Quick Start, Ups and Downs.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Everyday I set the Alarm for the same time and have gotten so used to it that sometimes I wake up before it goes off. Imagine my surprise this morning when I woke a Half Hour later then I was supposed to. The Battery in the Alarm had died and didn’t wake me. Toast were a quick breakfast and I was out the door only Ten Minutes later then normal.

Just when I thought that things were looking up on this morning’s Walk Around Inspection two more Valves were found dripping on the floor that were not dripping yesterday. Continuing my Walk Around every time I come to the feed end of the Washer I check the Spray Pattern in the First Stage. Imagine my surprise when there was no Spray. As soon as I pointed it out to the Line-Leader the Paint-Line came to a quick stop until there was enough Water for the Pump to put it through the Pipes.

After checking the rest of the Line I told Paul about the Two Valves. He simply said it wasn’t worth trying to fix the Brass Valves to just order New Ones. When I called Milan at Windsor Factory Supply not only did I order the Valves but we now know how long the Back-Order.

Back in the Compound I managed to clean up a Dozen Smaller Valves before Paul introduced me to Nathan from the Roofing Company that had worked here this summer. We continue to have Leaks in the rear section of the Plant and he was here to check it out. After pointing out where the Leaks were inside we headed up to the Roof. He checked everything. The work their Company had performed and what was left untouched. The only reason he feels the entire roof was not fixed at the time was for Financial Reasons and the present Leaks are happening in the untouched area.

Back in the Compound I barely had a chance to take my coat off when I had to put it back on. I had to go to the Rental Property to do a few quick repairs as well as measurements to be certain the Commercial Refrigerator will fit. It can only pass through the Front Door. The Metal Gate had been deliberately damaged and had to be brought back to the Plant for repairs.

I made the parts to repair the Gate before having lunch. When I spoke with Kathy she was staying home because it was too cold outside.

I had just painted the welded repair when Avry came to get me. The Leak in the Reverse Osmosis System that I planned to fix with new parts this week wasn’t waiting. Upstairs there was water everywhere and Kharen tried blaming the problem on me but it was Pipes that I never touched before. A few adjustments here and there did the trick at tiding us over for the week.

On the way home I noticed the Price of Gas was way down at one of the stations. After telling Kathy that when I got home we had supper so we could go fuel up before too late and the Price went back up. Since it was still early we had a Salad as well as a Store Bought Thin Crust Medium Pizza.

Kathy followed me in the Car to the Pioneer gas station parking on the opposite side of the Pump. By filling the Truck then filling the Car was a little costly but compared to what we have been paying we saved Twelve Cents per Litre.

We made it home before the 6 o’clock Local News started. They reported 51 New Coronavirus Cases bringing the Active Cases to 504 for the Windsor/Essex Region. Unfortunately our area also experience 4 more Deaths being blamed on the Delta Variant of the Coronavirus because none of them were Vaccinated.

The Weather Network showed we had a high temperature today of 23 F (-5 C) feeling like 10 F (-13.5 C). Tomorrow will be a bit warmer.

  1. Because all the systems in that plant are so old, I think you will be busy for quite some time to bring everything to a properly working standard. It was about time for the gasoline prices to drop but usually just before the holidays they go up again.

  2. So, properly maintained for 15 years, beginning in 1993, leaves some room for things to fall apart. Yup, as Marlene says,
it sounds like you can stay busy.
