Not wanting to lay awake most of the night and then oversleeping in the morning I did the most logical thing possible. I went to bed late and didn’t set the Alarm. If I had I would have spent most of the night tossing and turning.
Purple and Yellow Flowers along the road to Parker.
Waking totally rested at 7:05 I was surprised that by the time I had raised the Window Shades downstairs the Sun was already over the Mountain Range to the east shining brightly. Looking outside at Ken’s Flags they seemed to be just hanging around probably having been overworked from all the Wind that had been battering the area since the beginning of the Year. At least the Solar Panels were doing their job charging our Batteries.
Blue Skies, Green Grass and Desert Flowers.
I managed to get things ready for breakfast and had just turned on my Computer when it went dim needing to be plugged in. What choice did I have but to turn on the Main Inverter. I had just enough time to sit back in my Chair when it initialized sending power throughout the Trailer. Since it is wired directly to the Breaker Box in the Trailer everything gets power including the Microwave which then emits a very audible Beeping sound that can be heard throughout the entire Trailer. Before I had a chance to open any E-Mails Kathy came nearly running down the stairs thinking that she had Overslept. It wasn’t even 8:00 in the morning yet.
After finishing our breakfast we both had plenty of time to have our morning Coffee/Tea at the Computers, do our morning chores and be ready to head out the door before 10:00.
Flying next to the Highway.
We headed over to the Trash Area and were surprised to find only Four of the smaller Trash Bins remaining along with the massive Roll-Off Bin that was already overflowing. There are plans to have a pit dug so that everyone can put their trash into the Roll-Off Bin without much effort but why they are taking away the smaller Trash Bins at this time is not being very well thought out.
Traveling Lite from Maine.
Once on Arizona 95 it was clear sailing right through Quartzsite not even having to stop for any Traffic Lights. Traffic was flowing and we were making good time until we reached Mile Marker 123 when everyone started coasting to a stop. We had passed a few Signs indicating Road Work Ahead but didn’t expect this. What was happening was the Contractors were filling the Cracks in the Pavement with Hot Liquid Tar so that had One Lane blocked off with Pylons for nearly Two Miles. With that stretch of the road only being Two Lanes Wide traffic in each direction alternately sat for Ten Minutes allowing Oncoming Traffic to go by.
We arrived in Parker at the 12th Street Barber Shop and Coni’s Corner exactly in time for Kathy’s 11:00 appointment to get her Hair cut. The Shop is in a converted garage in a residential area on 12th Street at the corner of Navajo Avenue. There was another customer ahead of me already getting his Hair cut but Kathy was immediately taken. We found this oasis after getting Terrible Haircuts from someone in Blythe. Coni is a certified Hairdresser and has been doing this most of her life. She only takes people by Appointment from Tuesday through to Saturday. Her son Allen is a Certified Barber who takes walk in customers only. They both spent some time straightening the mess our hair was in last year. We know that it’s hard getting good Hair Cuts when you are away so we highly recommend this Mother and Son Team. Tell them we sent you.
We had plans for the afternoon so we stopped at Taco Bell for lunch. There was no problem with the quality of their food but they were already running Short Handed when the Shift Manager was called away on a Family Emergency leaving only Three Employees to do everything. It was nearly a Twenty Minute wait to get your orders.
Since we aren’t watching any Over The Air TV this year our primary source of News is on the Computers or hearsay we hear repeated. We have only watched a Couple of Movies on DVD so another form of entertainment is by going to the Blue Water Movie Theater. We enjoy movies that are non fictitious in other words they actually took place. Today we saw “Fighting With My Family” with Wayne Johnson (The Rock) making cameo appearances as himself. They always say Real-Life is stranger than Fiction but this one will have you sitting on the edge of your seat and cheering. We both gave it Two Thumbs Up.
Distant Rain making the desert greener.
Our next stop was Walmart where we managed to get everything on our Shopping List but a single Storage Basket that Kathy wanted. After repacking the Cold Foods in our Cold Storage Shopping Bags we then headed over to Jack In The Box for supper. There are many of the other Fast Food Outlets in Quartzsite so we try the others and personally I enjoyed this better then the Golden Arches tonight.
Kathy was busy taking pictures on our return Home of some things that she had missed because she was just caught up in the beauty of the Desert Flowers that were blooming along the road. She also managed to capture Rain over the mountains running along the Colorado River as well as the setting Sun as we got closer to Quartzsite.
We spent nearly an Hour getting everything put away in out Pantry. I’ve mentioned how I repack things to save space in our Home. One Refreshment we enjoy is only available at Walmart in the Southern US so before going back to Canada we stock up. We had Six Boxes in our Pantry that already had double the amount of Packages that they came with when purchased. We purchased an additional Ten Packages today. When I was finished repackaging all these boxes there were only Seven Boxes in the Pantry and Nine Empty Boxes in the Recycle Bin. Do you think the Manufactures Over Package?
There's no place like Home
Looks like the Temperatures are going to cool down here again soon with more wet weather so we have some things to take care of tomorrow. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  1. And they always put things in packages three times the size of the thing you want. Thats why the bins are full!! Costco is one of the worst with Amazon second! Sounds like it was a nice day though ... love watching movies!

  2. A few weeks ago we stopped at a McDonalds near the AL/GA border. It was breakfast time. By the time we finally got our meal it was lunch time. More than 30 minute wait. And this is fast food? My rant.

Now.... glad it was a movie and not a real family spat!

  4. When you mention the long wait at Taco Bell saw in the news that they were short handed at some Taco Bell up north and customers began to complain and the workers started beating up on a customer.

I also got tricked by the title of your blog :)
