Getting Cleaned Up, Cold Start To Spring and Unexpected Visit.

Our Location today is at the La Posa South, LTVA, Quartzsite, Arizona.

When I started my day at 7:30 this morning it was cool downstairs but not cold. Considering that we’ve had the chance to sleep with our Windows and Roof Vents open for a few days now. Looking outside I could not even see where the Sun might be trying to peer through the thick Cloud Cover. I’d barely turned my Computer on to check The Weather Network when Kathy came downstairs. She’s really not a morning person and has been amazed at how early she has been getting up lately.
Looking out you can see our Window on the Trailer open.
Looking at the Truck I forgot to close its Windows last night.
Good thing it didn't Rain.
After breakfast I could only read the number of Blogs on the Computer that it took for me to drink my Coffee then it was time to get busy. Today was Laundry Day but not just anyone this was the one where we changed the Bedding before heading off. If there is one thing I don’t like doing is coming Home in the heat of the day to make the Bed so that meant doing it this morning. By the time I’d done that and sorted the rest of the Laundry then loaded the Truck it was past 11:00 before we headed out the door.
The Wind was supposed to be moderate today with the temperature rising to a high of 73 F (23 C) but like the rest of this winter there was a chill to the breeze. It was nearly 11:30 when we stopped at the Flying J to have lunch at the Wendy’s a mile from the State Line. Kathy loves their Salads and has missed them since we’ve been out west. We had a leisurely lunch before heading into Blythe.
Our destination was the Madd Jax Laundromat on Hobson Way. We had no problem getting Four Washers side by side. I’d just finished getting everything transferred to the Dryers when I spotted our neighbours Wayne and Sue across the road. They had also done their Laundry at a different location and were getting some supplies in the plaza across from us. When we were leaving at 3:00 the place was getting busy.
Seeing that Blue Sky had us cheering
for a little while at least.
Our next stop was Smart and Final where Kathy picked up some Fruits and Vegetables for our Fridge along with some Meat for our Freezer. After getting Cereal and scanning the other aisles when we approached the Cashiers we were in for a shock. There were only Two Cashiers open and about Forty People waiting to cash out. After being paged the manager who had been unloading a Delivery Truck opened another Checkout. He said they didn’t have any labour in today.
Depending which way you looked the clouds were different.
Since it was after 4:00 we stopped at Del-Taco for supper. The Wind was starting to pick up and the temperature was dropping.
Taken Minutes apart.
We were arriving Home by 5:00 to find our neighbour Ken busy disassembling the walls of his Tent. Since we had inquired about it the other day he invited me to come back to check it out. After getting everything inside the Trailer and helping Kathy put the groceries away I headed over to Ken’s.
We finally saw the Sun for a Half Hour.
His Tent was a complete Kit that he had purchased but he had to make some changes. He also showed me how he had to totally change the Anchoring in order for it to withstand the Winds that the Quartzsite area receives.
We were just getting settled in at the Computers when we had a knock on our door. It was Fulltimers Ned and Debby wanting information about our Wind Turbine. They were especially impressed with how quiet it was compared to a Horizontal Axis Wind Generator not too far from their location. Even Kathy talked about how great the Wind and Solar was working together helping us to be “Off the Grid” and the different things that she can still do even out here in the Sonoran Desert. We invited them back on Friday evening when the Winds should be much lower for a Campfire and to meet our neighbours.
The Wind is no longer shaking our Trailer but the Temperature has dropped enough for us to close our Windows and Roof Vents. For the start of Spring I think we might be keeping the Bedcover on tonight. Tomorrow I need to get back to Work. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. Nice to get things done, laundry being a big one in our books. It is unfortunate that the wind forces the air temp down a few degrees and makes for uncomfortable sitting at times.
We have been lucky, with the heat following us so far.
Enjoy your remaining days there, travel safe.

  2. I just love it when all you have to do the entire day is the laundry and chat with friends. Such a great lifestyle. Unfortunately, I could never dry camp that long with a bird that requires heat. Maybe some day ......

  3. Well you certainly got some things done! That's something about Smart and Final! Nice of you to invite Ned and Debby back for a fire..

  4. People back home living in sticks and bricks don't realize that even doing laundry while traveling is a big deal and time consuming. But then there are less chores in a RV and more freedom to just do nothing.

  6. That was one thing I wasn't crazy about when I used to spend the summers in Lakeside, was having to go to the laundromat.

  7. Even though the wind brought a chill/cold air the show it helped put on with the sun, clouds, and shadows in the mountains was worth it. Great pictures of the changes that kept happening.
