Last night before hitting the sack I made sure the door was locked and the windows were closed but that didn’t help. When Kathy and I woke up this morning you can imagine the look of horror on our faces. It was something that we had not expected especially since we were living in a secure building. You need a key or someone has to let you in but that didn’t matter. As soon as we walked into the dining room it hit us. It was darn well cold in here.
The temperature we had yesterday morning 63 F (17 C) was our high for the day. Nobody told us we’d need to turn the heat on so early. It’s not even fall yet even though it will arrive on Saturday. I think this would be acceptable if we lived in the northern part of the province. We live in the most southern part of Canada. We have even been labeled Canada’s Florida because of our warmer than normal temperatures.
Somehow communities throughout the province of British Columbia have taken our summer like weather breaking all kinds of records and sent us this unprecedented cold. It almost makes us feel like we have to wear long pants and heaven forbid a coat. If it keeps up this way we’ll be seeing that white stuff on the ground before Thanksgiving. OH NO! Heck it’s still 99 days until Christmas but it feels like it’s only a week away.
We have been getting comments from more of the Snowbirds that we follow saying that they make certain to get there shopping done early because they will be away. If Christmas arrives early they might not be on the road on time.
With this being Wednesday we head out to Amherstburg to visit with our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa. School just started a couple of weeks ago but grandsons Cameron and Matthew are busy with school work and making new friends at school.

It’s about time.

Watch out Florida, here we come!
ReplyDeleteIt's decidedly cooler here as well. Right now the thermometer outside is showing 18 (C)but when the wind picks up it sure feels cooler.
ReplyDeleteNo weather worries to speak of other than that though. Bundle up!
We are still wearing shorts during the day here in Conneticut, but put jacket and pants on by the evening. Sitting closer to the fire helps also.
ReplyDeleteSummer just flew by and we enjoyed every, minute of it. Cooling off now getting in the mood to head south soon and warm up again.
