109, Counting Down The Hours, Getting Things Accomplished and A Funny Ditty.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

We both managed to sleep like a couple of rocks last night even if the outside temperature dipped Below the Freezing Mark. It seemed like someone told me it was time to get up at exactly 8:00 this morning. That gave me a chance to get my morning reading and Blood Donor Questionnaire done and printed before Kathy woke up an hour later.

After we had our breakfast Kathy sat at the Computer with her morning Coffee while I left mine to cool slightly on the table while I did my inside chores. Not only did I make the bed but I also dug things out that we’ll be needing just before we get on the road tomorrow morning.

This was not a day we could sit around waiting for the Sun to make an appearance. By 9:40 I was outside dumping and flushing our Waste Tanks, swapping out our Empty Propane Tank, packing the Weber Q in the basement, filling our Drinking Water Jugs, storing our Fresh Water System and finally disconnecting our Sewer Line.

Even though I had layered myself against the cold weather by 10:30 I was more then happy to go inside to warm up. Time was something we didn’t have so as soon as I’d removed my coveralls and change my shoes it was time to head back out the door.
This is what our entire day looked like.
Our first destination in Windsor was the old Red Cross building on Grand Marais. We entered through the south door and into the VitalAire office. We were there to pick up our CPAP supplies before we head south for the winter. Tiara had everything ready because we had stopped in a month ago to tell her we’d be here. She wished us a Safe Trip and we were told to Enjoy ourselves.

Leaving the VitalAire office Kathy headed down the hall to the waiting room while I went to put our things in the Car. When I turned to head back inside I froze in my tracks as a wave of White Flakes crossed my line of sight. Not something either of us want to see. Turning around to see if there were any trees that might have shed some tiny leaves all I could see were bare branches everywhere around.

By the time I joined Kathy in the waiting room of the Canadian Blood Services she had already registered my arrival and gotten my Number Card. I had an 11:55 appointment but since I was early by the time my vital signs were checked out, my 109th Blood Donation was taken and I’d had my snack we were nearly ready to go by 12:15.

We were telling Mary a volunteer that we were leaving in the morning heading for Arizona. She said that both herself and her husband had been talking about doing something like that someday. We gave her one of our Business Cards so she can follow along and contact us if she needs any further information.

It was close to 12:30 when we arrived at Burger King for lunch. Our daughter Karen had given us some coupons so they helped us decide what we were having.

After refreshing ourselves we drove to Walmart where Kathy picked up a bottle of Antihistamines while I went to get a jug of Distilled Water that we’ll need for our CPAPs.

Driving across the street we first stopped at Dollarama to get a few snacks to have while we travel. Across the parking lot we tried to do the same at the Bulk Barn but they were out of stock.

We finally headed to Guardian Storage where after retrieving our Mail I reminded Carol we are leaving in the morning. If our Mail Box gets too full they will put the contents in a Box labeled with our name and give it to us when we return. If we wanted they would forward it to us but we don’t believe there is anything we can’t wait to see. She wished us a Safe Trip and told us to Have Fun. We also drove back to our Climate Controlled Storage Unit where we picked up a couple pair of Gloves and Toques. After last winter being so cold we are not taking any chances this year.

We then dove to Bulk Barn on Walker Road where we finally got what the other store didn’t have. Driving across the parking lot we went to the Zehrs Supper Store where we got a Loaf of Bread and a half gallon of Milk.

We arrived at Fantastic Sam’s with time to spare for our 3:00 appointment. Jen was just finishing with her last customer so she even started working on us early. Jen has been doing our hair for years and always has to spend time fixing our hair when we get back from our trips.

On our way back to McGregor we stopped at the Gas Station to fill up with gas before heading Home.

Upon driving into the Park, we noticed quite a few more RVs had left since this morning. We were only Home long enough to leave everything we had just picked up today and to load things from the Freezer and Fridge into an Insulated Shopping Bag. Since we can’t take certain things across the International Border into the US instead of wasting them we planned to give them away.

Our next stop was our son Kevin’s house in Amherstburg to drop off not only the food we couldn’t keep but our Car as well. We know it will be in good hands with Kevin and he’ll drive it around to keep it exercised.

It was nearly 5:00 before we arrived at Pharma Choice drug store where I picked up the Prescription that I dropped off last Friday. This is a smaller Pharmacy and they didn’t have a Six-Month supply of my medication that day so they had to order it. Everyone behind the counter was volunteering to come with us but wished us Safe Travels.

We were both feeling hungry and neither of us felt like cooking so we stopped at McDonalds where we had a Sweet Chili Wrap for supper.

We managed to get Home just minutes before the 6 o’clock Local News started. As soon as it was finished I was back outside bundled up against the freezing cold. I had to go through the Garden Shed. I had stored something in there early this summer and couldn’t find it. Using a Flashlight and leaving nothing unturned it was finally located. It had slipped from the shelf and was between the Bicycles.

I also managed to finish storing the last of our Patio Furniture and prepping the back of the Truck for towing. Kathy came outside to see how I was doing and nearly froze while I was working up a sweat.

This evening when Kathy read what our friend Jan Mains from Bill and Jan RVing in the USA commented on yesterday’s blog she just had to respond.

Jan Mains: It's going to be hard to sleep tonight.

Kathy:  You betcha!

This little ditty keeps running around in my head.

While Mamma and Poppa all snug in their beds
With questions galore just dancing in their heads.
Did Poppa remember to put that aside or did Poppa forget to secure what he tied?

While Momma was sleepy and climbed into bed. She remembered to tell him to secure that instead.

They woke in the morning all ready to flee.
When they looked at the rig they were happy with glee.
Everything ready and nothing amiss and they looked at each other and then they just kissed.

They climbed aboard and were off with delight in the hopes of seeing some RV friends the very next night.

Safe travels everyone

Getting Closer To Leaving.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

Not wanting to sleep too late this morning we set the alarm before going to bed last night. Like the last time it was set I was up long before it went off. We both had the opportunity to see the Sun rise this morning. It put on a brilliant show splashing colours on everything it could but then in less then five minutes it was gone. That’s right the Black Storm Clouds filled the sky completely blocking the Sun from view.
As the Sun started to rise.
We had our cereal for Breakfast and spent a little bit of time at the Computers before getting on with our Chores. With the outside Temperature being only 34 F (1 C) Kathy busied herself Dusting, Vacuuming the inside of the trailer as well as gathering the Garbage. I bundled up and went outside to work on a few things.
The colours from the Sun were beautiful.
Digging deep in the basement I pulled out one of my Clear Storage Bins that contain tools that most RVers don’t carry. Using the Tailgate as a Workbench I dug out my Electric Drill. When I added the Extensions on the Bicycle Carrier I didn’t allow for water drainage. A quick hole on each Extension soon took care of the problem. I then had to adjust our Tandem Bicycle to put on the Carrier. I also had to shorten the Mast that would hold the Bicycle in an upright position by using my Hand Grinder with the Cutting Wheel attached. Having a bit of a problem I had to signal Kathy to give me a hand. It may have only been a minute but she really did help.

Since the position of the Tandem Bicycle will block the view of not only our Taillights but the License Plate as well I had to move that to the back of the Bicycle Carrier as well. Don’t need any Tickets for that do we. Just as I finished installing the Bicycle Cover it started to Rain. I continued putting my Tools away and just made it inside when it really started to pour.

It felt toasty being in from the Cold Rain but I still had more to get done. Wanting fresh bedding before we start our trip I changed the Bedding while Kathy started getting things ready for an early lunch.

Kathy always makes her own Tartar Sauce and she used it on some Hamburger Buns that she filled with the remaining Perch we had cooked for last night’s supper. She also made some Lentil Soup to help warm us up.

Perch on a Bun and Lentil Soup.
As soon as we finished eating I sorted the rest of the Laundry before heading over to the Park Trash and Recycle Area as well as the Park Laundry Room. I had the entire place to myself for the next Three and a Half Hours. I was in the process of packing things up before anyone else came in.
Minutes after I got Home the Rain was really coming down.
I had barely gotten inside the Trailer when it started Raining again. For supper we had Chicken Pot Pies and a Hardboiled Egg. The Temp only reached 45 F (7 C) today but with the 35 MPH Wind Gusts it felt much cooler. Tomorrow is our last day for getting things ready for our Southwest departure and it will be a busy one. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Getting More Things Ready.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

After having an enjoyable Halloween Party at our son and daughter-in-law’s house last night we felt worn out which meant we had no problems falling asleep once we got between the bedcovers. We also felt a little overfed which was no-one else’s fault but our own. With our not having eaten supper before going and sampling every dish available it didn’t take long before we had over eaten.

I finally just got up and headed to the Computer around 7:30 this morning because I was tired of staring at the ceiling instead of sleeping. I’d finished most of my morning reading by the time Kathy woke up just before 9:00. Even though the temperature hit the Freezing Mark it was when Kathy got up that I turned the Furnace on to take the chill out of the air. With neither of us were feeling the least bit hungry so we simply had our Coffee/Tea as we continued reading at our Computers. I also took the time to start charging our TracFones, Verizon MiFi and our Walkie Talkies so they’ll be charged up for Wednesday morning. Even with the temperature hoovering just above the Freezing Mark we were making plans to work outside together.
Bacon, Eggs and Toast for Brunch
Still not feeling hungry but starting to feel lightheaded around 11:00 we decided to have Brunch before going outside. As many restaurants are now saying you can have breakfast at any time of day or night so that’s what we did. Using up more of the Bacon that we had grilled on our Weber from in our Freezer along with Eggs from the Fridge with Toast and topped off Coffee it was just enough to make us feel comfortable. By the time we finished our Coffees our feeling of being lightheaded had disappeared.

Kathy joined me outside so we could wrap the Cedar Trees on our site with netting. If this area is hit with any Heavy Snowfall while we are away the netting will hold the branches together so there will be no damage to the Trees. Installing the netting is not an easy task and Two Sets of Hands are better then One. It still took the two of us nearly Four Hours to wrap the dozen Cedars on our site and even though we had dressed for the cool temperatures we were still chilled to the bone.

Just before 5:00 we again teamed up to cook supper. Kathy wanted to Sautee up some Potatoes, Onion and Brussels Sprouts so I manned the Chopping Board. Once that was ready Kathy showed me how to bread Fish while she cooked them in the Frying Pan. Our neighbour Ted had given us some frozen Perch last spring hat he had caught last winter and since we can’t bring it across the International Border into the US we did the next best thing. Everything tasted wonderful and there is enough cooked Perch leftover for lunch tomorrow.
Pan Fried Perch and Sauteed Vegetables.
The hours are counting down and we still have plenty to do before we leave. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Getting Ready and Enjoying A Halloween Party.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

Even after getting to bed at a reasonable time last night one could say that I was very upset when after rolling over to look at the clock it was noted to be 9:00 in the morning. Not that we had anything planned for this morning but I’ve been trying to train myself to be up earlier for when we start traveling. Looking outside only to see the heavily clouded sky and water puddles from last night’s Rain made me realize that if the Sunlight wasn’t brightening our windows then we would continue to sleep later.
Talk about an Inflated Halloween Spirit.
We kept breakfast lite and settled in at the Computers with our Coffee/Tea. After completing our other inside chores, we discussed what we need to accomplish in the next Three Days
Happy Halloween.
Still in a Food Cleaning mood Kathy created Ham and Tomato Wraps to go with the Vegetable Beef Soup she was serving. It was both tasty and filling.
A Knight and her Drag Queen.

After clearing the dishes off the Table, we worked together to make the Ambrosia Fruit Salad that we would be bringing as our contribution for the Halloween Party’s food table.
A Spider and a Pumpkin.
When that was complete we cleaned up the dishes in one full swoop and were again left with a clean kitchen.
Scarecrow and Willie Nelson.
Our choice of Costume this year was quite simple. Since we are headed to the southwest we dressed in our Blue Jeans with our Denim Jackets and Cowboy Hats. I also wore my Bandana that I could easily pull over my lower face but Kathy just didn’t feel comfortable wearing her’s.
Delinquent Dropout.
It was around 5:30 when we loaded the Truck and headed for our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa’s house in Amherstburg. We were the first to arrive so we got to sit and talk while the kids were still upstairs finishing their makeup. The end result was unbelievable, a stocky Knight and her Drag Queen. The makeup for both was perfect.
Betty-Boop, Princess and Hippy.
Shortly after 6:30 others started arriving and bit by bit the food table started to fill. We hadn’t eaten supper yet so we were ready to eat but we only had small samples from some of the many dishes that were there to be eaten. A little bit here and a little bit there and before we knew it we had eaten more then at a normal meal.
Jason
The Costumes were imaginative and funny. Some were homemade, some store bought and others were put together from a combination of past parties. Most were family oriented while there’s always one that came dressed as more towards an Adult “X” Rated theme.
"X" rated with his Dominatrix.
With the heater running in the garage everyone was comfortable. If someone went outside for a smoke they didn’t stay out very long. Conversation flowed freely with subjects ranging from when people were growing up, what the kids were doing in school to taking care of rodent problems. There were so many different conversations going on it was sometimes hard to keep track of them all. It was past 10:00 when we said our Good Nights and everyone was wishing us Safe Travels
Semper Gumby
The first thing we did when we got Home was to turn on the Furnace not only to warm up the inside of the trailer but the Basement and Waste Tanks as well. The temperature will be hitting the Freezing Mark tonight but with the cool breeze it will feel about 7 F (5 C) cooler. We should be safe to turn the Furnace off overnight without anything freezing. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Getting Our Medications, Fine Tuning and Counting Things Out.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

After laying in bed staring at the ceiling for some time this morning I finally decided just to get up and start my day. Was I in for a surprise when I finally looked at the clock and it showed that it wasn’t even 7:00 yet. Knowing that Kathy needs more sleep then I do I simply opened just a few Window Shades to retain my privacy because it was still dark outside. I simply turned my Computer on and started doing my morning reading. The nighttime low didn’t hit the freezing mark like it did yesterday so I didn’t have to turn the Furnace on until I heard Kathy getting out of bed.

For breakfast we had Cereal and talked about what we needed to accomplish today. We brought our Coffee/ Tea back to the Computers before getting started with anything else. I actually drank my Coffee faster then normal this morning because we needed to get moving. I called the Pharmacy and passed along Kathy’s Doctor’s message about double checking with her about one of her medications and that we would be around before noon to pick up our Winter Supply.

It was nearly 10:30 when we headed out but stopped by the end of 3rd Street to say our goodbyes to our old neighbours Ted and John. Ted will be staying home alone now that Eileen has passed and do some renovations on the house during the winter. John is having Knee Surgery in November before heading for Florida. They both wished us Safe Travels and will look forward to seeing us next spring.

It was shortly after 11:00 when we arrived at our son Kevin’s house in Amherstburg. While at our Climate Controlled Storage Unit the other day we found things that we won’t be using anytime in the future but we know Kevin can so we dropped them off. He was already in the garage starting to decorate for tomorrow night’s Halloween Party.

We didn’t stay long before heading over to Pharma Choice drug store. They had called Kathy’s Doctor to see if there were any changes but the Doctor had not responded to their call. They tried again while we were there but our lite breakfast was wearing off so we left to go for lunch.

We went to Subway just down the street. Kathy had an Assorted 6-inch Sub while I tried one of their new Chicken Caesar Wraps. They were both reasonably priced, tasty and we weren’t stuffed. We also got a card saying next Friday will be Buy One get the Second at Half Price. We experienced that somewhere in the US last year.

It was after 1:00 when we got back to the Pharmacy and they finally got the Doctor who said not to change the dosage. We had been concerned about a change to Kathy’s medication because her Doctor did that to us before we left for Florida in 2013 with disastrous results. Kathy had been in so much pain because the new medications were ineffective. We were wished Safe Travels before we left.

We got Home just before 2:00 and after bringing in our haul we both set about doing our own things. Kathy had Data Entries to make on our Expenditure Spreadsheet. After changing into my Coveralls, I went outside to adjust the Static Straps under the Truck which will make our travels more comfortable and less tiring. I also managed to find our Locks we use to secure things to the back of the trailer. In the hour and a half that I was outside the wind increased to 35 MPH Gusts and the temperature dropped to the point that I was shivering. With forecasted Showers I went inside to work.

Years ago our former Pharmacy had shortchanged some of Kathy’s diabetic medication and we didn’t notice it until we were in Florida. To extend its use Kathy only took half the dosage until we got home. Since that day I actually count every Prescription Pill that we get Twice. I didn’t find any shortages today but one bottle had Two Extra Capsules.

By the time I finished counting today’s Six-Month Supply of Medications the rain was coming down so Kathy checked the Fridge and Freezer to see what needed to be used up. We ended up finishing the last of the Perogies from the Freezer and we shared a Sweet Potato from the Fridge

The Rain is still falling and should stop around Noon tomorrow, so we should sleep like a couple of Rocks tonight. With the Halloween Party tomorrow, we’ll be keeping our chores indoors. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

Appointments Nearly Finished and Lots Of Safe Travel Wishes.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

Last night was our coldest night so far this season. It was one of those nights that you wouldn’t stick any part of your body outside of the Warm Winter Bedding. Well maybe for only a few seconds and that was because someone else was gathering the Bedding to snuggle with. It was a slow process but the Blankets were replaced to cover everyone in the bed.

By spending that awake time during the night our bodies demanded we sleep a bit later but that was short-lived when the Phone began ringing at 8:20 this morning. It was the Doctor’s Office telling me my 3:30 appointment had just been changed to 1:00 because the Doctor’s Surgical Schedule had been changed.

We needed to get started anyways because Kathy had an In-Home Appointment this morning with Mary from Healthy Heals at 11:00. Looking outside the Sun was shining brightly in a cloudless sky. Lowering our sights a bit we could see our neighbour Terry was outside scraping Frost off his windshield as he was getting ready to head for Texas for the winter. After having breakfast we had our Coffees at the Computers. The first thing I looked at was The Weather Network showing the temperature had risen above the Freezing Mark but it still felt cooler.
Felt like 30 F at 9 A.M., Fall has arrived.
As soon as the Coffees were done the room was rearranged to make it more spacious for Mary’s arrival. We were discussing how tight it was going to be to get to my New Appointment after Mary would leave. Somebody must have been listening because the phone suddenly rang. It was Mary saying she was ahead of schedule and would it be okay to come early. (Is the Pope Catholic?)

Kathy’s feet felt wonderful after Mary finished working on them and after wishing us a Safe Trip she was gone before noon. That just gave me enough time to move the Truck back to our site before we left for Windsor.

We were starting to feel hungry but we didn’t have time to stop anywhere to eat. Instead we went through the Drive-Thru at Wendy’s and just ordered a couple of Chicken Wraps off their Value Menu. That was a delay of less then Five Minutes before we were back on the road. With all the Traffic Signal Lights we easily had our lunch finished before arriving at the Shoppers Drug Mart at Tecumseh Road. Kathy went inside to look for a Hairbrush while I went next door for my appointment.

Even though the office was closed until 1:00 for lunch as soon as the Receptionist got back at 12:50 I was immediately brought in first. Even the Doctor was early and after a brief examination I was soon on my way with the wish to Enjoy Your Trip.

Since Kathy didn’t have any luck with the Hairbrush our next stop was Guardian Storage where we simply picked up our Mail.

Continuing up the road we stopped a Green Shield where Kathy handed in her Claim Form for Mary’s visit from this morning.

We drove from there up the Expressway to Leisure Trailers in Lakeshore to pick up a few bottles of Blue Streak. This product helps keep our toilet clean and helps break up our waste. We also stopped to talk to Stephanie and Thanked her for pushing Jayco to fix our Trailer

Heading back towards Windsor we stopped at Canadian Tire and Walmart looking for a replacement Two-Tier Turntable to hold our Spice Containers. Neither of them had anything close to that so after picking some Note Pads up at Dollarama we went looking at Home Depot. They didn’t even have any but what they did have was parts. They had Ball-Bearing Swivels, Doweling and Edging. Combing that with the wood that I have, we’ll end up with a Lazy Susan that will never break.

It was nearly 4:00 when we drove to our daughter Karen’s house in Tecumseh. We had been invited to join them for supper and a chance to visit before we leave next week. When we arrived only Sanford and Tyler were home. Tyler had just gotten home from school and was having a nap so Sanford tried to entertain us the best he could. After Greg, Karen and Kylla got home from work they decided we’d go out for supper.

We ended up at the Michigan Dinner on Manning Road where Kathy and I ordered off the Senior Menus while everyone else used the regular menu. They insisted this was our going away meal. Thanks for the great meal folks, we do appreciate it. We headed back to their house where our visit continued with Hot Tea to warm us up. Before we left we were once again wished Safe Travels and they’ll be looking forward to seeing us in the spring.
Sanford with his Prized Blanket.
At Home the Wind was lite and the sky clear with plenty of Stars filling the sky. Our high for today was 54 F (12 C) and we are already at 36 F (2 C) for the night. Tomorrow is looking like the perfect day to scratch things off our To-Do List in an effort of getting things ready for our southwest departure next week. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Overdue Visit, Enjoyable Lunch and Another Fun Visit.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

Even though we didn’t have the alarm set this morning I was awake by 6:30 and had to convince myself to fall back to sleep. I finally opened my eyes at 7:35 and thought long and hard whether I really wanted to get up. With the outside temperature feeling like 37 F (3 C) as soon as my feet were in my slippers and I had my housecoat on I headed to the kitchen to cycle the Furnace. The sound of the Blower Fan was all it took to wake Kathy but the trailer was already starting to warm up.

As per our morning routine after having breakfast at the Dining Table we finished drinking our Coffee/Tea while doing our morning reading on our Computers. Before 10:00 I went outside and pulled the second Empty Propane Tank from the trailer and loaded it in the truck. Thank Goodness, we have a third 30 lb. Propane Tank to see us through these cold times. We were soon on our way out towards Windsor using the Truck. We want to make certain the truck is running properly before our departure to the Southwest next week.

Our first stop was to Canadian Tire to return the Plastic Water Jug Spigot. Having been able to find Valves made of Brass that will do the job means we’ll never have to replace another one again. Since the package was still sealed they had no problem taking it back.

It was at this time we realized that we had left the Camera back at Home by our Computers. There would have only been a couple of pictures that didn’t involve Black Clouds and Rain so you aren’t missing anything.

Our next stop was at our good friend Kathie’s Apartment. We’ve only seen her twice this year and were surprised to see she was babysitting her granddaughter Kingsley. Kathie’s daughter Christine had to see her own family doctor today so she was more then happy to help out. We had a chance to sit and visit catching up on what Kathie has been up to. She is still having some difficult times Grieving as it’s not quite a year and a half since Ross passed away. If the phone rings and if Kathie doesn’t recognize the number she won’t answer it. Today, I gave her a list of all our Canadian and American phone numbers so she can program her phone and know it’s us calling.

Christine arrived just before noon and after speaking with her for a bit Kathy and I took Kathie out to lunch at the nearby Pizza Hut. Since the Rain had increased I dropped them close to the door before going to park. We lucked out by being able to take advantage of their Lunch Buffet. This gave us a chance to sample many of their different Pizzas and Salads at a reasonable price. We were fortunate that the Pizzas they put out were only Medium Sized and were cut small so we didn’t stuff ourselves.

After bringing the Truck close to the door to pick Kathie and Kathy up we went to the east-end Canadian Tire. Dropping them close to the door I went and parked near the Propane Fill Station before going back inside. At Canadian Tire you have to prepay a Set Price according to the size of Tank before they will fill it. If your tank is only half empty you still pay the Set Price. In the US you only pay for the amount of Propane that is put in your Tank. I was fortunate enough to be wearing my Raincoat but the attendant that was filling the tanks was only wearing a long-sleeved Shirt. By the time he finished filling my Two Tanks there were three other people waiting to get their Tanks filled.

I moved the Truck closer to the front door before going inside. I wanted to get new Wiper Blades for the Truck. At one time there was a Book available for you to get Stock Numbers but now they have small Tablets for that information. With my Raynaud’s Disease my hands were too cold to make the Tablets work. Even Kathy couldn’t get them to work but fortunately our friend Kathie had no problems. Kathy also picked up material to Winter Wrap our trees with before we leave.

Back at Kathie’s apartment the Hot Tea we had was much appreciated as it helped take the chill out of our bones. We continued our visit until after 4:30 before we said our Good Byes to Kathie as we won’t be seeing her until we get back in the spring but we will be calling her on the phone.

Since we weren’t going Home until much later we stopped at Wendy’s where we chose our supper from their Value Menu. Because we’d eaten Pizza for lunch it only took the smallest of their Burgers to satisfy our appetites for supper.

With this being Wednesday our next stop was in Amherstburg to visit our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa. It felt like old times driving from the east-end of Windsor on the Expressway to the Front Road getting us there as quickly as we do from McGregor which is only half the distance. We talked about this weekend’s Halloween Party without giving away what we’d be dressed as. We also had our usual fun filled visit with lots of laughter.

We said our good nights after 8:00 and when we got back Home we didn’t park on our site. Since we are expecting Mary from Healthy Heals in the morning we parked at one of our neighbour’s sites that have already closed up for the season so Mary can park on our site.

Our High Temperature for today was only 50 F (10 C) but we’ll be feeling like 30 F (-1 C) through the night. Looks like Fall is here. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Another Appointment and Getting Things Ready.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

There was no argument about leaving our Bedcover on last night when the Local Weather Guesser showed that the temperature was going down to 39 F (4 C). Somewhere in my Subconscience this morning I remembered that I had set the Alarm (We really hate doing that!) for 7:30 this morning when I started staring at the Clock with Ten Minutes to spare.

We both took the time to take our morning Pills, grab our Raincoats and were out the door and headed for Windsor by 8:00. Our first destination was to Kathy’s Family Doctor’s Office. When Kathy has to fast like this I will do the same so that I’m not eating in front of her. Besides I have some extra energy stored that I could afford to lose some. By the time Kathy saw her Doctor, had her Blood Tests done and received her Flu Shot we were leaving by 9:15.

Our next stop was to the nearby A&W where it has become our ritual to have our delayed Breakfasts. The reason we go there is because we are served on real Plates with real Silverware, our Coffees and Juices are served in real Mugs and Glasses. The Food tastes great cooked the way you want it, is reasonably priced and is brought to your table within minutes of giving your order. We were not hungry when we left. The Rain had increased from a drizzle to a Shower.

Driving across the parking lot we went to Canadian Tire. We use Blue Refillable Water Jugs for Drinking Water when traveling. We use the Reverse Osmoses Dispensing Machines which guarantees that we’re drink Safe Water. The other day Kathy went to move the one Jug and Plastic Spigot broke off so we were here to purchase a replacement. Before leaving the store with the new Tap I suggested we check the Plumbing Department. I tried unsuccessfully to find a Brass Fixture in an attempt to avoid this problem in the future.

Driving over to Dollarama I dropped Kathy near the door because of the Rain before parking the Car. Before I had even reached the sidewalk she was coming out saying all things related to summer had been removed from the shelves.

Driving across this parking lot to Home Depot I searched their Plumbing Section and found the perfect replacement to the Water Spigot. Kathy wanted me to use the heavy-duty Plastic Valve but when she tried to operate it she found the Brass Valve much easier. We have Three Jugs but could only locate Two Valves before leaving the store.

Our next stop was the Pioneer gas station on Walker Road since it has been over two weeks since we last purchased any gasoline. We were a little shocked to see the price had jumped over Ten Cents a Liter (39 Cents a US gallon).

Last Tuesday we had a very busy day visiting and running errands. Somewhere on that day I managed to do something I have never done before, I lost my set of Trailer Keys off my Belt Clip. Our next stop was Castle Locksmith on Tecumseh Road. Using Kathy’s set of Keys they copied them and we were soon on our way. We have gotten Keys made at other places in the past and had nothing but trouble with them but any Keys made at Castle Locksmith have always worked right the first time.

We drove over to Guardian Storage where after collecting our Mail we drove back to our Climate Controlled Storage Unit. We gathered some Toiletries we had in bins and left behind things we don’t bring south with us that could freeze.

Driving over to the east-end Home Depot I was able to find the third Brass Valve for our Water Jugs. Just as we were about to leave the Plumbing Department we spotted 1-1/4” Pipe Insulation. We just recently had been looking for Swimming Noodles to protect our Tandem Bicycle but everything summer related has been put away. This Pipe Insulation costs less then the Noodles, comes in longer pieces and has a slice up its entire length which will make it easier to install.

It was nearly 1:00 and breakfast was long gone so we again stopped at A&W and tried their New Mozza Mushroom Melt Burgers along with a mug of their famous Root Beer. We were both well satisfied when we left.

Our next stop was Walmart where Kathy found a new Long-Sleeved Nightgown. With the Diabetic Neuropathy her shoulders have become extremely sensitive to these cold night time temperatures.

Since it was still early we stopped at Princess Auto just to walk around for exercise. Barely in the door I met Keith who I’d worked with for a number of years. He’s been fighting Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and even though he looks good and I wished him well things don’t look good for his future. It’s when you hear things like that we really feel good about our decision to Travel and Explore the way we do. We also found the Cargo Net we were looking for.

We arrived Home just before 4:00 and the Rain was starting again. Using my new Key, I let Kathy in before bringing the rest of our things in. Still wearing my Raincoat, I went back outside and tested each of the new Keys. Like I said before we have never gotten a bad Key at Castle Locksmith. The Keys have been made into sets and the Brass Valves work perfectly on the Water Jugs

Our high temperature for today was 54 F (12 C) and is dropping to 37 F (3 C) overnight. With the non-stop Rain our area is getting we had to cycle the furnace a few times to get the chill out of the trailer.

After watching the 6 o’clock Local News we had a bowl of Soup for supper and a Coffee at the Computers. We still have lots to do and only a week to do it in. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

High Winds With Rain, Getting Closer and Getting Things Done.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

When I woke up this morning and saw a few Golfers out on the course I was hoping the Weather Guessers had made a mistake in their forecast. Minutes later as I started making breakfast I realized that they were just addicted to the game because that was when it started raining.

We managed to enjoy our Coffee/Tea and get caught up on our morning reading at the Computers. Some of the Blogs we were reading made us feel like we were being left behind as we read that more of our Canadian Snowbirding Friends had already flown the coop and were now South of the Border. That feeling only lasted seconds when we realized that our time here at the Park is also growing short and is filled with lots of things that will keep us busy.

We managed to get our inside chores completed while listening to the sound of the Rain tapping away on our roof. While Kathy readied the Soup and Open-Faced Grilled Cheese, I was busy sorting the laundry. Lunch tasted wonderful and even helped to warm us slightly from the dampness in the air.

When I arrived at the Park Laundry Room every machine was available for me to use. By the time the washers had finished their Final Spin Cycle I’d managed to complete a couple of Cryptograms as a way of passing time. While moving things from the Washers to the Dryers I removed the Delicates that can’t be put in the Dryers. With the last load going I walked back Home in the lite Drizzle to hang things up.

They say timing is everything and just as I walking in the door Kathy was having a major issue with the Printer. She was trying to print out “Attractions To See In Arizona” but the printer was trying to pull Four to Five sheets of paper at a time and jammed up. While I got the Printer to work the way it was supposed to Kathy hung up the Delicates. By the time I was ready to head back to the Park Laundry Room the Rain was really coming down.

Luckily my Raincoat kept me and the Folded Laundry dry when I got back Home shortly after 4:00. By the time the Laundry was put away Kathy was ready to make supper. Knowing we had food that had to be used before we cross the International Border into the U.S. Kathy decided we’d have Bacon and Eggs. Even the Nutritionist realize that you can eat breakfast at any time of the day. It was more then enough to eat when you aren’t overly active and later we topped it off with our Coffees while we sat at the Computers

The Wind has picked up and the Rain is continuing to fall. The Weather Guessers are warning us about Winds that could exceed 50 MPH tomorrow. Glad we aren’t on the road yet and hoping that anyone driving under these conditions can find someplace safe to sit it out. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Getting Things Done and Things Are Looking Up.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

Things were looking up this morning when I got up before 8:00. It was still on the cool side even after we’d eaten breakfast so I took the time to start going through all those extra Keys that we tend to gather then just put them aside. I now only have to worry about replacing the Three Original Keys that came with our Trailer that I lost on Tuesday. I’ll also be finding a better way to secure my Keys to their Clip
Pepper Steak on a bed of Rice with Cantaloupe for dessert.
Kathy is definitely making certain we don’t have any of the Foods we are not allowed to bring across the International Border into the U.S. as well as not wasting any Food that we have already cooked. Warming up the Leftover Pepper Steak and Rice Kathy realized there wasn’t enough there to feed the both of us. Since Rice is one of those noted Foods she simply cooked whatever was remaining in the Pantry Container and added it to our meal. The end result was we were both well fed. While she was cooking Kathy had me clean up a Cantaloupe and chop it into small Bite Sized Pieces that would last a couple of meals.

After lunch Kathy was still Double-Checking places that we might stop at overnight along with places we may stay for a few days. Using the Internet saves a lot of time but sometimes it gives you so many choices it can leave you Confused.

When I went outside the first thing I did was to use the Sander to smooth down the Body Filler that was used to repair the Rust Spot. It turned out nice and smooth so after cleaning the dust away I managed to get it well Primed. As soon as that was done the Wind picked up and wasn’t about to slow down. Since the metal is now well coated with Primer it can be finished in the Spring when there should be less Wind
Bicycle Carrier installed and the lights wired.
My next chore was to install the Bicycle Carrier that I modified on the rear of the Trailer then reconnect the Driving/Signal Lights. I installed these lights on any Carrier I have made in case our Bicycle Cover blocks the view of the Trailer’s Taillights
A Wing Extension was added on both sides
to carry our Tandem Bicycle.
The Temperature was getting Hot even with the breeze so after taking off my Coveralls I pulled anything that wasn’t in its place in the Basement and repacked it all. I even had time to dump our Waste Tanks.

Then I went through things in our Garden Shed and found plenty that were supposed to be in the Basement and put them there. Readers will remember that the Basement had to be emptied for the Warranty Service back in August at Leisure Trailer. Now there was suddenly plenty of space in the Shed so I started putting our Patio Furniture away for the Winter.

Kathy came outside and immediately started sweeping the Leaves off the Patio. She couldn’t believe everything was in the shed and it still has room for the few remaining things still out. We even had the chance to sit and relax for a few minutes outside before she went in to start getting things ready for supper.

Since it was going to take Fifteen Minutes to get things ready to eat I took the time to mow the grass for (Hopefully) the last time this season. Have I told you how fast this grass can grow?

Supper was the Leftover Honey Garlic Chicken with the Spanish Rice from yesterday along with the rest of the Cantaloupe from lunch for our dessert.

Since there was a Football Game on at 6:00 we had to watch the 11 o’clock Local News. The Weather Guessers showed the Humidex hit 84 F (29 C) today but it is going to turn Wet with Cooler Seasonal Temperatures starting tomorrow. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
