Saying So Long To Our Friends, Quick Trip To Parker and An Early Campfire.

Our Location today is at the La Posa South, LTVA, Quartzsite, Arizona.

Last Night we were just too tired to have another Late Campfire with our friends. We managed to get to bed earlier which must have put us on High Alert this morning because when we heard Wayne moving his Truck this morning we both jumped out of bed and started getting dressed. We have developed a friendship with both Wayne and Sue over the last couple of years that we wanted to be certain to wish them Safe Travels before they left. Finally we looked at the time to see that it was only 7:20 in the morning. Knowing that the Truck was not hooked up and that we could hear it through our open Windows we had our breakfast without our morning Coffee/Tea.
Our Friends Wayne and Sue getting ready to leave.
We wandered over shortly after 8:00 and had a chance to chat with them while they continued packing the last of their equipment. Even the puppies stood at the door and gave a few short barks until we acknowledged them. Wayne spotted a piece of Trim Seal that needed to be reset so used our Ladder to fix it. Since they had a morning appointment in Lake Havasu we cut our Farewells short.

After quickly checking the Computers we were soon heading out the door ourselves with our Shopping List in hand. With a final wave in their direction we left them to finish getting ready to leave knowing that we would not be seeing them until at least this fall. We will be able to communicate with E-Mails as well as Messenger to help us through this separation.
Our first stop was Herb’s Hardware where I picked up a shorter piece of Pipe for our Wind Generator. Knowing exactly where it was located in the store I was out in less than Two Minutes.
Wildflowers along the Roadside.
Our next stop was Walmart in Parker. The drive was not quite the same old same old because the sides of Arizona 95 were full of Wildflowers growing along the shoulders. We arrived around 10:30 and started by looking around the Electronics Section to find a Prepay Card for my TracFone then over to Housewares to find a Larger Storage Bin for the Wind Generator Feathers. With the limited choice of Too Small or Too Large it looks like we’ll be storing everything in the One Bin. After picking up a few toiletries I went to the Check Out while Kathy continued Grocery Shopping
This gave me the chance to actually put the Feathers in the Storage Bin. If they had not fit it would have been a quick and easy return. Back inside Kathy was just finishing up in the Produce Section when I found her so the rest of our shopping went quickly and we were walking out for the final time this season at 11:20.
We headed across the road to Taco Bell for a quick lunch. Unlike the last time we were there when they were running short handed we had barely sat down with our Drinks when our order was ready. It was tasty without being overly filling and we were heading back towards Quartzsite shortly after 12:00.
The Sun trying to break through the Clouds.
When we arrived Home in La Posa South it was a little depressing to see only our RV sitting where it had spent the last Three Months with the closest RVs being on the other side of the Wash. Everywhere you look there are empty areas and Two were on either side of us.
After we put the Perishable groceries away I repackaged the Apple Cider Drink that we enjoy to have. It is only available at Walmart in the US so we stock up to bring it back to McGregor with us. I downsized Seven Packages (that was all they had) into Three saving us lots of space in our Cupboard. I then called TracFone and got my Cell Phone back up and running.
It was again Hot inside the Trailer so Kathy chose to go outside to sit in the Shade and read. The problem was that with the heavy Cloud Cover everything was in the shade. Fortunately there was a southerly breeze that made it so she could sit on our Mat.
We bought a couple of nice Camping Chairs a couple years ago that have a great Back Support. Unfortunately by using them on this type of Stone Surface they have both sheared the Front Pin making it impossible for them to fold. Wanting to bring them Home to properly repair them so this afternoon I inserted a small sized Screwdriver in the hole and managed to get the One folded but not the other. I’ll try again tomorrow because if it doesn’t fold it will be trashed.
Around 4:30 Kathy started getting things ready for supper. She made a nice Garden Salad along with Breaded Chicken Strips that she topped off with Strawberry Shortcake Cups for dessert.
As soon as we finished cleaning up the Dishes we headed outside for an early Campfire. It was just after 5:00 with a breeze blowing from the west. Suddenly we started seeing Shadows and when that happens it can only mean that the Sun had broken through the Clouds.
We burned off more than half the Firewood we had but called it a night by 7:30. Tomorrow we’ll get more things done in preparation to leave on Saturday. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  1. I know how sad ones feels when you have to say good-bye to friends though at least you only have to wait six months.

Did you bring your firewood from Canada or did you purchase yours in the USA? If you purchased it in the States will Canadian officials let you cross it into the country upon your return?

  2. Those chairs look too nice to throw away.
Maybe a small bolt and nut will work or a cotter pin if you have any of those.

  3. Nice fire. Yes, it's always sad to pack up and leave. I'm in the same boat. See you on down the road.

  4. You know how time flies, you'll be seeing Wayne and Sue in no time again! A busy day once again but you sure got things done!

  5. It was nice meeting both you and Kathy at Bloggerfest. Since buying our piece of heaven here in Quartzsite, we have been fairly tied to it and have not wandered much this season. Maybe in the Fall, we can get you both over for a campfire. We will be slowly heading to Wyoming around May 1st for our summer gig. Have safe travels as you head home.
