If It Could Go Wrong.

I truly miss the days that what day it was didn’t matter and that there was more time to relax with Kathy as well as enjoying more time with our family members. Life has a way of changing all that whether it’s Health, Family, or Pandemics.

Even though I could have slept slightly later this morning I just could not sleep past my normal wake up time. After having a lite breakfast and I was still sitting outside the Plant by the normal start time. What was different was that Paul the Owner opened the door Ten Minutes later. That gave me time make a few adjustments before starting my shift.

One of the things I want to point out about the modification we were about to undertake was by using Salvaged Materials to upgrade an Old Machine. This Parts Washer is more then Forty Years Old so most of the solid straight lines it had when it was originally built no longer exist. It also meant that the Old Manifolds that were installed back then were also filled with recirculated Slug that had to be cleaned out before reassembly could begin.
Having measured this repeatedly we were in a state of shock when the Link between the Two Existing Manifolds on the South side was a Quarter Inch too long. With lots of prying and wiggling it fit like it was meant to.

Having measured the length of Bolts needed while in the Compound was another shocker. When the flanges in the Washer turned out to be much thicker it caused the Reclaimed Bolts to barely hold by half the threads we wanted.

A pleasant shock was when Paul ordered Ivan and I back to the Compound where he had cooked us a breakfast of Bacon, Eggs and Toast. He wanted to be certain we had enough energy to do our jobs. I haven’t eaten that heavy in a long time.

Back inside the Washer we remeasured the distance between the Two Existing Manifolds on the North side then made an adjustment to the Link before installing it. It fit perfectly but due to the Short Bolts that can’t be replaced until Monday we got creative on making them work.

We stopped for lunch around 2:00 and we both talked to our Wives. Kathy spent the morning cleaning up around the Apartment then relaxing on the Balcony. She got the chance to witness first hand how people that should not work on their vehicles cause more problems then they started with.

Before we started we knew the modification had to be done today or all the Line Workers would not be working on Monday. By the time we made and installed all the Pipes on the Manifolds, welded the Brackets then installed all Two Hundred Nozzles it was 6:00 before we left for home.

Having a late supper calls for something quick so we had a Store Bought Thin Crust Medium Vegetarian Pizza.

The Weather Network showed our temperature felt like 79 F (26 C) this afternoon and with the Humidity from the Water Tanks we were above inside the Parts Washer it felt much warmer.

Krackers

You know you’re RV trash when your radio drowns out the sound of the generator.
