Sweeping, Painting, Sweeping, Painting and More Sweeping.

When the alarm went off at 8:00 this morning I had no problems getting up to start my day but that was a different story for Kathy. It also didn’t help that Tyler was still getting ready for his Co-op in the downstairs bathroom. When I turned the lights on Kathy simply pulled the covers over her head until Tyler finally went upstairs. We had breakfast and packed some Snacks and Water before heading out the door.
Flowers Kathy received for her Birthday.
Our first stop was at Guardian Storage to get the Brooms we had put in our Storage Unit. Remembering how much the trees were dropping their seeds the other day we knew that we would need to clean the Patio a bit more. Before leaving we took the time to get our Mail as well.

We stopped at Subway to pick up a Sandwich for our lunch.
Stirring the Paint.
We were at our site at Wildwood Golf and RV Park by 9:30 and the first thing we had to do was start sweeping. Our Patio was nearly totally brown from all the seeds that were covering it. Once that was accomplished Kathy set up the Table and Chairs while I started applying the Cement Paint that we had purchased. On the Can the Behr listed that One Gallon would cover approximately 50 Square Feet while the Associate at the Paint Desk insisted it would cover close to 350 Square Feet. Maybe he was applying it differently! By the time I’d used the first Gallon I knew that Behr was closer to the mark.

We had an early lunch then after taking the remaining paint out of the truck Kathy headed back to Home Depot to get more Paint in a Five Gallon Pail.
Just Starting.
I had to sweep the remainder of the Patio again before continuing with any painting but it seemed that by the time I had painted a small square I had to sweep the next spot again that I was about to paint. It was a battle to keep the seeds off the Patio. I was just about out of Paint when Kathy returned.

After a short break we both started sweeping the remaining Patio so that I could finish getting the First Coat on. It was nearly 3:00 and too early to start applying the Second Coat so we cleaned up our tools and packed everything away.
Cleaning out a Paint Can so it's not wasted.
Those Trees were dropping Seeds like crazy.
Heading back up Walker Road we made a few stops. Having seen how others use Leaf Blowers to clean their Patios as well as their RV Roofs I decided to look for a Black & Decker Cordless Leaf Blower. We had purchased our Black & Decker Weed Trimmer/Mower with a 20 Volt Lithium Battery from Home Depot two years ago and it works great. I was hoping they would have a Leaf Blower that used the same Battery. They no longer sell the Black & Decker yard tools.

We went to Canadian Tire and couldn’t find what I wanted but they had a small plug in model so we got that. Thinking how much of a pain it is to pull a Power Cord around we drove over to Lowes. They had exactly the Black & Decker Cordless Leaf Blower with a 20 Volt Lithium Battery that I had been looking for. Keeping the Patio free of Seeds while I paint just got easier. I spent more time in Canadian Tire returning the small plug in model that I only got in case.
Talking with our old neighbour Ted for the first time this season.
Looking across our old site.
It was past 5:00 by the time I got back to the car where Kathy had found a coupon that we had got in the mail for Arby’s. It was fast, tasty, satisfying, no dishes to wash, it was at a reduced price and it gave us a chance to People Watch for a while as the seat helped straighten my back.

We’ll be back to the Park to finish the Patio in the morning without spending so much time sweeping. Thanks for following along, feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Celebrating A Birthday.

Our Location today is at Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Even though our area was going to have temperatures just slightly above the low temperature for painting the Patio today the temp would be dipping close to the Freezing Mark tonight. That would cause the paint to break down in very little time so as mentioned in the last couple of Blogs we would be waiting until Monday when the temperatures will be perfect allowing the Paint to cure properly.

We had a lite Brunch with Coffee before spending most of the day on the Computers. Not being active seems to drag us down even further. We didn’t even have lunch nor did we take any pictures.
Kathy waiting for the Campfire in Quartzsite.
For supper Karen arranged a small Birthday Party to celebrate Kathy’s Big Day. The meal was Hamburgers done on the charcoal grill along with Corn on the Cob, steamed Vegetables and a Chocolate Log Cake. Everything tasted wonderful but it was the participation of the entire family that made it so wonderful.

Even though we’ll be busy tomorrow working on our site at Wildwood Golf and RV Park, we are also looking forward to Spring finally arriving without any setbacks to winter. Thanks for following along, feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Sweet Breakfast, Touring The Shop and Wonderful Visits.

Since this was Saturday we weren’t in a big rush to get the day started but we knew we had to get moving when we did. Knowing that Kathy needs more sleep then I do I managed to have all my morning reading finished on the Computer before turning on the light at 9:30.

After getting changed and making the bed we went upstairs for a different kind of breakfast. When we made supper on Thursday Kathy also baked a couple of pies. When we saw there was exactly one piece of each still in the refrigerator that’s what we had along with a hot cup of Coffee. We managed to have a short visit with Karen before we headed out the door at 11:00.
Heavy Clouds most of the day.
Our Temps only reached 48 F (9 C)
Timing was everything, we weren’t in a hurry but we had to be places by certain times. We took Manning Road and zig-zagged the country side through McGregor until we arrived in Amherstburg. Our first stop was Pharma Choice Pharmacy to not only get our normal Three-Month supply of prescription medications but the new meds that Kathy’s Family Doctor had written for the rash on her face. Both were in the form of creams so the Pharmacist had to explain to Kathy how to get the best results.

Our next stop was Shoppers Drug Mart just down the street where we picked up some Vitamins at a cheaper price and with our PC-Optimum Cards our purchases help to save us additional money on future purchases.

It was past 12:30 and sweets for breakfast do not keep your tummy satisfied for very long so we stopped at McDonalds for a Sweet Chili Wrap for our lunch.
A Pet Wash so you don't have the problems at Home.
By 1:00 we were at our son Kevin’s place to find him inside their Travel Trailer fixing things up. When I asked if he was ready to go he suddenly remembered what I was talking about. Kathy told us to have fun and headed off to Walmart.

After a quick Phone Call Kevin and I were on our way to Gay and Liz’s home. Kevin found a 29 Ford Coupe that he is making into a Street-Rod and he has run into a few stumbling blocks. Gay has been working on Street-Rods since he was a youngster and even ran a couple of his cars on the Salt-Flats. Once we arrived it didn’t take long for Gay to start giving Kevin the “Nickel Tour” as he called it and Kevin was filled with questions. When Gay started showing him different things that Kevin hadn’t even thought about he was really surprised and grateful at the same time. Just before we left Liz came out to say hello and was disappointed that Kathy hadn’t come with us to visit.

All the way back to his house Kevin kept saying if he had a Shop like Gay’s he’d never have to go in the house again. Kathy was just pulling into his driveway as we came around the corner. When Kathy saw Kevin smiling ear to ear she knew he was happy to have met Gay and toured his Shop. That was when I told her that she still had the Camera in her purse so we didn’t get any pictures. We had just been visiting for a few minutes when Melissa came home. Just like our weekly visits we had so much to talk about that the time just flew by and we had to say we’ll see you later.
Gerry and Star.
It took less then Five Minutes to drive over to Gerry and Sandy’s house. We’ve traveled together in the past even visiting the US Capital and a few RV Rallies as well. Sandy had been ill earlier this week so we had to reschedule our get-together. Their puppy Star didn’t recognize us at first and was letting us know there would be no funny business but after a few minutes of conversation and a few scratches behind the ears she knew we were safe.
Star is a very happy Puppy.
Gerry drove us all out to a little restaurant in LaSalle called Roma’s. Kathy and I have driven by this place but never stopped. The Atmosphere was very relaxing, the Service fast, the Food was delicious but the Company made it special and the conversation never stopped. We now have another restaurant to go to so we don’t over use the others we tend to frequent.

On our way back to their Home Gerry drove us around some of the areas in Amherstburg that there are proposed changes that will be happening in the near future. Back at their house Sandy served Strawberry Cheesecake and Coffee but the conversation never stopped. It also seemed like Star was trying to get into entertaining us for a while. Before we knew it was time to say our Good Nights and head back to Tecumseh. Thanks Gerry and Sandy for another Enjoyable Visit.

The other day Gasoline Prices in our area skyrocketed up to $1.339 a Liter ($5.189 a US Gallon) so when I spotted the sign saying $1.205 a Liter ($4.669 a US Gallon) we stopped in to top off the Car.
Full Moon out to greet us tonight.
When we arrived at Karen’s, the house was in darkness but Sanford and Tyler were there making certain the house was Safe. Kathy read the instructions on the New Medicated Creams before using the one for night-time. When she put on her CPAP Mask it started to really burn. Fortunately, we tried one of my CPAP Mask Liners and it seemed to solve the problem.

With more cooler temperatures tomorrow we’ll find other things to keep us busy. Thanks for following along, feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Morning Appointment, Change Of Plans and A Slight Visit.

Our Location today is at Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Even though it wasn’t necessary I was sitting getting caught up on my reading at the Computer by 7:30 this morning. Along with reading Blogs and E-mails I even had the chance to read beyond the Local News all before waking Kathy up by turning the lights on at 9:30. Time was something that we no longer had a lot of because she had an appointment plus I had to sort the Laundry and bring it along.

We were out the door by 10:20 and on our way towards Windsor. Our destination was Kathy’s Doctor’s Office for 11:00. Since we arrived in the southwest last fall Kathy has had a rash on her face and no matter what she did it wouldn’t go away. Having used a cream that her Doctor had prescribed did nothing but cause it to burn. When she walked out she said her Doctor suspected Kathy’s body was rejecting the cream and was now allergic to it. We’ll pick up the New Cream and some Antibiotics in Amherstburg tomorrow.

It was past 11:30 when we headed to the Laundromat on the east end but since we didn’t eat breakfast this morning we needed something. Still having plenty of coupons that we get in the mail to use we went to Arby’s where we enjoyed one of their Roast Beef Combos for lunch.

We felt re-energized and rested when we arrived at the Lauzon Road Laundromat. Karen has told us to use her Washer and Dryer many times but it is so High-Tech that it takes forever to get a single load done. At the Laundromat we load up Three Washers and when that is done Three Dryers. Kathy and I get together to fold the clothes and we were done by 2:00.

Not wanting to go back to Karen’s just to sit in the basement we chose to go to the nearby Tecumseh Mall. The first store we stopped at was Dollarama where we had a few more necessities to pick up. As we were about to leave we ran into Kathie along with Christine and Kingsley who were also out walking around the stores for something to do. We had a short visit right in the store before saying our good byes.

We were going to do more walking but not with the articles we had just purchased so I went to put them in the Car. One of the reasons we did the Laundry today rather then Painting the Patio was the forecast for Rain. It may have been 64 F (18 C) but I grabbed my jacket from the car to keep dry because it was just starting to Rain.

Since it was nearly 4:00 we decided to get a sandwich from Subway in the Food Court. While we ate we had a chance to People Watch one of our favourite pastimes. We watch how groups get together passing their time by playing cards while others are there using the Free WiFi. The most interesting things we watch are what Clothes people wear and some of the Hairstyles that all look like an experiment that went wrong.
Where have you been all day?
You were supposed to play with me.
That look says many things.
We arrived at Karen’s in Tecumseh just before 5:00 and were surprised to find only Sanford home. He was extremely excited to see us and tried to inspect every piece of Folded Clothes that we took from the Clothes Hamper.

With other errands we have to run tomorrow and the Fall like weather forecasted, a high of 48 F (9 C) and Rain, we’ll be waiting to do the Patio towards Monday. Another reason for doing Laundry today. Thanks for following along, feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Medical Test, Mall Walking and Cooking Supper.

Our Location today is at Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Even though Kathy slept fairly soundly last night with our having to set the alarm for an 8:00 wake up this morning she would be tired for the rest of the day. I’ve been having restless nights lately so it was no wonder when it felt like I might later need a Snap to keep going but managed to sneak by without it.
An actual Sunrise Picture.
We were on our way to Windsor by 9:00 having just missed most of the morning Rush Hour Traffic. Kathy had a previously scheduled medical test and as was expected the place was packed. It used to be that you could only get these tests done in the Hospitals but more and more Independent Labs are being used.

With the next few day’s temperatures applying the Paint to our Patio will have to wait. It’s now looking like it won’t happen until Monday when not only the temperatures but the overall weather will be perfect.

By 9:30 we were heading to the Devonshire Mall more for just something to do. We had planned on walking around but got sidetracked when we stopped at Lids. Since this winter Kathy has started wearing Ball Cap styled Hats and she thought maybe they might have something she would like. That was when the Clerk reminded her that they also made Custom Caps and since her It’s about time Visors and Caps are looking worn we each ordered a new Cap.

It was going to take some time before they were ready so we walked around a few stores including the Dollarama. The Paint that we are using on our Patio is not cheap, so in order to clean out the containers as much as possible we purchased some low-priced Spatulas and Gloves that we can simply toss out when we are done.

Having had a very lite breakfast this morning and it was past 11:00 we stopped at Taco Bell in the Food Court for their Value Meal for lunch. Back at Lids the Caps looked great and we were soon headed back to Tecumseh and Karen’s house.
I-10 eastbound towards Quartzsite.
We got caught up on our reading but around 2:00 we headed upstairs to make supper. We wouldn’t be eating for some time but we had things to get ready. While I was Cubing the Frozen Steak, Kathy was cutting the Peppers and Onions that would be part of her Pepper Steak Recipe.

Once it was starting to render down nicely when Kathy sent me to Zehrs grocery store for Baking Supplies. It’s a good thing for Cell Phones because Kathy called just before I reached the Checkouts needing one more item.

Back at Karen’s we worked together to make a Lemon Meringue Pie and an Apple Pie for dessert. We had a little laugh because when you work in a strange kitchen, things can get a little messy. When Greg walked in from work and didn’t know what was happening he had a shocked look on his face. Kathy simply told him we were making his supper. He smiled and walked away. We had the kitchen cleaned and the dishes all washed before the Pies were finished baking.

We normally like to let our Pepper Steak meld all the flavours overnight but with limited space we let it rest for a couple of hours and started cooking the Rice, warming the Sauce and the Pepper Steak completing it just as Karen was coming in from work. Topping it off with Parmesan Cheese made it over the top and the Lemon Meringue Pie made it all worthwhile.

With another appointment in the morning we’ll see what else we get into tomorrow. Thanks for following along, feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

Errands Galore, Power Washing The Patio and Kathy Gets Sick.

Our Location today is at Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

After having a restless night’s sleep, we were both upstairs shortly after 9:00 having breakfast. Since Kylla is on the afternoon shift at work and that she also tends to baby Sanford we didn’t even see him this morning. We didn’t spend too much time on the Computers mainly to just check our E-mail and The Weather Network before heading out the door.

We needed to make a few stops the first at the Credit Union to do some banking. Our next stop was Home Depot where I went to get a Floor Squeegee that we forgot the other day while Kathy went to the Instore Subway outlet to get a sandwich for our lunch. I was delayed because the aisle that those tools were supposed to be in was incorrect but it made for perfect timing. Kathy had just gotten to the car and started telling me that the lone Subway employee had just been given an order for Fifty Submarine Sandwiches plus he was trying to serve the other walk-in customers as well. Kathy reminded him to breath and she got him to smile. Leaving there since we had to drive by we stopped to collect our Mail at Guardian Storage.
You can see the Stains on the Patio from this angle.
We were back at our site at Wildwood Golf and RV Park around 11:00 and we immediately started removing things from our Garden Shed so we could get our Painting Supplies Bin out. Taking only what we would need and replacing the rest in the Shed. I managed to walk our Picnic Table with the Gazebo Box on it from the Patio to the crushed stoned driveway. There were other things that had to be moved as well including the Brick Garden Edging that was actually sitting on the Patio itself. Kathy had finished removing the Winter Jackets from our Golden Cedar Trees that had protected them from heavy snowfalls that would have broken their branches.
Using the Pressure Washer the Patio was soon clean.
It was nearly 12:30 by this time so we stopped to have lunch. Taking our Bistro Set from inside the Shed we rested while we ate. The Sun was shining with only a slight breeze because there were only a few clouds but the temperature was only 52 F (11 C).
Across the Top and Left has been cleaned.
When we left last fall it had been Raining and we had no idea just how dirty our Patio was. Starting in one corner with the Pressure Washer then working my way along you could actually see the difference as we removed the built-up Dirt and Stains. Kathy went behind me with the Squeegee to remove the excess water. At 2:30 we were using the Stain Remover that was put on using a small Watering Can then scrubbed into the Stains. When we closed up shop after 4:00 we were looking at a totally different looking Patio. We have to leave it dry out and tomorrow is looking like a great day to apply the Textured Cement Paint.
Taco Salad.
We were both tired and surprisingly hungry by that time and since we weren’t in the mood for Fast Food we went to Gilligan’s in Amherstburg for our supper. Kathy had a Taco Salad while I had a Chicken Wrap with Fries. The food was delicious, the atmosphere relaxing and the seats were comfortable. We called this our early Birthday Celebration.
Chicken Wrap and Fries.
It was past 5:30 when we drove over to Kevin and Melissa’s for our Weekly Visit. We were hearing all about the wedding they attended last week and having a good time until Kathy started feeling ill. Not what we expected but we had to say Good Night and head back to Tecumseh early.
Cloudy sky with increased winds.
Kathy has Medical Tests in the morning, then either both of us or just myself will be getting at least one coat of Paint on the Patio tomorrow. Thanks for following along, feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

More Then One Plan Changed Today.

Our Location today is at Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Don’t know why we both seemed to sleep like a couple of rocks last night and are starting to get in the bad habit of sleeping in. I was up and reading at my Computer by 8:30 and managed to get all my reading finished before Kathy got up.
Sanford and his poor Blanky.
We were the only ones home along with Sanford and managed to have a lite breakfast in accordance to our planned Activity Level. While finishing our Coffees at the dining room table I thought that I could hear a phone ringing off in the distance then I realized that it might be our’s downstairs. Rushing to open the basement door I managed to hear the last couple of rings. We luckily have the Automatic Answering System that collects messages.

After listening I immediately called our friend Gerry. When I talked to him he told me how Sandy could barely get out of bed this morning so the Dinner Date we had for this evening would have to be Rescheduled. We would rather wait until Sandy is feeling better so that she can also enjoy the visit. “Get Well Soon Sandy!

Kathy checks our Accounts all the time to be certain we are not getting charged for something we didn’t get and when she finds something I get to make the Phone Calls. This morning I had to call Norton Antivirus because they charged us for the same Product Number two days in a row. They assured me they had only made one charge. Calling the Credit Card Company, they said it was not uncommon for Companies to put a Payment Pending Charge ahead of the actual Charge itself. If it goes through on our account again I get to recall Norton first.

That had delayed our departure so after stopping at Dollarama for a Watering Can to use for cleaning our Patio we stopped at A&W to have lunch. Using a coupon that we had gotten in the mail we had Mama and Papa Burger Combos at a greatly discounted price and they weren’t overfilling.

We had barely gotten in the Car when the lite Drizzle turned to a heavy Rain. We didn’t have our Raincoats so thought about waiting to go out to the Park came to mind for today. We chose to go to Better Locksmith and have Two More of the Keys that I lost duplicated. Of all the Locksmiths in this area they are the only ones that have made all our Keys right the first time.

Kathy had more Bookkeeping to do so we headed back to Karen’s for the rest of the afternoon. I managed to finish assembling Two Sets of Replacement Keys.

When it got close to 6:00 we decided to take in a movie but were just starting to get slightly hungry. Due to Kathy’s Diabetes she has to have at least a lite meal or snack so we stopped at Wendy’s where we each had one of their Chicken Wraps off the Value Menu and a Senior’s Soft Drink. By saying Seniors, our drinks were Free and like the rest of the meal not overfilling. Again eating according to our planned Activity Level.

When we got to the Lakeshore Cinema we were surprised to see how packed it was compared to the last time we were here. After choosing a movie to see we found out that this Theater you had to choose your seats and the only ones remaining together after On-Line Reservations were up front by the screen. No Thanks! Our next choice was not showing there yet. (Why was it advertised then?) The only other thing to see was a Comedy Spoof called Super Troopers 2. It was supposed to be PG but with some Nudity and Course Language it left a lot to be desired.

We’ll take a different approach to getting things done Tomorrow and see how things turn out. Thanks for following along, feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
