Tired Shopping Sunday

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

There is just no sense in the world sometimes. I started back exercising and pretty well every day this week we have been in the fresh air. We should be sleeping like logs especially since we have the windows cracked open for fresh air at night. Strangely for the last two nights I spend hours trying to get to sleep and minutes later I am wide awake. By morning I might have totalled a couple of hours sleep but spent the rest of the day dragging my backside around.
Even though we didn’t get out of bed too early this morning Kathy still felt tired though she slept fairly sound. That just reinforces the statement I’ve made in the past, “we sleep better in our trailer”.
After breakfast we did our E-mail and blog reading before getting other computer related work completed and I was in no shape to do any exercising because of the lack of sleep.
Once lunch was finished we headed out for some walking and possibly more gift shopping. After stopping at Toys-R-Us we ended up at the Devonshire Mall. We managed to get all kinds of ideas with little luck so we stopped at the food court for a shared snack. We spent time people watching while we discussed possible purchases and relaxed.
Leaving the Mall we cut through our old neighborhood on our way to Michaels. We tried a number of ideas before making any purchases and we were happy with our choices. Considering there is only 86 days left before Christmas we are very fortunate to have better than half our shopping complete and most of it already wrapped.
We arrived back at the apartment just in time for supper and the 6 o’clock news finding out what is happening locally as well as weather in other parts of the province.
Once the dishes were washed and put away we went over to Karen and Greg’s for a visit. Last weekend they were so booked with hockey games for Tyler and other events that we couldn’t get together for our weekly visit. Before we left Greg’s parents Ray and Rose arrived and we had more catching up to do with them.
Finally back home it’s time to catch up on blogs we follow and hopefully we’ll get a good night’s sleep. Thanks for following along with us and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Active Day

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

With only 87 days left before Christmas and with lots of the gifts we have already purchased Kathy and I thought it would be nice to have a relaxing day but there is always some other things needed doing before we can have that.
There are those errands that everyone has to do in order to enjoy life. So our first stop was at the Credit Union in order for us to have funds to have fun (pun intended).
Next we had to stop at the Guardian Storage Yard for two reasons; 1. To purchase some heavy cardboard boxes. 2. Get some of our shoes left in the trailer.
Lastly we stopped for a quick snack and coffee at Tim Horton’s to hold us over until we have lunch a little later.
Our destination was the Ruthven Apple Festival. Even though this was our first time attending it is something that is an annual event. Like all communities that have these fundraisers to raise moneys to support programs that our governments have cut funding to.
There are lots of vendors that we might have seen at other festivals of this sort as well as many other local merchants. There were also local farmers selling produce they had grown locally as well as a church selling homemade pies from the Women’s Auxiliary. They had live bands keeping everyone entertained the entire time we were there.
The food vendors had a different spin on the foods they had to offer but Kathy and I decided to eat light and simple since we had already had a snack on the way there.
After buying some of the local produce we headed back home and started catching up on our blog reading. As a fluke I was reading comments left by Travel Bug. This didn’t sound like any RV blogger that I’d heard of before so I thought that I would check it out.
I have written often that It’s about time we do things for ourselves because our lives can change in an instant. What I read was unbelievable and if you read what happened to Susan and Bob in Corpus Cristi, Texas at Travel Bug you will agree that your life can change in a instant. Once supper was finished and we watched the 6 o’clock news I started reading more blogs and was shocked for a second time in one day. I was reading The Travels of Jim and Rosie and again their lives were changed in an instant while in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
New way to Recycle old tires.
Make a swing for the wee grands.
These folks need a lot of prayers and moral support so click onto the links to read all about it. These folks were just doing everyday things everyone does and are now having to change their plans. That is why if you want to enjoy life or the RV lifestyle don’t wait until it’s too late. Do it now!

Cleaning Day

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

This morning there was no rush to beat an imaginary alarm clock only to wake rested. There was a small chore that I had not completed last night so it only seemed natural that I would wake just long enough for me to complete it before Kathy woke.
The leaves are starting to show a change the color of trees which seems very strange to us because we have not had any night time lows in our region cold enough to bring on a frost. The frost is what normally triggers the change in the trees and the closest we have had frost is north of Sarnia.
After breakfast we did our normal work on the computers and then Kathy started wrapping the Christmas gifts we purchased yesterday knowing that there is only 88 days left before their delivery day. Myself I doned my exercise clothes and started my workout routine. With this only being the third day of getting back to my schedule I am far from the goal I have set for myself. I also know that since the last time I had such a feat was over twenty years ago so it will take longer to pull off.
After lunch I figured that I’d try the apartment’s policy of letting the tenants wash their vehicles. That is right this building allows you to wash your vehicle once a month using their hose and water through the warmer season. I actually managed to wash both the truck and car getting rid of a lot of road grime and bugs. Now I only have to clean the windows inside and out and make certain the fluid levels are good before the start of winter.
With supper and the dishes out of the way it is now time to have a relaxing evening and maybe some of it will be spent away from the computers. Thanks for following along with us and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Lights Out

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

I must have been thinking in my sleep because even with the exercise and fresh air we’d gotten yesterday I kept waking. When that happens I always seem tired when I wake up in the morning. We were both up before 8:30this morning knowing we had to have our breakfast made before 9:00 or we’d be eating out.
A notice was posted last week that the electrical power to the building was being shut down at 9:00 this morning for an upgrade to the service. This would last for approximately six hours and would include the power to the elevators.
Just as Kathy and I finished drinking our coffees the lights went out. Fortunately the weather was cool and sunny so that meant we didn’t need to go someplace for AC like in the summer months and we still had plenty of sunlight coming in to see what we needed. So one of the first things we did was to finish wrapping the Christmas gifts we had purchased the other day. Kathy knowing that there is only 89 days left before the big day decided we could continue looking this afternoon.
After lunch we went to pick some shirts up we’d ordered at a Nantais Sportswear Shop.
Then we stopped in at Walmart to see if we might have missed something when looking the other day. Not only did we miss something the other day but there were associates everywhere putting new items on the shelves. Trying not to miss anything we walked aisle after aisle until we started feeling tired and hungry. The reason for feeling that way was because we had been shopping for over three hours. We did manage to make another dent in our Christmas list.
We made a quick stop at the trailer to drop off containers we’d emptied the other day. I also took some RV cleaning supplies out of the basement to prevent them from freezing if the temperatures were to dip that low.
Back at the apartment building the power was still out so that meant hauling all our treasures up the stairs. No sooner did we walk in to our apartment and put everything down and the electric power came back on. By the time I went and parked the truck Kathy was serving our supper.
Most of you are thinking that’s impossible. Think back to yesterday’s post where I wrote that Kathy had spent the day cooking meals ahead. Today we ate all our meals at home even without power for most of the day.
After supper we headed out to Amherstburg to have our Wednesday night visit with our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa. We had delayed our visit by a day thinking we’d be stopping in earlier because of our power outage today. We had our usual joyous visit but were shocked at how early it is getting dark these days.
It was after 9:00 by the time we got home and now it’s about time to get caught up on the computer work for the day and the parking lot lights are still not on.

Comfortable Day.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Being able to have the windows ajar or wide open this last week has helped both Kathy and I improve the quality of sleep that we should be entitled to. Again this morning we were slow to awaken just before 9:00 and enjoy a leisurely breakfast before sitting ourselves in front of our computers.
By 10:30 Kathy was in the kitchen going through the refrigerator and pantry seeing what kind of meals she could cook up for the next few days. Kathy doesn’t believe in cooking one meal at a time but for sometimes as far ahead as a week and then when time for that meal comes along it is quickly heated in the microwave and served in minutes.
Myself I set out to exercising again today in order to get myself back into my workout routine. I have been slacking off since the beginning of the year. Monday I kept my promise to help myself keep healthy and started back into my exercises. The one thing I am truly watching is to start back slowly and build up gradually. That advice is something I forgot to follow the last time and suffered with severe muscle pains.
Once I was finished and cleaned up Kathy asked me to go to the Metro Grocery store for some supplies that she needed to continue with her cooking. Since I was going downstairs to get the mail I just walked the single block over. The weather was cloudy but comfortable and with no prediction of rain in the forecast so I didn’t even take a jacket along with me.
On the return walk I ran into another Retiree from the casting plant we used to work in. We did a quick accounting of what each of us has been up to and were heading our separate ways in less than five minutes.  By the time I walked into the building the scent of rain was in the air.
Kathy was just finishing lunch as I walked in the apartment. During lunch we started hearing first than seeing rain coming down in waves across the parking lot. Was I glad to be home nice and dry. Soon the rain stopped but the temperatures really started to dip.

I spent the rest of the afternoon responding to E-mails and reading blogs while Kathy continued cooking. Now you know why I have to exercise so much. After supper Kathy noted that she had spent the day cooking and had not finished wrapping the Christmas gifts we had purchased yesterday. Such a Slacker she knows there is only 90 days left before the big day.

Resume Blunders

I once reviewed a resume that was handwritten on line yellow paper.

One of the jobs was listed as "Central Intelligence Agency, Langley, VA,"

and the description of the job was, "I'm not authorized to divulge

the nature of my job duties while in the employ of the CIA."

Frugal Day.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Kathy and I have really been enjoying these comfortable temperatures the last few days. We’ve been having the windows open enjoying the sounds of the birds and the cooler breezes with the oxygen enriched air blowing through the apartment. The best part of the fresh air is it helps us to sleep soundly at night.
Kathy had to go for her three month blood test today but instead of setting the alarm we took the we’ll get there when we get there attitude. The strange part is we slept like logs and just woke up and were out the door before 9:00 this morning. That doesn’t happen when we set the alarm and have the AC on at night. Since she cannot eat before these tests I will wait and eat at the same time as she does so as not to cause her temptation. Strangely she was done in less than ten minutes today.
With more errands to run we stopped at McDonald’s for breakfast. Micky D’s is not one of our favorite places to eat but we had a coupon that allowed both of us a coffee, a hash brown and sandwich for $4.99. To top it off today is the first day of their Monopoly Game for this year. Between our two breakfasts we managed to win a cheeseburger and small pop as well as a number of game stickers.
This guy has been really busy gathering food for the winter.
We are always seeing him skurrying across the parking lot.
Since we were driving by Walmart we stopped in to look around and do some walking. Again we lucked out finding more Christmas gifts. What the bad thing was that I thought we still had 93 days left until Christmas and I was wrong. Christmas is exactly 3 months from today in other words only 91 days left before the big day.
After we left Walmart we stopped to check if a clothing order had arrived at a store but it hadn’t so we headed to the trailer. We had emptied a number of containers from the other day when we had removed some of our food stock from the trailer to return. Again today we also took more of the items from the pantry to bring home for the end of the season.
As we left the trailer our stomachs were telling us it was past lunch time. Since we still had more Micky D coupons we braved having our second meal of the day there. Using the free coupons we had won earlier and a coupon lunch was less than $5.00.  Two meals for two people cost us less than $11.00 with the taxes which is not bad in one day.
After arriving back at the apartment we spent the afternoon sorting and putting our food from the trailer away before barbecuing some pork kabobs for supper. Now dishes are done and everything is put away it’s time to enjoy our evening. Thanks for stopping by and feel free to follow along with us and leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Back to Routine.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

With all the fresh air that Kathy and I had yesterday we didn’t have any problems sleeping last night as a fact we nearly slept until 9:00. Being retired does have its perks. The only problem we had was when our feet hit the cold floors upon getting out of bed.
Not a good walk if you are overweight.
With breakfast out of the way we got caught up on our blog reading. Then Kathy continued doing some bookkeeping while I finally did what I have been promising to do for a while. I started exercising again.
Even Tighter
Back this spring I was trying to get a few projects completed before we started travelling with the trailer. I started doing shorter workouts in order to spend more time repairing and building things for our needs to better equip the trailer. I was also working on the fire pit patio at our daughter’s home and because I was doing that in the spring the weather dictated when I would work on it so again so I shortened my workouts even more.
After a while I always seemed to have something to do and stopped my exercise all together. As time wore on I was feeling all the aches and pains that I knew were due to my lack of physical activity but I still found an excuse not to do it. So I made a promise to Kathy and myself that today I needed to get back on track. Even though it was much short and with lighter weights now the question is why did I wait so long to do it. Tonight I am still not back to my old self but still feel energized.
This afternoon I managed to finish the three logistics files that I didn’t do last week. I only had the energy to do one file that took me the better part of the day. My next workout is now scheduled for Wednesday morning.
Kathy managed to finish wrapping all the Christmas gifts we have purchased to this point. Neither of us like waiting to do that at the last minute because there is only 94 days left to Christmas day. Also since there is really no place to hide the gifts in our apartment if company comes to visit if they are wrapped nobody can tell what they are.
