Looking Ahead.

After publishing last night’s Blog I suddenly realized that I hadn’t yet wash my Coveralls in the Pail in the Bathtub. It didn’t take long to get into that with a slight change. Rather then using the Pail I normally use because it seemed a bit on the tight side when I was agitating them I found a Recycle Bin that was well made and held nearly Two times the Water. That made it easier to stir things around and the extra Water might have helped to break down the grime better.

We were in bed by our normal weekday time last night which would explain why my CPAP Machine read I had been connected for over Nine Hours when I got out of bed this morning by 7:00. I felt well rested and had time to get things ready for breakfast as well as giving a rinse agitation to my Coveralls.

For breakfast we had Toast with Rhubarb Sauce. While Kathy took her Tea to the Computer I got things ready so that I could soak my feet in an Epson Salts Bath. I then took my Coveralls down to the Laundry Room and had the place to myself. While the Coveralls were getting a machine wash that would result in being dryer from the final spin I headed back to the Apartment. Because not all the Water makes it straight down the drain I needed to clean the residue out of the Bath Tub. The Epson Salts Bath just seemed to pull the stress out of not only my Feet but my Body as well.

When I went back to the Laundry Room for my Coveralls Kathy took the time to soak her Feet in the still steaming Water. Like mine she said it made her Feet tingle like she had just had a Foot Massage.

Though not perfectly clean the Coveralls were much cleaner then previous washes. As mentioned before with the larger Pail the extra Water might help to get the dirt out better and since they are not put in the Dryers there is still the chance it will come out someday.

We were soon headed out the door and were happy to see the Sun shinning brightly. We’ve been splurging lately eating out by going to Wendy’s Drive-Thru to order our lunch. We feel it’s a treat having the Chicken Wraps, Small Chocolate Frosties and Seniors Soft Drinks.

Even though we have our Shopping List in hand when we go through Dollarama we like to walk all the aisles just in case there is something new we could use. Today I found that they are now carrying Ear Plugs and Safety Glasses they never had before. Since I have to supply my own I thought I’d give them a try.

At Zehr’s grocery store it took longer then normal as we had a lot more items on our list that we have been using from our stockpile. We could last an extra week with no problem but Kathy watches the Best Before Dates so nothing goes bad.

We were back in the Apartment by 2:00 but it would take nearly an Hour to get everything put away. We even had the Balcony Door open until the temperature got chilly.

I started to get caught up reading Blogs we follow. Some other Canadian RVers are making me jealous that they will be going South this winter. It could be another year before we get back into that tradition.

When it came time to have supper neither of us were very hungry so we had Italian Wedding Soup along with a Chocolate Covered Donut for dessert.

The 6 o’clock Local News was again broadcasted from London and they didn’t even report anything about the Coronavirus.

The Weather Network showed that our high temperature today only felt like 54 F (12 C) because of a cool West Wind. Since this is Halloween we can only hope the Trick or Treaters have Safe and Dry evening for the occasion.

By Myself.

Even though it was an Hour past our normal bedtime last night I made up for it by getting to sleep in by an Hour this morning. Being Saturday meant starting for 8:00.

When I arrived Ivan along with other Forklift Drivers were already there so they could Car-Pool to the Ministry for their testing. It would involve watching the newest Informational Video, completing a Written Test then performing the Driving Test. I figured that was the last of the Drivers I would see for the day.

Even before 8:00 I’d gone to the Mezzanine and climbed the obstacle course to where the Water Valve that would shut the Water to the Washers was tucked away. Back to the Maintenance Compound I brought out the Two Boxes that had been prepared yesterday. The first I dropped where the Balancing Tube was located the second where the Valves were that needed to be replaced. Immediately the Cleaning Crew were complaining about no Water. It was hard to make them understand they needed to bleed the pressure for me by using what was there.

I returned to the Balancing Tube to clean and prep the Tube. I’ve repaired this for the last Two Weekends but it seems people don’t know what not filling the Tank means. The Glue requires Twenty-Four Hours with no Water or it will not take. I would make Three Glue Applications before leaving today to be certain it will take.

When it came time to cracking the Line where the Two Valves needed to be replaced I had to borrow one of the cleaners for all of a minute. Sometimes an extra set of hands is needed. Even with the Water Pressure gone the Line was still draining so I had to have the New Parts ready to go in the moment the Old Parts were removed to minimize the flood. That also meant I was getting quite wet. After turning the Water to the Washers back on along with the Balancing Tube it wasn’t even 10:00 when I started my next job.

I had replaced the Hinges on Two Tank Covers but now with no Line Workers around I could safely weld them to the Washer Tanks without giving anyone a Welding Flash. First I had to remove the old broken Hinges from the Tanks. That was completed by 11:00.

After double checking the Balancing Tube I gathered more Tools to go up to the Mezzanine. There were Two Exhaust Fans whose Belts were about to give out that needed replacing. The first went fairly well until I looked down at the Fan Cover on the end of the Electric Motor. It seemed that a lot of debris was filling the side vents that help the Motor stay cool. Removing the Fan Cover I was surprised to find it full. Since it was close to lunch I brought it to the Compound and removed over Half a Dustpan of Oily Debris that could easily have caught on fire.

I spoke with Kathy while having my lunch. She had just completed going through the Old Files and was thinking out loud of what we could have for supper. That made it hard for me to think about the job because I was already drooling.

Back on the Mezzanine there was more cleaning to do on the first Exhaust Fan before moving to the second. This Motor was mounted Pulleys down but the build up of Debris in the Fan Cover was just as bad. It was past 2:30 when I finally headed downstairs.

When I heard my name mentioned I turned to see Ivan. He knew what I had planned on doing but it was getting too late to start that. Instead we worked together filling the Water Tanks to a level that would not affect the Glue on the Balancing Tube. By the time I cleaned up my Tools and loaded them in the Truck it was 3:30 when I punched out.

Kathy was happy to see me home before 4:00. We talked before she set about getting supper ready. We had Spare Ribs with Asparagus and Rice for sides along with Carbonated Juice for our drink as well as a Yogurt Cup for dessert.

The 6 o’clock Local News was broadcasted from London and didn’t even report anything about the Coronavirus anywhere let alone for the Windsor/Essex Region.

The Weather Network showed that with the continued Wind and Rain our high temperature today only felt like 48 F (9 C). They also showed that we could be getting some Flurries along with Freezing Temperatures in the next week. Way too early for that.

Looking forward to spending my day off with the one that “I Love”.

Rats Den, Kharen Back To His Old Self and Getting The Deals.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

As forecasted it was Raining when I stepped foot outside this morning and is expected to continue into Saturday. Some areas would be thankful to receive that but the Local Farmers are worried about their Crops rotting in the fields. Even before this Rainfall we had already exceeded this month’s Average by more then a Few Inches making the Farmers worried about their equipment getting stuck due to the muddy conditions.

When I spoke to Paul this morning he was concerned that there was a new Leak in the roof. Having seen water coming down the stairs from the Lunchroom I started a focused grid search of the ceiling. Not seeing any Drips I noticed the water pooling toward the base of the Water Cooler. After getting my Tools when I opened the base up I was surprised at what I found. I ended up filling Three Large Dustpans with Nesting Materials and Bones. The Cooler had become a Rat’s Den. Workers said the Cooler had not worked in months and from the chewed up Wires I could understand why.

It took time to find the Water Shut-Off since it went through the cement floor. Getting a Ten Foot Step Ladder I shut the valve by the Ceiling next to the Maintenance Compound. The unit was bulkier then it was heavy when I carried it down the stairs and put it on the Workbench. When Kharen came in wondering what I was doing with the Cooler he turned pale and practically ran out when I told him what I found.

Wanting Paul to see the problem I continued getting parts ready for tomorrow. It will be different because Ivan as well as the rest of the Forklift Drivers have to be recertified tomorrow so most of my day I’ll be working with Me, Myself and I. Ivan hopes to get done early so we can get some Brackets taken down.

I stood by the door inside the Plant to talk with Kathy because the Rain had not let up. Having mopped the Lunchroom Floor dry we were surprised to see water again gathering when the Cooler was not there. Finally the Ceiling started dripping telling me that the Leak was located directly under the Roof Air-Conditioning Unit. At this time of year it will take Hot Tar to seal that up.

Kharen was back to his old self and came into the Compound screaming at me that I had to get the Piping on the Compressor and Air-Dryer Units finished. That was what I finished last week. He had to go check.

Paul came in to look at the Cooler. It will take time but is repairable. He also said that Kharen was losing it.

Kathy had been busy going through the old files most of the afternoon but had set up the Crock-Pot to cook part of our supper. We had Chicken with Barbecue Sauce as well as Macaroni and Cheese for our meal along with a Chocolate Pudding Cup for dessert.

We had the Dishes done before the 6 o’clock Local News reported 19 New Coronavirus Case bringing the Active Cases to 174 of which 11 were Unvaccinated for the Windsor/Essex Region.

The Weather Network showed that with the all day Wind and Rain our high temperature only felt like 52 F (11 C). This should continue through most of the day Saturday.

Even though it was still Raining we felt like going for a ride and since I’m still replacing my Stolen Tools we drove to Canadian Tire. It amazes me how you can save Sixty Percent on items. A good example was I purchased a Security Flashlight that holds Three C Batteries for $16.99 a few weeks back. After seeing how well it functioned at work I thought about putting One in the Car for Kathy. When I returned the next day the price was $49.99. They were “On-Sale” again today so we got Two more.

Pat On The Back From Paul and Ignored By Kharen.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

It felt good that there was no Rain this morning but the temperature still reflected the time of year. During my Morning Walk Around I was able to find more Pipe Fittings that I know will soon become part of another project. Since they are just laying around not being used I consider what I’m doing to be house cleaning. As soon I got back to the Maintenance Compound it was quickly disassembled cleaned then put with the other Fittings of that size.

When I work on salvaging anything whether it’s Metal, Fittings or Nozzles I make a point of checking the Paint-Line every Hour so that if there are Carriers needing repairs or adjustments they can be done either by the Line or back in the Compound. Today I quickly straightened one in the Compound but returned it to the Line bringing more Tools with me. I stayed by the Line for nearly an Hour straightening over Fifty Carriers without having to go looking for them. I also noticed Paul the Owner watching from the end of the Line.

When I headed back to the Compound he followed me. Before he could say anything I asked if he had ordered the second Valve for the Line. When he said no I waved him to follow me. When we arrived at Station Four I pointed to the Valve that will be replaced and the one he didn’t order. My statement was “I have to shut the water feed to do this Valve and this one leaks just as bad. Why do you want me to shut the water off twice?” He asked what size I needed.

I continued working on the Nozzles until lunch when I went outside to the Picnic Table. While I was eating and talking to Kathy on the phone a delivery van from Windsor Factory Supply drove up. It was a new driver and I had to point him in the direction of Shipping and Receiving.

When I finished talking to Kathy I returned to the Compound to find the Valve that was just ordered this morning sitting on the Workbench. After putting it in my Weekend Project Box I continued cleaning the Nozzles. Paul came in but before he could say anything I said “Thank You for the Valve”. I got a pat on the back for that before he left.

The sky was much darker then this picture.

I saw Kharen walk by as I started hauling my Tools to the Truck. He never spoke a word to me and he never asked if I found out where the Water was coming from like yesterday.

At the Apartment we worked together to make supper, We had Acorn Squash with Grilled Chicken Strips along with Lemon Meringue Pie for dessert and a glass of Cranberry Juice to drink.

The 6 o’clock Local News reported 17 New Coronavirus Case bringing the Active Cases to 173 of which 10 were Unvaccinated for the Windsor/Essex Region.

In response to a Comment about the Coronavirus Numbers. I simply write the Numbers shown on the television and pass them along to the readers through our Blog. We find them equally as confusing how they can change from one day to the next.

The Weather Network showed our high temperature today felt like 59 F (15 C). I don’t know who put that report together because everywhere we looked people were wearing Winter Coats. I was wearing a Lined Jacket and I wished I’d had a Sweater underneath. The Rain we didn’t have today will return tonight until Saturday Evening. Just what the local Farmers don’t need.
