Costly Day Off.

Our Location today is at Windsor, Ontario.

We were out the door shortly after 9:00 this morning with our lists to be certain we accomplished everything we needed.

Our first stop was Service Ontario where we needed to pick up our new License Stickers for both the Car and the Truck. When we arrived at the Pickwick Location there were only a few cars in the lot but a lot of Notices taped inside the Windows. Apparently someone ignored precautions and exposed the entire staff to the Coronavirus. They listed the addresses of the other locations that could help us out.

The next Service Ontario location was at the Dorwin Plaza. I circled around so that Kathy could keep an eye on the line until I got closer to the door. Counting my way back in the line I ended up being Number 73 and other people joined in after me. When I reached about 20 from the door Kathy came over to join me. Most were wearing Masks even outside but everyone was maintaining Six Feet of Social Distancing. Surprisingly we were only there an Hour and a Half.

Our next stop was at Legion 594 where I’ve been a member since 1999. Due to all these Lock-Downs there has been problems when it came to paying my yearly dues. Even though the Bar is not open they still have Take-Out Meals most evenings as a way of keeping things running. Linda was in the office and within minutes had everything straightened around that the National Office had messed up.

Driving back to the East Side of Windsor it was minutes from noon when we stopped at Wendy’s Drive-Thru to pick up lunch. Where can Two People both have Chicken Wraps, Small Chocolate Frosties and Seniors Soft Drinks for a total of $7.41.

We swung by the Apartment to get rid of our morning Coffees and to pick up the Truck. Of course we worked together to boost it before it would start.

I showed Kathy most of the route that I take to work in the mornings. The rest was easy for her to figure out. Our destination was Windsor Gas and Diesel. I’d spoken to Jim earlier and he said the same as he always does “Bring it in and we’ll fix it up”. When Don put the Tester to the Primary Battery was at 50% and the Secondary Battery was only at 5%. There was no wondering why the Truck would not start. I was told not running the Truck through the Cold Winter did the damage.

We stopped at VitalAire where we picked up our new CPAP Masks. They had left messages a few times but with our Voice Messages not working properly on our house phone we never got them.

Next we stopped at Motor City community Credit Union to pick up additional rolls of Coinage for doing our laundry. With additional clothes used for work there’s more to clean.

Swinging over to Dollarama we went in for Bread and Pens and came out empty-handed.

Going to Zehr’s grocery store we picked up Produce and a few other things to tied us over until the weekend.

Heading in the direction of home we stopped at the Dollarama closest to our location. We walked the aisles as a way of getting some exercise. We found the Bread, Pens and Carbonated Juice.

By the time we were back in the Apartment it was time to make supper and I had decided to make a Vegetable Cheese Omelette.

On the 6 o’clock Local News the Windsor/Essex Region had 25 New Coronavirus Cases bringing the Active Cases to 223 of which 114 were Variants of Concern.

Today’s high temperature reached 73 F (23 C) but will slowly increase throughout the week.

For a day off it was a costly one. Guess that’s why I’ll be back at work in the morning.

Long Sleep, Blog Reading and Low Numbers.

Our Location today is at Windsor, Ontario.

Having to stay close to my work day sleeping hours is causing a bit of a problem for my weekends. I slept in a little past 7:00 this morning and the timer on my CPAP Machine showed we’d been connected for 8:59 minutes. I’ve never been one that required much sleep to survive but lately it seems that’s changed.

Kathy joined me by 8:00 for Toast at breakfast.

Sitting at the Computers I actually had all the Morning Blogs we follow read by 11:30 when we had Chicken Noodle Soup for an early lunch along with a piece of the Banana Nut Bread that Kathy baked for dessert.

As soon as the Dishes were cleaned up I finally took the time to soak my feet in an Epson Salt bath. I’ve needed to do this for some time but kept putting it off. Between some extra chores and more On-Line research I did manage to get a couple of short bouts of exercise in. These were not my normal all out routines but they are keeping me going.

For supper I made a Caesars Salad while Kathy grilled a couple of Basa Fillets that we topped off with a glass of Carbonated Juice (Fake Wine).

On the 6 o’clock Local News the Windsor/Essex Region had 21 New Coronavirus Cases.

Today’s high temperature reached 68 F (20 C) but will slowly increase throughout the week.

There were more Blogs to read this evening before we watched “The Good Witch” this evening.

Tomorrow we’ll be running errands and enjoying the great outdoors.

Good Appointment, Chores Complete and Getting Caught Up.

Our Location today is at Windsor, Ontario.

Last night it was only minutes after publishing our Blog that I was in bed because I was that tired. Even though it was before 7:30 when I opened my eyes my CPAP Machine indicated that I had been connected for over Nine Hours.

It felt good to have the day off even though we weren’t in a rush we had someplace to be today. We had the chance to check the morning temperature before bundling up to head out the door. There was a Gusty North Wind that was making the 45 F (7 C) feel much colder.

It was shortly after 10:00 when headed out the door. There’s a chance we can get the Truck in the shop this week but it will be easier if we can just drive it there. Using the Car for a boost it took Fifteen Minutes before it would start.

We were early for our appointment which took longer then expected and we never turned the Truck off. It was nearly 12:30 when we finished so we went to the Wendy’s Drive-Thru for lunch. They’ve again lowered the price of their small Frosties bring the total cost of lunch to $7.41 for the both of us. We waited until we were back at our building before turning the Truck off.

Inside the Apartment the first thing I did was to take my Coveralls down to the Laundry Room. To get a little exercise I climbed the Six Flights of Stairs back to our Apartment. Then collecting the Trash and Recycle was able to dispose of it before my Coveralls were ready to bring back upstairs. By not putting them in the Dryer there is still a chance to get more stains out in the next wash.

This afternoon and this evening I managed to get totally caught up on my Blog Reading and even managed to leave a few Comments on some.

For supper we had Macaroni and Cheese along with a dish of Strawberries for dessert.

On the 6 o’clock Local News the Provincial Government repeated yesterday’s claim that the Windsor/Essex Region would be able to start giving people their Second Vaccine after only Three Months rather than waiting for the previously planned Four. Our area also had more 28 New Coronavirus Cases bringing the Active Cases to 231.

That was our high for Fifteen Hours of Sunshine.

Today’s high temperature was 61 F (16 C) later this afternoon with our overnight reaching 41 F (5 C).

Setting Sun reflecting off buildings.

Think I’ll be in bed early again tonight. I can barely keep my eyes open.

Getting Wet, Getting Sorted, Getting Tired.

Our Location today is at Windsor, Ontario.

I never used to give it a second thought before my retirement but now I’m glad that todays Friday. It could have something to do with not working for Ten Years then being under Lock-Down for another Year that has led to this.

There was a lite Rain all the way to Work. Having seen the Owner’s Car out front I had no problem getting in the building. It was cool enough that I had chosen to wear a sweater.

By the time I had changed into my Coveralls others were running into the building completely soaking wet.

My job is basically self assigned unless something has been planned ahead of time. Today there was a single Parts Carrier that needed repair but it took me longer then the Two did the other day. With so much Humidity in the air my Safety Glasses kept steaming up. With nothing else needing repair when I finished that Carrier I walked it over to where it would soon be added to the Paint Line.

I’ve mentioned that this is an older building and it has a leaky roof. Today there were large containers and buckets that were being set up in order to catch the Rain pouring in. I had to empty the Five Gallon Pail closest to me outside of the Compound out the pedestrian door at least every Hour.

Not bad for 11:00 in the morning.

If you recall the Mess the Compound was in when I first started. Well whenever I get a few minutes here or there I’ve been slowly putting Plumbing in one pile, Electrical in another, Tools over there and Material stocks over here.

Looking around the Compound there were also Parts Bins all around but the problem was they all looked the same. They were all a mixture of Parts, Pieces, Electrical, Plumbing, Garbage, Tools and Scrap. By the end of the shift the Garbage had been tossed, the Scrap put in the proper bin and everything else sorted according to what it was. The Pieces I needed on the Proto-Type the other day we now have plenty though there are now Eight Empty Parts Bins.

Due to the Rain I only spoke to Kathy for a few minutes from the Lunch Room. She had been baking a Banana Bread for us to enjoy later.

When Paul the Owner saw what I’ve accomplished so far he said I was doing a great job and can’t wait to see how it turns out. Since we’re celebrating the American Holiday it’s a long weekend for me.

After parking the Car I knew we were getting a North Wind just the way it stung my face. In the Apartment Kathy immediately served up Open Faced Roast Beef Sandwiches with Niblet Corn as a side along with a slice of Apple Pie for dessert.

As soon as supper was over I was in the shower which added more life to my step.

On the 6 o’clock Local News the Provincial Government announced that the Windsor/Essex Region would be able to start giving people their Second Vaccine after only Three Months rather then the previously planned Four. Our area also had more 24 New Coronavirus Cases bringing the Active Cases to 250 of which 132 were Variants of Concern.

Today’s high temperature was 50 F (10 C) which was around Midnight. The afternoon temperature to reach 45 F (7 C). We had more Rain then expected but it finally stopped around the time I left work heading for home.

Tomorrow we have an appointment before we do some grocery shopping.
