Talk About Strange.

Getting at the Plant at my usual time I was surprised that Mile’s car was not out front. By the time I gathered my Coveralls, Lunchbag and Coffee, Vinnie the Engineer arrived to open the door.

As a young man Mile had immigrated to Canada from Serbia just as Jovo the Lead Machinist. Today was the Serbian Christmas and both men took the day off to be with Family.

Even without anyone of authority there to tell us what jobs we needed to work on it just seemed everyone instinctively knew what had to be done. Other then a few quick touch ups for the Buffers, there were a couple of Feedscrews that needed Cracked Flights repaired. The only Hard Surfacing Material that does that is the Colmoly 83. Even for a simple touch up those require a lot of Preheating as well as Post-Heating then Wrapping to avoid rapid temperature change.

I even had the chance to speak with Kathy at lunchtime just as she was getting ready to leave the Trailer. She had sorted the Box we had placed there yesterday and gotten the Dishes put in the Cupboards.

The next big surprise was ending my shift at the same time as the rest of the crew. Since that does not happen too often I took some ribbing to “Get back to Work” or “Where do you think you’re going?” All in good fun.

Kathy was happy to see me home before 4:00 which has not happened often since I started this job. We got to catch up a little more in detail about our day before I set about making a Veggie Stir-Fry then serving it in Wraps. They are filling enough that we don’t snack and they are healthy. Kathy served Tuxedo Cake for dessert.
