Construction Delays, No WiFi and The Procedure.

Our Location today is Newmarket, Ontario.

You might have noticed the Thursday Blog didn’t happen. Having found our accommodations from a list given by the Hospital, we were surprised that their WiFi would only support the use of Cell Phones. That meant it would not take the use of our Laptops. (To me “What’s the difference”?)

So here is a delayed version while I wait for the Procedure to be finished.

We knew that we didn’t need to rush this morning, so we caught up on some of our sleep. Even being connected to our CPAP Machines for nearly Eight Hours did not mean we slept that long.

Kathy spent most of the night worrying about her upcoming Ablation, while I simply endured the Pain in my Hip/Leg every time I moved the least little bit.

When we got up, the Plan was to leave no Dirty Dishes in the Apartment while we were away. Other than taking our morning pills and vitamins we just packed up our CPAP Machines and Computers. We loaded our Two Wheel Shopping Cart to bring everything to the Car. Kathy was surprised when I reminded her she was following me, so the Truck could be dropped off for service while we are gone.

It took Twenty Minutes to reach Windsor Gas and Diesel. Even at that early hour it was a mad house with people bringing their vehicles in.

Our next stop was McDonald’s for a quick breakfast. It worked well but when we left we would have to use the Manning Road ramp to Highway 401. To get there we had a Twenty Minute Detour because County Road 42 was closed for a massive Sewer Replacement. When we finally got on Manning Road we were stuck in a Traffic Line Up due to another Construction Project. It was past 11:00 before we finally were east bound on the Highway.

We stopped for lunch at Pizza Hut, where we each ordered separate Personal Pizzas. Right next door was a Sporting Goods Store, so we checked to see if they had the Support Pants recommended by my Chiropractor. The ones they had, would not provide the support I need.

After topping off the Car with Gasoline, we were back on the road before 2:00. Even through the Construction Zones we seemed to fly through them unimpeded. When it came time to move to Highway 407, there were Two Lanes of Bumper to Bumper Semis that I could not get through. That meant an extra Hour travelling through Rush Hour Traffic through Toronto, before heading up Highway 400.

With the lack of proper signage, we finally arrived in Newmarket after 5:30 and with luck we found the Hospital where Kathy’s procedure will take place. The big problem was we could not find our Motel. We were tired and hungry so we stopped at a Pita Pit for a healthier version of Fast Food. We had not been able to find the street that the Motel was located, so when we finished eating I asked the young servers. The street we were on, would change Names within a few Miles and we would be at our destination. There was no Map on their site.

We were able to park directly outside of our room, which made hauling our belongings in easier. I did have to return to the Office to borrow a short Extension Cord to run our CPAP Machines.

Now we are hoping there are no Problems for Kathy tomorrow.

Friday morning we were at the Hospital, with extra time. Kathy had only taken her morning Medication, the same with myself. After getting checked in, when Cynthia came to review Kathy’s Medication, the List I had put in her packet was no longer there, along with the list of her Surgical Procedures. (Since being informed of this Procedure, Kathy has continued to Stress-Out and getting Confused.) While she was being prepped I went back to the Motel and returned with the Pills in their original containers. Cynthia told me to go back to the Motel and they would call when Kathy is released for the night.

Backed up traffic.

Since I can’t get On-Line there, I’m working from a Wendy’s location while enjoying a Grilled Caesar Salad and Lemonade for Brunch. I’m also going to a Medical Supply Store to look for a Leg Brace. Hopefully Kathy will only be sore but be better then she started the day when I pick her up.

You might have to wait for an Up-Date until tomorrow.

  3. Oh. Medical things in a new place and having to stay a while....all not easy. I too hope things go very well (as I've said, all the people I've known have had some good results from ablation) and that you will both be home safe and sound after this trip is over!!
