Covered, Errands and A Visit.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Waking to the Alarm I just seemed to zip around before heading out the door this morning. You might have read many Canadian Blogs where they speak about Fish Flies or May Flies or June Bugs (Same Insect). When I went to go out the rear building door you could hardly see outside because of the number of Fish Flies on the door. Someone last night must have came home late and left the Door partly open because there were a Few Hundred inside the rear foyer. With the outside cement also covered you could hear the snapping noise of their bodies being crushed under your weight as you step on them. Finally driving down the road there were so many Fish Flies along the edge of the road it looked like Spring-Time Seed Pods along the curb.

What Fish Flies look like.

It was nice arriving at Planet Fitness by 5:30 this morning. Even though there were plenty of vehicles in the parking lot there were only a few people inside exercising. As I started doing my Cardio Routine it seemed there was a sudden rush of people coming in. It appeared that I might not be able to do the Free Weights until a Bench suddenly opened up. It seems that when you are using a pair of 40 Pound Dumbbells others give you space. Another wave of people came in moments before I was about to start my Cool-Down so it was necessary to return to the Machine I use for my Cardio Routine to finish off my workout.

At the Apartment Kathy was already at her Computer having finished her morning chores. There were a number of Job Ads for the Windsor area that I applied for. Shortly before noon I received a call from Toronto where the Head Office for one of those Companies is located. We spoke for nearly Ten Minutes before I was told they might be calling me for an “In Person Interview”. I won’t get excited until it actually happens.

For lunch we had Leftover Stir-Fry Veggie Wraps along with a slice of Mixed Berry Crumble for dessert. We were stuffed.

Around 3:00 we headed out the door with a Shopping List of things we needed to pick up. Since this was Thursday we headed to the nearby Shoppers Drug Mart to take advantage of the Twenty Percent Seniors Discount. We crossed everything off our list and saved some cash.

Traffic was getting hectic as we tried to make our way to the Expressway and just as we started moving along a Slow Moving Freight Train put a stop to that.

As we crossed the city we noted the repairs being made to the oldest section of the Expressway are nearly completed. Following 18 Highway through LaSalle it was close to 4:30 when we arrived in Amherstburg.

The first thing we did was to stop at Wendy’s for our supper. Eating inside the place was empty when we arrived but was filling up before we left.

Our next stop was Health First Pharmacy to pick up our Prescription Medications. We started dealing here when we first went Fulltime. It was closer to the Park we were staying in and they treated us better then the Larger Chain Pharmacy did. Unfortunately there was a new Pharmacist and Assistant on duty this evening so they kept looking for our Medications in the wrong spot.

From there we headed to our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa’s house. Since the Province has lifted all its Coronavirus Restrictions Melissa has been having to go in to the Office to do her job that she has been doing from home for over Two Years. We had lots of catching up to do that lead to a lot of Laughter. It was nearly 8:30 when we gave our hugs and headed for home.

Having noted a huge drop in gas prices we stopped at the Pioneer gas station and filled up at $1.756/Litre ($6.646/US Gallon). That was a savings of $.24/Litre ($91/US Gallon) since our last fill up.

The Weather Network showed our temperature felt like 95 F (35 C) this afternoon and it’s looking like we’ll be having a good weekend.

Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment unless it personally attacks someone for their opinion or is Spam.

Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

Krackers

Why did the stop light turn red?

You would too if you had to change in the middle of the street.

  1. Good to see the price of fuel dropping but it has a long way to go!

  2. Great that our fuel prices are dropping. They need to!!
Everyone calls bugs and flies by suddenness names it seems. Our June bugs are brown and have hard shells. Not like your picture. I remember them being much thicker in our childhood days. I hardly see them anymore. Good!

  4. When I lived in North Bay we had an awful time with those bugs we called Shad Flies. You just didn't want to go downtown early in the morning when the Shads were in season. We have big fat brown beetles up this way that we call June Bugs. They come around the lights, or lighted windows, at night. Both our former dog, a border collie, and our current Lab loved to eat them, Yuck!
Our gas is still a good ten cents a liter higher than yours! It's 1.93 at our corner.!!!!

  5. Yuck to those bugs. Fuel here in Kelowna remains at 214.9. MY car is almost on empty, I am going to wait and see if it goes down. Just a thought, have you considered hooking up your RV and going on a 2 -3 week vacation within Ontario? A change of pace for you both.
