It was nice that I didn’t even sit in the Truck for Two Minutes when Paul arrived from having breakfast out. By the time I loaded my Toolbox and Personal Belongings on my Utility Cart he already had the door open.
I barely had the Maintenance Compound open when Ivan joined me. We were hauling the Plasma Cutter and MIG Welder over to where the Station 7 and 8 Tanks were before 8:00. In very little time we had the old Balancing Tube removed and the Plasma set up. Using a Template the Four Inch Holes turn our perfect leaving little to clean up.
We barely finished that when the Cleaning Crew had problems with Pipes that had stripped Fittings. I tried a quick fix by cutting back the treads but it wouldn’t hold in the Manifold. Explaining what we needed to do Ivan cut, cleaned and put the new fitting on while I started welding the Flanges on the Tanks. Personally I would have preferred using a Stick Welder but had to use the MIG. It would take an Hour to weld each Flange.
I showed Ivan a little oops he did last week when we were cleaning the Motors upstairs. For someone who had never done anything like that before he is proving to be a fast learner.
When I spoke to Kathy at lunch time she said we were getting high Winds. The forecast had called for 90 KMH (55 MPH) gusts.
It took nearly Two Hours for the Flanges to cool in the meantime we replaced both the One and a Half Inch Valves that were leaking. I had to shut the Feed Line to the Washers on the Mezzanine in order for us to accomplish that but when I went to reactivate the system the Two Inch Valve nearly didn’t open.
Kharen stopped by for a short while taking me into the Drying Oven and showing me Sheet Metal Flashing that was warped and hooking the Carriers and Parts. He insisted it had to be cut off today. Needing Two Hundred Feet of Extension Cord it took nearly an Hour to accomplish that simple chore. We and our clothes came out looking different then before we started.
Back on the New Balancing Tube we sub-assembled it and everything fit like a glove. We made three attempts with positive results each time, Finally we glued it all together and the Nightmare began. As Paul said it’s an Old Washer and the Tank could be warped just enough to cause the Problem. It was nearly 6:30 when we called it a night but will have to return in the morning because it has to be running for Monday Morning.
It was nearly 7:00 when I walked in the Apartment and Kathy was already making supper. We had Personal Sized Shepard’s Pie with a slice of Fruit Cake and a Chocolate Pudding Cup for dessert.
