Lots Of Good Things and Some Unexpected Visits.

When I woke up this morning there was only a slight ache in my Back which was a good thing because I could actually move without Pain. When I opened the Window Shades down stairs and didn’t see the Sun but just a Cloud filled sky that was also blowing our neighbour Ken’s Flags I thought that was a good thing because the Wind Generator was charging our Batteries. After getting things ready for breakfast and turning on The Weather Network on the Computer the Forecast for our area today was a good thing because we were finally getting the Warmer Weather that we came here for in the first place.
Soon Kathy joined me downstairs and as we sat talking about what our plans were for the day streams of Sunlight started breaking through the clouds which was another good thing as the Solar Panels would now help to charge our Batteries.

With our morning reading and inside chores complete we got an early start on doing things we had planned. Kathy wanted to make a Pie and I wanted to rewire the Meters today.

Yesterday I was in so much discomfort that I packed the Tools that were still needed in a Toolbox that was then put in the middle of the Basement. Using the Tailgate as a Workbench I had the Tools that were needed in mere Minutes. Then after only moving a couple of Storage Bins on the other side of the Basement I was able to comfortably sit and rewire the Shunt in less then Five Minutes without adding Pain to my Back or Knee. That was a good thing.
Going inside the Trailer Kathy was almost finished making a Lemon Cream Pie and was also making lunch at the same time. Telling me not to go back out until after lunch I surprised her by showing her more numbers were showing on the Meter but nothing impressive considering there was only a slight breeze. Popping the Battery Capacity Meter out of the wall as I checked the plug in the rear the Meter lit right up. Another good thing that Kathy was happy to see.
For lunch Kathy had made us each a Tomato Sandwich along with the last of the Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup and a Mixed Berry covered Yogurt for a dessert. It wasn’t overfilling but helped to re-energize us for the afternoon. Another good thing.
Back outside the Wires were once again re-examined and I just couldn’t figure out why more numbers were not showing from the Wind Generator. Looking at Ken’s Flags I had my answer, the Wind had stopped. Just then Ken a former Electrician came over to see how things had turned out so I explained that the Meter wasn’t working the way I wanted. We even went inside where he explained what was happening with the readings that were there but said he would do some research and get back to me.

Not wanting to waste the beautiful weather I planned to reorganize the Basement. That was when Ron drove up on his ATV. He started by inquiring about the Wind Generator but then started telling me about his home back in Wisconsin. He is here by himself and by the way he talked he lives by himself, is very Racist and does not like Women. I was tied up listening to him for over Two Hours. Not a good thing because I didn’t get the Basement reorganized.

I had been standing that entire time so when he left I sat inside and had a drink of Water to cool down. After listening to my description of this man Kathy said he was probably lonely and just needed someone to talk to.

Going back outside the best I could hope for was to get everything in the Basement for the night. I managed to get half of it put away when Ron reappeared to show me pictures of his house and all his toys. This time I used a Chair to sit in and a short time later Kathy called me in for supper. Another good thing.
Kathy made a Chopped Salad and Chicken Egg Rolls for supper topped off with piece of the Lemon Cream Pie.

Having heard that Ron the other Electrician was leaving to head back to the upper part Washington state I walked over to say good bye and advise him he was heading for a Severe Storm. He appreciated both but was more interested in how our Meters were working. When I explained the problem he said he’d bring his Big Professional Meter over to check.
When he arrived and pulled out his Suitcase Sized Meter I knew he was serious. He checked my Wiring and was impressed how neat and thought out it was. He was surprised that with the Sun hiding behind a bank of Clouds that the Solar Panels were still sending energy to the Batteries. I showed Ron the Meters inside just like I did to Ken. In the end he could only suggest bypassing the Blocking Diode to see if that makes a difference.

We also talked about Ron on the ATV who has visited their Campsite a number of times. Now if they see him riding around the entire family hides hoping he doesn’t see them outside. Soon I was wishing him Safe Travels and Thanking him for his advice.
Tomorrow we are expecting Winds between 22 to 34 MPH so it will be interesting to see what happens on the Meters before and after I bypass the Diode. Think it might also be a day for getting out which is a good thing. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. Poor Ron ... I imagine he comes around because he's lonely, and I can certainly see why he's single! It's so cool you got the wind generator charging your batteries. Talk about being self sufficient!!! Lemon pie? I LOVE lemon pie!!

  2. I agree thinking Ron is lonely, but it's not nice that now you almost have to be afraid to be outside. Hopefully he'll start heading home soon. Kathy is such a good cook!

  3. I think after having to listen to someone I do not know for over two hours while on my feet...I would have to have something stronger to drink other than water!

When I lived in Houston my next door neighbor was an older widower who would get into my mail box and then come over with the excuse that my mail was delivered to him.

I knew he was lonely and wanted to talk but I had just gotten home from work, was tired and hungry. I finally had to rent a P.O. Box and remove my curve side mailbox.

  4. How is that swollen knee doing? Keep an eye out on it. Maybe use ice at night when you are sitting.
