Having to go to work while it’s still dark out leaves one feeling they should still be home sleeping yet we put up with it throughout our careers. It was nice arriving at the Plant just as Paul opened the door this morning. I didn’t get the chance to talk to him until after the Paint-Line started. I let him know what I was lining up for this weekend as well as for today. His response was “Sounds Good” and a Thumbs Up.
I
was nearly completed my Morning
Walk Around
when Kharen the Supervisor
found me on the Mezzanine
and waved for me to follow him. Finally he stopped at Station
4
to point to the Leaking
Valve
that
I mentioned in yesterday’s Blog.
He tried telling me that the Gland
needed
to be tightened to stop that from happening but when I told him that
Ball
Valves
don’t have Glands
and that Paul ordered the New
Valve
already he just stood there looking stunned. I went back upstairs to
finish my Inspection.
Back at the Maintenance Compound I finished reworking the Piping that would go on the Air Dryer System. Then loading a box with the last of the Pieces, Pipe Dope, and Short Ropes I started the first of many trips up the Mezzanine. The next trip involved bringing Pipe Wrenches and a Ladder. Finally I brought the Folding Tri-Leg Pipe Vise. For the next Hour and a Half I assembled Ninety Percent of the System. Everything is attached to the Air Dryer itself but we have to wait until the Air System is shut off on the weekend to finish the hook up. That will involve about an Hour to accomplish what the transformation.
Seeing Kharen after I brought all the Tools back to the Compound I reminded him that I needed Angle Iron to make the Brackets because everything was presently being held up by Ropes. It seems everyone thinks all the projects I did throughout the Summer didn’t use any materials. I stunned him again when I told him the Dryer would be hooked up this weekend.
Finding things to keep myself busy is a great way to not have Kharen beefing at me. When I straighten Carriers he appears happy and for me it makes the time fly by.
On my lunch I spoke with Kathy who was cleaning out old Files to make room for newer ones. The Paper Shredder will be busy while that happens.
I was busy straightening Hooks on the Anvil when I noticed Paul watching from the doorway with a smile on his face. It is so much easier doing it that way and when I said so I got another Thumbs Up. When I told him about connecting the Dryer this weekend I got a pat on the shoulder. Kharen who had been watching practically ran away with a sour look on his face.
I reminded Paul about needing Angle Iron for Brackets. Most vendors don’t want to deliver a single piece so Paul got creative. He brought me to the rear of the Plant where an Old Platform is mounted. He had planned on having it removed and it was built using Angle Iron.
Traffic coming home seemed heavier then normal today. As soon as I filled Kathy in on my afternoon I headed for my shower. Like last night we were out the door by 4:30.
Our first stop was Wendy’s Drive-Thru where we ordered our Chicken Wraps, Small Chocolate Frosties and Seniors Soft Drinks for our supper. We sat in the parking lot enjoying our meal and the best part is they are Tasty, Satisfying and Healthier then most other take-out foods.
We arrived at Fantastic Sams with minutes to spare. Even though the Provincial Guidelines are allowing for more people to be allowed in different venues it did not change for Beauty Salons or Barber Shops. Only those getting their hair taken care of are allowed inside and they are still being restricted to that number as well as all the cleaning that goes on between customers.
We missed the 6 o’clock Local News again this evening but The Weather Network showed our high temperature today felt like 73 F (23 C) for the second day in a row but that will all change tomorrow.

My mother's A1C was 9.4 8-14-21, 10-1-21 her A1C was 5.7. Her new doctor expects she will be classified a non-diabetic by year end. She has reduced her carb intake to 20 grams or less daily and takes 1200 mg of Berberine. Yes, the doctor stopped the Metformin in August. Now days, Diabetes can be reversed!
