It’s Not Work But It Was Busy.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

It felt wonderful sleeping in this morning. (Don’t forget anything more than Five Hours is sleeping in to me.) I think part of the feeling also had a lot to do with my CPAP Machine not keeping me awake most of the night.

Breakfast was enjoying the last of the stale Cinnamon Rolls with Coffee. We did spend our morning at the Computers but we also made a Plan to go to the Storage Units and Trailer this afternoon before picking up a few groceries. We all know what happens to Plans.

When noon rolled around neither of us were sure what we wanted to eat so I hatched a scheme. (I didn’t Plan.) Kathy was curious but game when I finally told her where we were going. For years we have driven by the Route 42 Diner always too busy to stop and opting for the speed of Fast-Food by Chain Outlets. This is a locally owned and operated treasure just waiting for people to stop in.

The Waitress insisted she clean our Table before we sat down.

As we arrived at the Door there was a note taped to the Window explaining they were “Short Staffed today and there could be delays in service”. The place was still packed with most busy eating at 1:00. There was a delay as people waited for One of the Two Waitresses to cash them out.

The motif was the 50’s and 60’s throughout. We had plenty of time to look over the Two Page Menu, but it seemed that as soon as we decided what we wanted the Waitress was there to take our order. The Coffee was fresh and hot as the food not being tasty but delicious. Kathy had a Reuben Sandwich with Coleslaw while I had a Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich with Fries no Gravy. I won’t mention the Ice Cream Sundaes we had for dessert. (Shhh!) It was such a relaxing atmosphere it was nearly 2:30 when we left. Another place we’ll be going back to. They open at 6:00 and close at 3:00 daily.

Since we were nearby, we went to Princess Auto where the Plan was to get more O’Keefe’s Working Hands Soap so I could keep one in my locker at work. I’ve had my hands feel like Sandpaper and after using it for only a day they felt like I wasn’t working. We also found a few other things that found their way into our shopping cart, some of which I’ll try before making a comment on.

We drove across the street to Canadian Tire to get some Trash Bags for our Kitchen Container. They are the only place that carries the right sized Bags at reasonable prices.

From there we headed towards home but noticed the Diesel prices under $2.00/Litre. I’ll be filling the Truck tomorrow.

We finally made it to Dollarama where we were surprised to see aisles still filled with Christmas Decorations. There was nothing marked down but I also noticed all new Staff. Even though we managed to get all the Food Stocks on our Shopping List other things they had stocked before the Holidays were not yet back on the shelves.

Since we were across the street from Walmart, we went to check what they had. Surprisingly they did not have either item in stock, so we walked out empty-handed.

There was only one thing to do and that was to go to Home Hardware. These privately owned Canadian outlets used to be and sometimes still are, where you get what the Big Box Stores don’t have. They did not disappoint.

It was nearly 4:30 so we stopped at Wendy’s for Chicken Wraps for supper.

Back at our building we needed to use our Folding Two Wheel Shopping Cart to haul everything up to the apartment.

Since we didn’t get to our Storage Units or the Trailer today, we’ll only try to get there tomorrow. (No more Planning.)

  2. Having all those big stores close by for your shopping needs is a bonus to living in the city. I looks like you are making good use of your time off working by relaxing and spending time with Kathy.
