Its Gone!

Our Location Today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Well when we woke this morning the sunlight was shining brightly through our curtains. A quick look through half closed eyes revealed that the sun was glistening off the snow still on the ground from the other day. So we started our morning routine that we have gotten into turn on the computers, open the curtains, retreave the morning newspaper, start the kettle boiling and then set the breakfast table.

Once breakfast was complete we started catching up on E-mail and then reading blogs we follow. Again it was time to go pick up our granddaughter Kylla from school for 11 am. What was strange that the snow that had been on the ground only hours before had totally melted away.

After lunch Kathy and I took off for a walk down Tecumseh road to try break the winter dull drums and to get our walking legs back. We spent much of this season indoors due to having had a bout with the Flu as well as both of us having respitory problems that are affected by the cold air.

We were enjoying the warmth of the sun and the lack of wind when suddenly right next to us on the road brakes started screeching and ten cars later it stopped. Somebody doing what they had to do had stopped to turn. Unfortunately everyone else was in such a hurry that it could have been a bad chain reaction. Luckily the only thing bruised were a lot of peoples frazzled nerves.

After stopping for a coffee at the local Tim Hoton's we head back towards home. The sun that had been shining on our way out was now totally hidden behind a dense cover of clouds. The temperature did reach 55 F (13 C ) in our area today.

Back home we are continuing our work on the computers getting ready for our upcoming trips this year. With such Spring-like weather today and a predicted partly sunny day for Thursday with a temperature of 41 F ( 5 C ) makes us wonder when we'll see Spring. The calender says it's only 49 days away. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It's about time.

Quick Slow Day.

Our Location Today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Well the snow we got yesterday is still on the ground as I write but it should disappear tomorrow as the temperatures are predicted to reach 50 F (10 C). The wind was still quite bitey today even though the temp did hover just below freezing mark with the lack of sunshine and the breeze it felt much cooler.

With the forcasted cold weather predicted for today I was asked to pick up our granddaughter Kylla from school just before 11 this morning. The high schools are doing exams this week so that means half days and then home. It was a short outing but I was truely happy to be back in the warmth of the apartment.

Kathy and I made a to-do list for the things we want to do to the trailer before we hit the road. At this time there are ten things that are on our list and we have three more things we will be having done to it this year. It's all about making it comfortable and practical for our use.

I had noted problems that have been occurring on the blog lately but have managed to slowly get it to work the way it is supposed to. I'm also making a few changes on the gadgets that are set up on the sidebar.

Just before hitting the Publish Post button I double checked the weather forecast for Thursday. The forecast has been changed to Partly Sunny which means if our little weather forcaster sees his shadow we are looking at another six weeks of Winter. We have to start a petition to start Spring earlier then the scheduled date in 50 days. Stay Safe and Enjoy!

It's about time.

Changing Things Around.

Our Location Today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

The last couple of days we have woke up to snow on the ground and then it would melt away by supper. Today we woke up to beautiful sunshine not a stitch of snow and temperatures well above freezing almost a springtime day. We had plans to go visiting this afternoon and thought this weather was amazing.

After a nice warm shower we started catching up on E-mails and blog reading. After a while we thought it was time for lunch. As we were sitting down to enjoy our lunch and looking out the balcony doors we couldn't see a thing. It was snowing so hard you would have thought we were having a blizzard. Was this ever a shock! With the weather we had for the last couple of days neither Kathy or I had bothered to look at the Weather Forecast. I guess we will tonight!

We waited an extra half hour before leaving and it seemed to slow down. There might have been an inch on the ground so we figured we were lucky. We spent about an hour and a half visiting with our friend Kathie and enjoying ourselves. Once we were back home the snow started coming down hard again.

Our daughter called telling us the family was attending a a family 50th  Birthday party and wouldn't be home tonight for our Sunday visit. Being we still have way too much to do on the computers guess where we'll be.

As I'm typing right now there might be two inches of snow total. What made it look more dramatic earlier was the wind carrying it almost parallel to the ground. Our weather forcast for tomorrow is above freezing and nearly 50 F ( 10 C ) for Tuesday.

Groundhog Day is calling for rain and snow. Hope that he doesn't see his shadow because I'm sure many of us are hoping for an early spring and I don't mean in another 51 Days. Be safe and Enjoy!

It's about time.

Another Two Season Day.

Our Location Today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Two nights in a row that we both slept all night and when we woke in the morning we were feeling well rested. Again we also woke to find a fresh dusting of snow on the ground but today it was gone by lunch time. Michael and Dee from Gone RVing commented on yesterday's post that it was nice to have 2 seasons in one day but that they were enjoying the summer weather they were receiving in California.

Unlike yesterday the temperature started falling after lunch due to the increasing winds and even though the temperature was 32 F ( 0 C )  the windchill was around 18 F ( -8 C ). I made a quick trip to the truck around 2 pm which lasted about 3 minutes and came back in chilled to the bone.

Due to the weather Kathy and I both continued to work on our computers until Kathy's printer refused to work saying that it didn't have the proper ink cartridge in it. What the??? It's the same cartridge the manufacture supplied and I've been replacing in it for the last 8 years. The only way to get it going was to replace the ink cartridge which is a shame because I only replaced that cartridge a week ago.

While I was fixing her printer Kathy was busy starting to make spare-ribs, a beautiful garden salad and baking a mile high Rhubarb-Apple pie for supper. Sorry there's no pictures. That pie melted away before I could get the camera out. Not only was supper delicious it was a bare-bones event that was finger licking good.

Kathy plans on continue to working on the travel plans and I'll continue designing changes we want to make to our trailer and should be able to start in another 52 days when Spring arrives. Until then Enjoy!

Good Night's Sleep.

Our Location Today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Went to bed last night and it was still raining. Slept like we should all the time feeling well rested. It was much better then tossing and turning all night where you feel as tired the next morning as when you went to bed. The only problem we had was we woke up to everything outside being snowcovered. Luckily the temperature stayed just above freezing and it had totally melted by supper. Finally as we were finishing supper the sun made an appearance just on time for sunset.

Kathy is still going strong at researching all the upcoming trips that we have tentatively planned. I took care of the laundry and more data entries as well as making a few other helpful programs for our travels.

When we saw the sun out at supper we almost wanted to go outside because suddenly it looked almost spring like. Unfortunately we all know Spring doesn't arrive for another 53 days. Until then Enjoy!

Beter Late Than Never.

Our Location Today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

We have all heard that expression before better late than never. Do you remember in yesterdays post I mentioned that the building company was supposed to do a balcony inspection and did not show up. Well guess what they showed up today. According to these people they were told Thursday the 26th not Wednesday the 25th. Oh well better late than never!

Since it was raining outside Kathy and I went out this afternoon to get some store walking in and to run some errands. Strangely enough we got most everything at Walmart but not everything so it was a few more stops before we lucked out.

Now we had to deliver the last of Kathy's homemade Date cookies to our daughter Karen's home. She hadn't arrived home from work yet so Greg our son-in-law said thank you and Kathy told him to hide them until after supper otherwise she'd eat them first and to be sure Kylla got a taste.

While we were eating our supper the phone rang and it was Karen thanking her mom for the cookies . When Kathy informed her that we had also left some at Kevin and Melissa's last night, Karen said we shouldn't be doing that as we should actually be delivering a larger batch to her. It's a good thing she's not addicted to those cookies.

Even though we are finally settled into our apartment there is always something keeping us busy at this time. Kathy is still planning five trips and possibly a sixth while I continue calculating dimensions for modifications we want to do to the trailer as well as resolving problems that keep occurring with the Blog. I wonder just how busy we will be in the next 54 days when Spring arrives. Enjoy!

It's about time.

Really Laid Back Day

Our Location Today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

We are still having our restless night problems but do manage to sleep enough to get us partially through the day. After that a SNAP ( Short Nap ) seems to get us over the daily hump so we can make it until bedtime. It's also strange that when one of us has hardly any sleep the other seems to do okay, then the next night seems reversed.

We were supposed to have someone from the apartment company come and inspect our Balcony Rail to be certain it is still safe. They put a letter in your mail box to inform you of those things 48 hours ahead so you won't be shocked about an unannounced knock on your door. Nobody showed up between the times of 8 am and 4 pm so we can expect another of those letters soon. It is strange but something as simple as that will play in the back of the mind and add to the sleeplessness. Can't wait to be back on the road because that problem becomes a rariety and not the norm.

I had corresponded with Ivan from Roadtrip 2012 about a problem he was having charging the controller for his small Helicopter he uses for taking pictures. He is still able to use it at this time but doesn't think the problem has been fixed. I just hope for his sake it does not end in a crash and burn of his helicopter.

In recent posts people have been commenting on the beautiful pictures of our past travels and flowers. I have to be honest that those pictures were all taken with an HP 735 point and shoot camera, but it did make for great memories. I prefer to post most pictures unedited except the Chrismas shots where I simply crop them. I try not to post the same picture more than once but have messed up and reposted 4 without realizing I had done so. Now I have found a way to mark them so as only to use them the one time. Please don't feel like the pictures will stop in the near future as there are thousands more to use and many future shots to come.

I made an appointment with Mor/ryde to have their new Escape Ladder installed on our trailer when we are around the Elkart area in June. Heaven forbid that we should ever have to use it in case of a fire but something like this will surely increase our chances of survival.

This evening Kathy and I went for our weekly visit with our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa, but because Kathy had been busy making more of her home-made Date cookies so tonight we brought the snacks. Well you guessed it they received rave reviews and requests for more. By the time we got home there was actually a dusting of snow on the cars in the parking lot.

We'll have to start making plans for getting the trailer ready for our upcoming trips and modifications. We can start that on the first day of Spring which starts in 55 days. Enjoy!

It's about time.

Date Night.

Our Location Today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

We received a few responses on yesterday's post basically agreeing that it is no easy task to think of things to write about. Even professional authors develop Writers Block and have the same problem. Many of us feel we have to always have something entertaining to write about or nobody will read these posts. That's where we are wrong because we are all everyday people who have everyday chores even when we are touring or on vacation. Even the posts of Fulltime RVers will tell you exactly the same thing.

Georgia KOA
After cleaning out the refridgerater of leftovers Kathy waved her magic wand and recreated it all into a wonderful tasting lunch. After cleaning up the kitchen we headed out to see the movie Joyous Noise with Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah. Since we both enjoy theater, comedy and musicals this was a real treat for us. It definitely broke many social and racial barriers that all blended well together and not using songs but actual dialogue where it was supposed to be. We almost started applauding after one musical number because it was highly energizing and made you feel you like were part of the audience on screen. This is a movie we would both highly recommend. The music is awesome! It's a feel good movie for sure.
Florida Everglades
Once the movie was over we went over to a restaurant called Moxie's where we had a glass of wine, appetizer and an enjoyable dinner that was made to perfection. Since we are both trying to loose a bit of Christmas packaging that seemed to gather around our waists we will both be enjoying the rest of our dinner for lunch tomorrow.

San Antonio Texas Riverwalk
This was what we called a Date Night which we try to have every once in a while whenever we are not travelling. The best part of this date was that most of it was covered by Gift Cards. We tell our children not to buy us anything personal such as clothes or things for our home. We have too many clothes and donated much of our homes furniture and unnecessary stuff when we moved into the apartment. So our suggestion to them is gift cards for shows or restaurants for us to eat out. So we get to Thank our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa for an enjoyable evening out.

Another reason this evening feels so good is it is only 56 days to Spring. Enjoy! The color of these flowers are absolutely gorgeous!

Rationalizing Day.

Our Location Today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Yesterday  I had asked Kathy what I should write about so she decided she would create the post for a change. It did feel strange being the editor instead of the writer for a change, Besides I think she did pretty darn good if I do say so myself.

Part of the reason I was a little stumped as what to write about is the because of the Hum-Drum repitition of every day life. What also makes it feel more so is the fact that we are still at home in our apartment and not out having an adventure somewhere in our trailer.

My spirits were lifted today when I read Ed and Marilyn's blog The Happy Wanderers . Ed and many other blog writers say that if you only plan on reading about traveling or exploring sites all the time you are at the wrong post. The reason is that even though some people are Full Timers they are still Human beings. They not only travel using their trailers but they live in them all the time. Which means they have to do chores like everyone else and like it or not, not every day is an adventure.

So now I know that life itself is the adventure even if it is mundane or full of excitement. So when I write that I'm getting back into my excercise routine again slowly and Kathy and I went back to use the indoor swimming pool downstairs, it's life. I know that you will accept it as such because most of you might even be thinking that it sounds good to you.

Besides most of us are going to start worrying about the increase in traffic because in another 57 days it will be Spring. Enjoy!

It's about time.

Time

Our Location Today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Rick asked “What should I write about today?” So I decided to write today.
It is a great day and the weather isn't too bad.  We are healthy and also very happy.

Well today was just another typical day.  We didn't do anything really interesting or exciting. Baked bread, cooked, cleaned up the apartment and visited in the evening with family. Worked a little on the computer and watched a little TV.

We have been a little overwhelmed at the amount of time we seem to have to do things. We never had time like this raising our kids. We never had time like this when we worked and owned a home. We never had time like this because of the ridiculous whirlwind life style that we were a part of.

Now we are planning a little different lifestyle and things are finally beginning to slow down. We are thinking about what we have to do now and down the road. It is taking a little bit of getting used to this new lifestyle but we will. We are already adapting to the freedom we are feeling and the joy of being able to pick and choose what we will do next.

So we may not have a lot to talk about sometimes, but we are keeping busy with everyday living until the weather breaks and then look out here we come!  Time is a precious commodity we want to spend it well!

It's about time.

Quiet Day.

Our Location Today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Amazingly I slept great last night but Kathy didn't. There was also another surprise when we woke this morning. We actually got about 2 inches of snow. It was the light powdery type snow that the Ski Lodges just love to see. There was so much of it that it took me all of 10 minutes to clean both the car and the truck. The best part of all this is I didn't have to shovel any of it. You can tell I'm really going to miss that.

Eight weeks have flown by rather quickly and I was back at the Canadian Blood Services building making donation number 76. I've been reading some other blogs lately that also try to do what they can about giving  the gift of life.
Florida Everglades
On the way home I stopped at the Credit Union and then over to pick up food supplies at the grocery store.
San Antonio Texas Riverwalk
Back at the apartment Kathy continues reseaching for our upcoming trips and I continued making data entries. Strange but I found an entry that said it was only 59 days until Spring. Enjoy!

It's about time.

A woman rushed to see her doctor, looking very worried and upset.
She cried out: "Doctor, take a look at me. When I woke up this morning,
I look at myself in the mirror and saw my hair all wiry and frazzled up,
my skin was all wrinkled and pasty, my eyes were bloodshot and bulging
out and I had this corpse-like look on my face!
What's WRONG with me, Doctor?"
The doctor looks her over for a couple of minutes, then calmly says:
"Well, I can tell you there is nothing wrong with your eyesight."
