Sweeping, Painting, Sweeping, Painting and More Sweeping.

Our Location today is at Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

When the alarm went off at 8:00 this morning I had no problems getting up to start my day but that was a different story for Kathy. It also didn’t help that Tyler was still getting ready for his Co-op in the downstairs bathroom. When I turned the lights on Kathy simply pulled the covers over her head until Tyler finally went upstairs. We had breakfast and packed some Snacks and Water before heading out the door.
Flowers Kathy received for her Birthday.
Our first stop was at Guardian Storage to get the Brooms we had put in our Storage Unit. Remembering how much the trees were dropping their seeds the other day we knew that we would need to clean the Patio a bit more. Before leaving we took the time to get our Mail as well.

We stopped at Subway to pick up a Sandwich for our lunch.
Stirring the Paint.
We were at our site at Wildwood Golf and RV Park by 9:30 and the first thing we had to do was start sweeping. Our Patio was nearly totally brown from all the seeds that were covering it. Once that was accomplished Kathy set up the Table and Chairs while I started applying the Cement Paint that we had purchased. On the Can the Behr listed that One Gallon would cover approximately 50 Square Feet while the Associate at the Paint Desk insisted it would cover close to 350 Square Feet. Maybe he was applying it differently! By the time I’d used the first Gallon I knew that Behr was closer to the mark.

We had an early lunch then after taking the remaining paint out of the truck Kathy headed back to Home Depot to get more Paint in a Five Gallon Pail.
Just Starting.
I had to sweep the remainder of the Patio again before continuing with any painting but it seemed that by the time I had painted a small square I had to sweep the next spot again that I was about to paint. It was a battle to keep the seeds off the Patio. I was just about out of Paint when Kathy returned.

After a short break we both started sweeping the remaining Patio so that I could finish getting the First Coat on. It was nearly 3:00 and too early to start applying the Second Coat so we cleaned up our tools and packed everything away.
Cleaning out a Paint Can so it's not wasted.
Those Trees were dropping Seeds like crazy.
Heading back up Walker Road we made a few stops. Having seen how others use Leaf Blowers to clean their Patios as well as their RV Roofs I decided to look for a Black & Decker Cordless Leaf Blower. We had purchased our Black & Decker Weed Trimmer/Mower with a 20 Volt Lithium Battery from Home Depot two years ago and it works great. I was hoping they would have a Leaf Blower that used the same Battery. They no longer sell the Black & Decker yard tools.

We went to Canadian Tire and couldn’t find what I wanted but they had a small plug in model so we got that. Thinking how much of a pain it is to pull a Power Cord around we drove over to Lowes. They had exactly the Black & Decker Cordless Leaf Blower with a 20 Volt Lithium Battery that I had been looking for. Keeping the Patio free of Seeds while I paint just got easier. I spent more time in Canadian Tire returning the small plug in model that I only got in case.
Talking with our old neighbour Ted for the first time this season.
Looking across our old site.
It was past 5:00 by the time I got back to the car where Kathy had found a coupon that we had got in the mail for Arby’s. It was fast, tasty, satisfying, no dishes to wash, it was at a reduced price and it gave us a chance to People Watch for a while as the seat helped straighten my back.

We’ll be back to the Park to finish the Patio in the morning without spending so much time sweeping. Thanks for following along, feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  1. Those seeds falling sure make a tough job a lot harder. I'm sure it will look nice when you are finished with it.
