Ukraine Attacked, Job Ads For Me and Ivan.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

I could get used to sleeping until I wake on my own. It does wonders for your outlook along with your overall health. We both lay in bed until the Clock showed 8:00 before we lazily started our day.

The sky was totally Cloud covered but the breeze was only moderate compared to what we’ve been getting. Wanting to clean up a few things before we’d shop for groceries we both had different Cereals today.

A bit cool this morning.

When we moved to the Computers I planned on doing everything I normally do but Kathy wanted more. Having been following everything that’s been happening in Ukraine she turned on the Television to CNN. We were saddened to see that Russia had openly invaded their country. According to the Commentators this is the first Armed Conflict in Europe since the end of the Second World War. CBC, ABC, NBC and others were all carrying similar information. All this because Putin wants to return Russia to the size it was during the height of the Cold War.

There are a number of Blogs that we follow who presently have family members serving in the US and Canadian Armed Forces. Even though at this moment those Governments are saying they will not fight inside the Ukraine but will support the NATO Alliances there is still a chance they could become involved in the conflict. We also will pray for the people of Ukraine to come out ahead in this insurgency.

There were a few more Job Ads that attracted my attention enough that I applied for them. Another was for my former job and even though I had seen it listed last weekend it was showing that it had just been listed today.

With errands to run this afternoon we used Leftovers to have for lunch. By using them that meant they were not going to Waste and it would create space for the fresh groceries we planned on picking up. The Leftover Apples became Baked Apples for dessert while the Leftover Spare Ribs were cleaned off, heated and applied to the Leftover Bread that was toasted. We also had Chicken Noodle Soup to top it off and warm us up.

After checking the Freezer, Fridge and Pantry we still had a small Shopping List to use when we headed out the door.

Our first stop was Dollarama where we purchased a number of things from our List and a few that weren’t.

At Zehr’s grocery store we were lucky in the sense that shelves that we have seen empty or thin the last couple of times we have been there had just been restocked in preparation for the upcoming weekend. Prices on everything have gone up and could climb even higher if this conflict continues.

We went to Wendy’s Drive-Thru where we ordered Chicken Wraps, Small Frosties and Seniors Soft Drinks for supper. We sat in the lot watching traffic go by while we ate our meal.

Back at the building it was easy to bring all our purchases upstairs in one load because we had brought our Folding Shopping Cart. We managed to get everything put away before sitting down to watch the News.

On the 6 o’clock Local News they reported on the Russian Military attacking Ukraine and reaction of the local Ukraine population. They also reported 23 Active Coronavirus Cases for the Windsor/Essex Region along with 2 more Coronavirus Deaths.

The Weather Network showed we had a high temperature of 25F (-4 C) and could expect to wake to 2 Inches of fresh Snow in the morning. However when I later looked at the Radar I could only chuckle to myself. Essex County is the southwestern part of Ontario that is a Peninsula surrounded by the Great Lakes. The storm forecasted to bring us all this Snow like many others appears to be splitting and going around us as it approaches. That normally leaves us with less then a dusting. We’ll see how that works out in the morning.

I tried calling Ivan this evening with no luck. Heck I even had a Job AD for a Forklift Driver to give to him. I’ll try again on the weekend.

Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment unless it personally attacks someone for their opinion or is Spam.

Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. Wonder if that job posting showed as new because someone got hired for the last one and quit the next day. Wouldn't be surprised.
Glad you are relaxing and enjoying!
Seems like nobody is remembering the Russian tanks going into Hungary...I was 10 at that time and remember it. I guess Hungary wasn't really independent at that time. Sigh.
