Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario,
Canada.
By the time we posted our Blog last night it was already morning
by the time we shut the lights. Then we were both up long before 8:00 for no
apparent reason. With the bright sunshine filtering through the trees we
watched out the dining table window as a near steady stream of Golf Carts headed to the front of the Park
with hopes of finishing their games before the Humidex got too high.
After finishing breakfast, I
barely took the time to check the local forecast on The Weather Network before heading outside. Seeing that there was a
good chance of Severe Thunderstorms
later this afternoon and a Humidex
of 100 F (38 C) I wanted to get the hard things done early.
The first outside chore was
to water all our neighbour Ted’s plants and flowers as well as our own. As easy
as that was I drank nearly half my bottle of water. I wanted to make progress
on Something/Anything that was on our To-Do
List even if it was something minor so I chose to work on our Waste Barrel. Because of the way the
top of the barrel was molded I needed to remove one of the threaded openings. With
that removed it was then discovered that the fitting that I though would do the
job would in fact not work because it needed a flatter area to be mounted.
Going inside to cool off at
10:00 in the morning I found Kathy had been busy cleaning and rearranging the
drawers in our Bedroom Dresser where
she found my Name Tag we’ve been
missing since we moved into our new Home. The suggestion of going for a ride to
the McGregor
Home Hardware just to get out had
her ready to go in an instance. Because of all her allergies she is nearly a
prisoner to Air Conditioned
buildings at this time of year.
Arriving at the hardware
store Kathy had the chance to just browse everything they had on their shelves while
I was being more focused. Combining the ABS
plastic fittings that are designed specifically for RV Drains and fittings designed for a house is not always the
easiest thing to do but after almost looking at every fitting they had in stock
I found just the right one for the job.
As short as our absence
from Home
had been it felt good to be back. After our friends Larry and Nichol had moved
from their site behind us a Cyclone Toy
Hauler was parked there with a “For Sale”
sign on it. We returned just as the new owner of the trailer was loading their Garden Shed in the garage. Then they
disassembled the Metal Gazebo and
added that as well as the Patio Furniture
inside the Shed for transporting. By
noon the entire site was empty. We as well as another person have our names in
for that site. We’ll know soon if we will be moving.
Kathy made some wonderful Chicken Vegetable Wraps for lunch to go
with the left-over Cole Slaw and Potato Salad we got the other day.
I went back outside to slowly
continue working on the Waste Barrel.
Just as I was about to start Ted drove up next door. We sat at the picnic table
and talked for a while as he related more details of how the stroke had taken
Eileen’s life. After being married for so long it will take a long while for
him to totally recover.
I had to us the Jig Saw to open the hole up to a four
and a half inch opening in the top of the barrel. Again because of the way the
top of the barrel was molded additional filing was needed to make the fitting
work perfectly. I was also able to get it closer to the outside edge of the
barrel for better drainage.
After gluing the fitting
into the Waste Barrel I needed to go inside cool down in our Air Conditioned Home.
It was after 3:30 and I found Kathy recovering from a sugar imbalance. She felt
it coming on when she was on our small ladder rearranging our Cupboards.
We were on our way out the
door by 4:00 heading for the west-end of Windsor. Kathy didn’t want me grilling supper
in this heat and after her dizzy spell she thought it more practical to just
eat out. Twenty minutes later we were ordering our meal at Wendy’s on Huron Church Road. This allowed
us to have a balanced meal at a reasonable price.
By 4:30 we headed up Prince Road to the Indoor Sports Complex
we went to last Sunday. We were here to watch our grandson Matthew play
soccer. This was a specially scheduled Soccer Game amongst the team and their Fathers in celebration of Fathers Day. It was our first time in
this building and we were amazed that this was a full-sized playing field. The best
part was that it was Air Conditioned
but that didn’t stop the Players and
Fathers from working up a sweat. The
younger players managed to edge out their out-of-shape Fathers in the end but just barely.
As we were about to leave
Melissa asked me to look at her van because something didn’t sound right. When
we got to the parking lot she surprised me with a Fathers Day Card from their family. Thanks Kids. I do appreciate it.
Kathy and I would like to
wish all our Male readers a “Happy
Fathers Day”.
Thanks for following along and feel free
to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
It’s about time.
