kathy’s hands didn’t have the grip to pull out the Cloth it became my chore. What was unbelievable was that as I’d remove these smaller pieces of Cloth I was again finding many more of the Tendril Roots of the Ferns that had attempted to take over the entire Flowerbed
Placing the new plants in their new home.
Kathy located the additional plants that we purchased to replace the Fern where she wanted them in the Flowerbed. Once they were planted we worked together laying the new Landscape Cloth making certain the only openings were where the plants themselves were coming through. The challenge to this kind of work was the 30 MPH Wind-Gusts that kept trying to send the Cloth over to the Golf Course. We used a lite layer of the old Mulch to hold the Cloth in place while we finished getting the entire Flowerbed covered.
Chicken Stir-Fry on Eggs along with Strawberries on Yogurt.
That’s when we noticed that it was nearly 1:00 so we headed inside to have lunch. I’ve mentioned before that Kathy hardly ever serves us Leftovers without changing something. Last nights Chicken Stir-Fry was delicious but there just wasn’t enough for two more servings so while that was warming up Kathy made Scrambled Eggs. By covering the eggs with the Stir-Fry changed the flavour and made it more then filling.

Back outside by 1:30 the first thing I needed to do was to relevel all the bricks surrounding the Flowerbed itself. Once that was done we finished it off with three bags of fresh Black Mulch. We had people walking by asking us to do their sites.
Now we just have to wait for the flowers to bloom.
After giving all the traumatized plants a good soaking of water we turned our attention to the back of the Patio. On this past weekend we removed the old Firepit and planted a Emerald Cedar in its place. Like the old site and on the side of the trailer Kathy wanted to create a little more privacy so yesterday we brought Home two more five-foot Emerald Cedars to go close to the Firepit-Tree.

It seemed like the job was taking forever because I was digging in Clay and Stone I had to be extra careful of where the shovel was going because there are the Cable 1 Coaxial Cables that are run unprotected just below the surface of the ground. There were also lots of tree roots that had to be cut through from a Maple Tree that was twenty-feet away. It was after 5:30 when both trees were planted but we needed more Decorative Stone to finish the trim.
Trees planted, just need to add the trim.
Being as tired as we were I thought I’d just assemble our new Above Ground Firepit but when I opened the box I found one of the inner pieces damaged. So we were soon on our way back towards Windsor.

Our first stop at 6:30 was at Wendy’s where we had Chicken Sandwiches off the regular menu because with all the work we had done today we were starving. We even had Chocolate Frosties for dessert to help cool us down.

Next stop was at Canadian Tire where we had no trouble exchanging our Above Ground Firepit.

We then traveled to Home Depot where we picked up the Patio Stones that will be put under the Firepit as well as the Decorative Stone to finish trimming the trees that were planted today.

Since we have been doing a lot of errands with the car we needed to go to the Pioneer gas station and fill the tank,

We were Home shortly after 8:00 so I immediately unloaded the car and started assembling our Firepit. With the promise of rain later tomorrow we are hoping to get everything finished in the morning and get our site cleared of the Waste and Clay. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Collecting Supplies, A Special Thank You and Another Special Birthday Celebration.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

We’ve learned that there is a Hazard to sleeping with the windows open when the temperature drops down below the 50 F (10 C) mark and that is you sleep so soundly you can’t wake up. Darn that Fresh Air, LOL! We didn’t get out of bed until after 8:30 this morning but we surely weren’t falling asleep in our breakfast. I just put our Coffee/Tea right by our computers instead of handling them twice.
The wind was really blowing today.

By 10:00 we had finished our morning reading, inside chores and even a call to Amazon asking why each time I checked the tracking on our purchase the Delivery Date seemed to be getting farther away instead of getting closer. I was given a reason that had me thinking to myself that “I wasn’t born yesterday”.

We wanted to get working on getting more accomplished outside but we needed some supplies so we got ready to head out. After barely stepping outside Kathy had to go back inside and get her jacket because the wind was so cold she said it reminded her of the Winter Winds we had while in Quartzsite.

Our first stop was the Blooming Gardener not far from the Park. We found the mulch we were looking for at a reasonable price but when we checked their stock of trees found their prices to be through the roof.

Plan B had us heading in to Windsor where we checked the Outdoor Garden Center at Canadian Tire. We lucked out because they were just unloading a truck load of more Emerald Cedars and we found two that cost less then the one at the Blooming Gardener. There was only one problem we only had the car so we had put them on the floor of the backseat then bend their tops down to make them fit.

It was nearing Lunch and our breakfast muffin was long gone so we went through the Drive Through at Burger King and got their Two for $6.00 Whoppers and just sat in the car to eat them.

Since Our first two stops didn’t have the Patio Stones we needed we drove over to Home Depot. After finding the ones I needed to complete the Firewood Patio Kathy wanted me to get the larger Stones for our Firepit. After I reminded her of the weight we were already carrying in the car she agreed to get them the next time we are in town.

Back Home as soon as I unloaded the trees it was like a spring uncoiling and they sprang back to full height. Then I continued unloading everything else until I needed to sit for a couple of minutes on our Bistro Chairs. That’s when our old neighbour Stan came over to start talking. Even after we started working while he was standing there he kept talking.
Kathy's version of Stir Fry.
Kathy was going to go back to work on the front Flowerbed but I suggested getting rid of all the old Landscape Cloth because of all the holes in it before adding the new one we had purchased. That old cloth had been laid down then the holes were made to add the plants so it took some pulling and cutting to get it all out but it also helped. In yesterday’s Blog, I mentioned how we had to removed the Fern because it was trying to choke out the rest of the plants. By pulling up the old Landscape Cloth we were finding more and more Tendrils that were trying to start more plants as far as into the Grass. It took nearly two hours just to get that all cleaned out today alone.

Ted stopped by while we were working on the Flowerbed for a short visit. He also gave us a Thank You Card for looking after his place while he was dealing with his wife Eileen’s loss. We’ll be continuing to visit and he was told we are there if he needs to talk.
(L-R) Jack and Sue seated, Grandson Connor,
Granddaughter Emma and Grandson Haigan.
Since we had another visit to make this evening we didn’t do any planting today. Kathy went inside to start making a Chicken Stir Fry while I took the time to give all the plants a good long drink. By the time I got washed up supper was being served. Kathy had made her own Seasoning and it tasted so good we didn't even need any Plum Sauce. Another good thing is there is enough for another meal.
Haigan turned ten today.
We arrived at our daughter-in-law Jen’s home shortly after 6:00 where we joined her parents and sister in wishing our grandson Haigan a Happy Birthday. It’s hard to believe our youngest grandchild is now Ten Years Old. He was very appreciative of all his gifts and we all enjoyed a piece of his Birthday Cake. While the children gather to play video games in the basement the adults had a chance to talk about the more serious side of life and even then, we could laugh about it.

Since this is still a School Night, we all left shortly after 9:00. The wind was still blowing pretty hard when we got Home so we just closed the windows to warm things up. By 10:30 the rain was coming down fairly hard so we don’t have to worry about our plants drying out overnight. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Change of Plans, Getting Hooked Up, Meeting Our New Neighbours and Walmart Shocker.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

With the outside temperature dropping down to 50 F (10 C) overnight and the fact that we had our windows open we had no problems whatsoever to sleep. What we did have was trouble with was waking up. It was 8:00 when I looked at the clock so I headed straight to the living room and started opening the Window Shades before getting things ready for breakfast. The bright sunlight reflecting down the hallway was enough to wake Kathy and she was soon joining me downstairs.
This morning we had sunny skies.
Even though I had plans to get more things completed outside on our site Kathy reminded me that it had been over a week since the Laundry had been done last so my plans got changed a little. We did take the time to do our morning reading while we enjoyed our Coffee/Tea. By 9:30 the inside chores were finished and it was time to gather and sort the laundry. It didn’t take long to get that ready but there were things that just kept popping up and before I knew it Kathy was making us an early lunch. I loaded everything in our folding shopping cart and headed out to get things cleaned.

I’ve mentioned many times that RVers are the most Helpful and Friendly people around. I also mentioned that last year we had a neighbour disguised as an RVer that made it his business to insult and make life miserable for anyone he talked to. When we returned to Wildwood Golf and RV Park this spring we were treated to the news that he wasn’t returning. Everyone on 3rd Street was happy to hear the news. While doing the laundry today there were people living in other parts of the Park talking about that person. It was sad to hear that a person like that one could be recognized for such Negativity instead of being what he tried to be he passed himself off as an RVer.

When we moved to our new site on Tuesday we were so busy trying to get everything moved over that I never bothered to hook up our Sewer Connection. After getting the clothes in the dryers I returned to the trailer to hang the delicates to dry in the shower. That gave me just enough time to make the connection and to dump our Waste Tanks before washing up and heading back to the Park Laundry Room

It was nearly 3:30 when I got back Home with the folded laundry and our new neighbours had arrived at our old site while I was away and Kathy had already spoken with them. They’d had a little problem when they were backing in and were now waiting for someone from the Park to come and replace the Sewer Connection that they rolled over.

We needed some groceries and we weren’t feeling like cooking so we headed to Amherstburg and went to McDonalds to have their Sweet Chili Wrap for supper.

We also wanted to look for a few things for our Flowerbed so we headed to Walmart where the other day we had gotten a nice five-foot Emerald Cedar for our site. When we drove past their Outdoor Garden Section all the trees that were still there were turning brown because nobody is watering them. We also got a surprise as we started to get groceries that they announced the store was closing in ten minutes. They always stay open until 9:00 but they suddenly changed their Sunday hours to 6:00. Amherstburg is not that small a town.

Kathy was so upset that they would do such a thing she just wanted to go Home. Instead I drove to the Sobeys Grocery Store where right on the front door it showed they were open until 11:00 everyday. We got the rest of our groceries before we headed Home

We are expecting a few more days of cool temperatures before we get back to Summer Warmth so we are hoping to finish transforming our site in these few days. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

Things Are Looking Cleaner and A Birthday Celebration.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

It was like someone set the alarm when we both jumped out of bed at 7:30 this morning. Neither of us could recall having to be anywhere that called for such an early start. We finished eating breakfast by 8:00 and had our Coffee/Tea while getting into our morning reading on the Computers. Even after finishing our indoor chores we were headed back outside by 10:00.

We wanted to get our patio cleaned of all the clutter that we had created when we brought everything over from our old site this past week as well as decluttering the Flowerbed that is in our front yard.

Kathy started by trimming back the plants in the flowerbed first but recognized that a Fern had nearly taken over the entire area. Just like if a Rain Forest the roots of the Fern had spread in every direction under the Landscape Cloth and had come through the openings where other plants were. It would then start crowding out the other plants in their opening to the point they were nearly dying off. The solution to that was to chop it out. Kathy managed to clear most of it away but due to the Arthritis in her hands had to call me over to wrestle the last remaining clumps of the Fern Roots out of the Flowerbed.

I had been busy behind our Garden Shed. All the excess stone that had been removed from the old Firepit was just sitting in a pile on our patio. Bit by bit it was spread behind the Garden Shed then leveled as best as could be before I began Tamping the stone into a solid base.

Since it was nearing lunch time I grilled a couple of Angus Beef Burgers while Kathy put the condiments on the buns. They tasted great and would give us the energy we needed to continue working outside. Kathy did the dishes before heading back to working on the Flowerbed.

She had just finished doing what she could for today when our new neighbour Hugh complimented her on how much neater it looked. She did tell him there were a few plants that would be added but not until I was available with the shovel. She also told Hugh about our travels to the Southwest and even though he doesn’t normally go south for the winter Kathy had him saying that he’d like to try that.

Seeing our old neighbour Ted had arrived I went to talk with him for a few minutes. He said Eileen loved to spend the summers at the trailer so he brought her remains with him so they will be here together again for this summer. He was amazed at the changes that we have made to our new site.

I had been busy installing the new patio stones behind the Garden Shed making certain they were level and solid. I had planned on mixing in some older patio stones but their thickness was not the same and I’d need more gravel to put under as a base. We’ll add to that tomorrow.
Fat Toad among the Firewood temporarily tossed on our patio.
By the time I had our Firewood Rack in place Kathy was there to help haul the wood from our Patio over to the Rack. During that process Kathy found we had a Toad lounging around on our patio. Rather then disturbing it we just kept collecting the Firewood from all around its location until it would be sitting in a clear spot. That Toad was no fool because as we moved away the Firewood the bugs would be crawling away and what do toads eat. His tongue would shoot out about two inches each time there was a bug nearby. No wonder it was Fat! Once the patio was nicely cleaned the Toad simply hoped off into the tall grass on our neighbour’s site.

Around 4:00 we headed inside where we both needed a shower to get cleaned up after acting like a couple of kids playing in the sandbox. By 5:00 we were on our way out the door heading to Amherstburg. Our first stop was Subway where we used a Gift-Card to have supper. We share a Foot-Long Sub which keeps the cost and carbs down. This time I instructed the young woman to cut it before adding any condiments to it so that Kathy wouldn’t have any Hot Surprises like she did the last time. It was very satisfying and we still have some money on the Gift-Card
Happy Birthday Matthew
We arrived just before 6:00 at our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa’s home to help celebrate our grandson Matthew’s 15th Birthday. Melissa’s parents and Sister-in-law along with Matthew’s cousins Nathan and Abbey and his brother Cameron were also there for the celebration. While the adults visited inside the garage the kids were having fun outside. As always there were a lot of stories and laughs that were shared. Matthew was very happy with all his gifts but especially the Cake that Kevin made to celebrate the occasion along with all the snacks (Small Feast) that Melissa had set out.

Trying to Make Progress.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

The Rain that was forecasted for our area last night actually arrived many times throughout the night. Figuring that we couldn’t do much outside until after it stopped neither of us were too anxious about getting out of bed with the sound of rain still hitting against our roof. We stayed in bed until just past 8:00 this morning before starting the day with breakfast.

Settling in at our Computers we managed to get caught up on some of the reading that had to been put aside for the last couple of days. I even managed to successfully change the Mailing Address on an order we placed with Amazon. When the order was placed we had no idea that we would be moving from one site to another and since we do want the product thought it would be wise to change the delivery location.

We kept lunch lite only having Tomato and Basil Soup with an open-faced Cheese Sandwich. Looking outside it looked like the rain had finally stopped so we chose to try to accomplish what we could outside.

By personalizing the site to our own taste, we started digging in the Clay based ground between our Garden Shed and our Trailer. The plan was to plant the remaining Emerald Cedar Trees to create a privacy barrier. The one issue that caused a problem was that a past tenant of this site had buried a PCV Pipe running from the Power Pole to the rear of the Trailer. The purpose of the pipe was to run the Power Cable, Cable Coaxial and Water Hose through saving it from exposure to the Sun. It also prevented someone from tripping on them and the Lawn Crew from damaging them. Not only was it a problem when it came to digging the trench but the positioning of the trees so they looked evenly spaced. After placing the trees in as balanced a position as possible we had to reposition so that they all fit. Also adding Peat Moss and plenty of Potting Soil we just finished the task just as the rain started again.
This picture taken yesterday shows the four trees we planted today..
For supper we simply had Macaroni and Cheese that we ate while watching the 6 o’clock News. The Rain finally stopped by 7:30 so we’ll hope to have better luck tomorrow. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Truck In For Service, More Pieces to the Puzzle and Making Our Site Home.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

Kathy managed to only lose two hours of sleep last night but with all the fresh air that was coming through the open windows she managed to wake up by 8:30 this morning feeling better rested. We have two different types of windows in our RV as in most. Fortunately for us that we always make certain the Sliders are closed before going to bed in case it rains while we are sleeping. That was especially wise last night because around 5:00 this morning we were getting hit by a severe Thunderstorm

We completed our morning chores and were headed out the door by 9:30 with a short list of errands we needed to accomplish today. Our first stop was Windsor Gas and Diesel where we dropped the truck off for an Oil Change and to have a few other things checked at the same time. We trust Jim totally with our vehicles and know that he will never try to gouge us.

Not knowing if we would be delayed by any construction we headed over to the Motor City Credit Union where Kathy had an 11:00 appointment with Ashley. Because of her busy schedule even though we were early we had to wait until the appointed time to see her. Kathy’s business was finished within minutes but then Ashley started asking about our trip to the Southwest. We had seen her just before we left last fall and she remembered what we had told her then. After asking many more questions by the time we left she just kept saying “I hope to do that some day”.

It was nearly noon so we walked over to Taco Bell where we enjoyed a lite but satisfying lunch. We then drove over to Princess Auto to check if they had something we needed.

We then drove down the South Service Drive over to get our mail at Guardian Storage and had a big surprise. They had closed the Jefferson Avenue train crossing and had the road blocked off. We then had to take the North Service Drive all the way to Central Avenue before getting on Rhodes Drive and driving almost back to the train crossing construction site. I was again surprised to see Wendy there as she was moved to Guardian Storage’s second location but was here to give Carol a couple of days off.

We then drove back to Home Depot where we returned the Above Ground Firepit because it was just too big and bulky. We also picked up additional Potting Soil and Peat Moss for the trees we have to plant. Kathy verified there were no smaller Firepits available before we left.
Busy tucking in the Weed Free Black Cloth before adding decorative stone.
A pile of stone is on the patio next to the tree.
Driving across the road to Canadian Tire we went to their outdoor Garden Center and managed to find the Pea Gravel we wanted for between the existing Flagstone Patio Stones on our site and a nice Perennial Grass to replace the one that died in our Fairy Garden. Going inside we managed to find a number of Firepits that better fit our requirements.

We were Home by 2:00 and even though the Humidex was feeling like 97 F (36 C) there was a steady breeze that made it tolerable. Both Kathy and I worked on different areas of our site to get things accomplished. Even though we had removed the old Fire-Ring at the rear of our site last night I continued digging out lots and lots of stone that had been packed around the Ring. After digging the hole deep enough we then worked together to add Peat Moss before planting the five-foot Golden Cedar Tree we purchased at Walmart last night. Since the ground is mostly Clay a bag of Potting Soil was also added before we put the Weed Free Black Cloth down and covering it with White Stone for effect.
Acorn Squash, Steak and Peas

It was past 5:00 by the time we finished that so while Kathy was nuking an Acorn Squash and some Peas I was outside grilling a couple of Steaks for our supper. We were listening to the 6 o’clock News while we ate. The food was delicious, satisfying but not overly filling. We barely got the dishes washed when the wind really started picking up and a minute later the rain started pelting the trailer. The news just ended when the Thunder started and that last for close to an hour.

With more Hot, Humid, Wet Weather forecasted overnight and all day tomorrow we’re not sure what we’ll be doing at this point. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.
