Everyone who has ever gone through a Medical Procedure, will remember having a few restless nights afterwards. Kathy had that problem last night and thinking it was better to leave the room than to wake me, got herself turned around a couple of times. What she didn’t know was that as soon as she got up, I would lay there listening in case she were in distress.
Since we wanted to get an early start towards Windsor, I set the Alarm for 8:00. Just like I often do during the week, I woke minutes before it would have gone off. I shut it off and simply opened the Curtains in the Kitchen to brighten up our room. Minutes later a startled Kathy nearly jumped out of bed, while I was getting dressed.
It was 8:45 with the Car all loaded that we stopped at the Office to return the borrowed Extension Cord and Sign Out.
We stopped at Tim Horton’s where we had Breakfast Wraps and Coffees that we finished as we headed for home.
Just up the road we topped off the Car with Gasoline, so we could actually see how many MPG the Car was actually getting.
We headed back down Highway 400 until it merged to Highway 401 before making our first En-Route stop. These are like Service Centers with different amenities such as Food and Fuel. All we needed was to stretch our legs, which was what the Doctors and Nurses at the Hospital had recommended. Also recommended was that Kathy travel in the Reclined Position, to take pressure off the Incision. She didn’t like it because it made her feel like she could fall asleep.
Having
survived on Fast Food since Thursday, but not wanting
to lose too much time, our next stop was the restaurant at the
Flying-J just east of London.
We were able to have a bowl of Chicken Noodle Soup with a
Grilled Cheese Sandwich for lunch topped off with a
Strawberry/Banana Smoothie to help cool us down.Traffic back-up due to a pile-up.
We
did another walk around at West Lorne
before continuing to the Tilbury En-Route.
There we both needed to just close our eyes for a few minutes. It’s
been a few years since we put on any serious miles and not having
Static Straps on the Car makes a
difference.
After the Construction Delays on Manning Road on Thursday, we drove to the Walker Road exit where we also topped the Car with Gasoline for the second time today. This is only an estimate, because it was a Half Tank of Gasoline, with roughly 300 Highway Miles we got around 35 MPG.
After a quick bite out we were home around 4:30, but it took until nearly 6:00 to have everything unpacked and put away.
While Kathy has to follow Doctors Orders, to take it easy, to improve her recovery, I’ll be back at work tomorrow, with a few other things to do after.
