Kharen’s Sick and Paul’s In Trouble.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Knowing that the weather would be perfect for doing an outside job today I was actually looking forward to it until I walked in the door to the Plant. Looking ahead towards the Maintenance Compound the Gate was wide open, the Lights were all on and there were Power Tools lying on the floor where anyone could take them.

Not touching anything I went to talk with Paul as this resembled something I did not like. Checking his Office he was not there but as I turned Paul was coming out of the kitchen. I simply asked “What Happen?” With a smile on his face Paul said “I got one.

Paul and Flora had gone to the Hospital on Sunday evening to visit (are ready for this) Kharen. After leaving the Plant on Saturday Kharen felt severely ill and was rushed to the Hospital. After a barrage of tests within Twenty-Four Hours he was told that he had Pancreatitis. Not sure of how long he will be off work he called Paul.

Returning to the Plant (Paul’s home) around 6:30 talking of what Kharen’s absence would do they noted on the Security Video what appeared to be Tools outside of the Maintenance Compound and the Lights were on. Checking in person they confirmed that they had interrupted a Break-In in progress.

Flora left for home around 9:00 using Paul’s pickup while Paul watched the Security Video Monitor. Fifteen Minutes later he spotted movement in the back of the Plant. Then the rear door opened and someone with a Bicycle with an attached Trailer came riding up to the Maintenance Compound.

Do any of you remember when I mentioned that Paul had a Gun in his Office. Seeing more lights flickering at the rear of the Plant while someone else was already in the Compound Paul loaded the Gun and headed into the Plant.

Confronting the young man in the Compound when he said get on the ground and don’t move there was no argument when he saw the Shotgun pointed in his direction. It was at that point Paul called the Police but felt uneasy standing there looking over his shoulders for the second intruder. The flickering lights at the rear of the Plant disappeared just before the Police arrived.

Both the Suspect and Paul were taken to Police Headquarters. After Six Hours (4:00 in the morning) Paul was released with a notice to appear in court. He is being charged with pointing a loaded Gun at a person. That is in Paul’s own words.

Instead of sealing the Windows I had planned the day was spent adding Bars to the windows where this person shimmied through as well as repairing the Window covering. There were a few other repairs such as Carriers but the Window sealing did not take place. With the dropping wet temperatures on their way that will have to wait until Spring.

For supper we share a Tourtiere along with a Caesars Salad and a Bottle of Carbonated Juice. We also enjoyed a Pecan Tart and Yogurt Cup for dessert.

The 6 o’clock Local News reported 11 New Coronavirus Cases of which none were Vaccinated bringing the Active Cases to 186 in the Windsor/Essex Region. They again stressed our numbers are climbing.

The Weather Network showed our high temperature today felt like 64 F (18 C) but that is about to change with the possibility of White Stuff coming our way this week.

Krackers

A mom texts her daughter: “What do IDK, LY & TTYL mean?

She texts back: “I don’t know, love you & talk to you later.”

The mom texts her: “Don’t worry about it, I’ll ask your brother. Love you too.”

  1. Your coworker has my sympathy. I've suffered pancreatitis before too. He may be in hospital for a few days.
WOW, that was some confrontation. I'm sure Paul will get off with a good talking to and maybe a fine. I wonder if those asshats are the same crew that broke in before?

  2. Kharen is probably paranoid about not being as essential as he thinks he is at work. At least it will be a welcome respite for his coworkers.

While I feel our US gun laws are sometimes too lax especially in Texas...I do not think I would like to be taken to the police station or fined for pointing a gun at a thief that broke into my home, office, or property.

  3. You may be working at the most exciting place in Canada. (Sorry, that was a joke from Texas. It does sound awful, all of it!!)

  4. Just taking a minute to say hello. I have been following but quiet. Saw that you would not be traveling again this year. We miss you both. Take care.
