Arriving at the Plant shortly after 7:00 this morning for my 8:00 starting time I was sipping on my Coffee and listening to the radio when I suddenly noted the door was mysteriously in the open position. That meant I could start getting set up for what could turn out to be a busy day. I was even more surprised when I’d barely gotten my Coveralls on when Ivan walked into the Compound before 8:00. He normally doesn’t come in until 9:00 on Saturdays but knew the jobs we were facing.
The first thing we did was to set up the Plasma Cutter so that the holes could be cut for the installation of the Balancing Tube between the Section 7 and Section 8 Tanks. Like the Link on the inside of the Washer it was created using recovered materials that are sometimes warped and had to be glued together. Even though the measurements had repeatedly showed a perfect fit right before the final Fitting was glued in place the unit was suddenly too long. Rotating and even flipping the Pipe only made it longer. When adding the Glue in these Fittings they don’t always sit completely to the bottom of the sleeve. Removing another Three/Eights of an Inch was all it took to make it right.
We also managed to install Six additional down Pipes and their Nozzles on the Station 7/8 Manifolds to give it more cleaning power.
We stopped for an early lunch at 12:15 giving us both a chance to call home to be certain everything was good. The only problem we were having was due to the shorter days and cooler temperatures we were being swarmed by the Bees trying to help us eat.
We then mounted the Pipe Guard by drilling into the Concrete so there should be no more broken Fittings.
We were in the process of adding the Side Shields at the end of the Washer when suddenly Kharen the Supervisor appeared. He wasn’t around the entire morning nor was he dressed to be in the Plant. He then proceeds to tell us that anything we do has to be finished so production can resume on Monday. We both responded that we already knew that and all jobs are handled the same way. He soon disappeared. Just him trying to show he’s in control.
We both had plans for this evening so when 2:30 rolled around we started putting the Tools away. Without any delay it was 3:00 by the time we punched out then we talked for Five Minutes in the parking lot.
Kathy was surprised when I walked in the Apartment at 3:30. I quickly filled her in on the rest of my day while checking messages on the Computer. By 4:00 I was in the shower changing my appearance and scent. Even after giving my Coveralls their usual Saturday night washing the Pail in the Bathtub it was barely 4:35 when we were heading out the door.
Our destination was our daughter Karen’s house in Tecumseh. All the kids Ashley, Kylla and Tyler along with friends Jess and Eric were there to help celebrate the Canadian Thanksgiving. Even Sanford, Nova and Harry were enjoying the excitement. Sticking to a single small serving of everything there we both felt like we overate. Karen kept trying to encourage us to have more but we held fast for another reason. We each had a thin slice of Karen’s Homemade Carrot Cake. It was past 7:30 when we said our “Good-Byes” and headed for home.
While that was happening I had to clean the grime from the Bathtub. Using a different detergent helped make them look cleaner.
Looking forward to enjoying my day off tomorrow.

Krackers
Yesterday a clown opened the door for me.
I thought it was a nice jester.
With all those fixing jobs you are doing at work that plant should be in tip top shape in no time at all. Hope you get a raise soon!
