As soon as I stuck my foot out from under the Blankets this morning what had to be done was already clear. Just this past week we had been sleeping with the Windows and Roof Vents open but not last night. As soon as the Window Shades were all opened I needed to turn on our Blue Flame Heater. When the Sun sets here in the desert because of the lack of humidity the slightest breeze becomes very noticeable. The actual temperature this morning was 43 F (6 C) but with the breeze it felt like 37 F (3 C) according to The Weather Network.
This is an evening sky complete with a heavy Cloud Bank.
The few people that we did see outside walking were well bundled up bringing back memories of winters when I was growing up. Even with the Heat on low when Kathy came downstairs she suggest that it be turned up. By the time we finished eating breakfast there was little warmth being transferred through our Windows as normally happens.
When the Wind Sock is blowing like that
the Wind Generator is really turning.
It turned into a Two Cup morning as we spent more time at our Computers getting caught up on the reading that we missed during yesterday’s trip to Blythe. We noted that some of our fellow Ontarians are already part way back across the lower 48 which is very surprising because there are large storms all around them. According to the National Weather Channel “This has been a winter like no other on record and far from the norm”.
Kathy tried a new recipe today and created a Honey Chicken Stir Fry for lunch and a Bosc Pear for dessert. Not wanting for us to be stuffed after it was all cooked she split it in half and we were more then comfortable.
After lunch I spoke with Wayne for a short while. Since they probably won’t be home next Friday he had asked that we watch for the Awning Repair Company that were supposed to fix his Awning under warranty. They had a cancellation this morning and were in the neighbourhood so they already took care of the problem.
The last few nights we’ve been hearing someone outside just before midnight Screaming Incoherently and minutes later the sound of a Wall or Floor taking quite a beating. Both Wayne and Sue have been hearing it as well. Sounds like either someone having a Bad Nightmare or they are having a bad reaction to something they are drinking.
It was close to 1:00 before I started getting things ready for today’s chore. Most of the Tools needed were in the Toolbox buried in the center of the Basement. When we visited Borrego Springs before Christmas we got in a tight spot with the Trailer attached. While getting ourselves out of that mess we managed to rip One of our Mudflaps off and bent the Stainless Steel Bracket in the process as well.
It took some doing but I was finally able to get the Bracket off but had to figure a way to straighten it. Without a Vise to use I had to find something Solid that would not move while I manually bent it back into shape. Our MORryde Pinbox on the Trailer worked perfectly and within Five Minutes I was starting the reassembly process.
Kathy was getting Cabin Fever and since I was busy she decided to go for a short walk on her own. I was just putting those Tools away so I could start modifying the new Mudflaps to fit when Ken came over. He was inquiring if we had heard anyone Screaming and a Pounding Sound last night. We talked a bit before he left me to my chore.
Kathy shortened her walk saying that her Back was sore so while I started cutting the Mudflaps themselves she sat outside for a bit reading. Around 5:00 the Wind picked up again and chilled the both of us. Being dirty from being under the Truck I couldn’t put my Jacket on so just closed up for the day.
Kathy warmed the Leftover Chicken Stir Fry that she made earlier for our supper and Yogurt Cup with Two Cookies for dessert. It all tasted as good as the first time.
A Hot Shower not only got rid of any dirt on me but woke me right up. Checking The Weather Network it will be a few days before we get any more warm weather. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

Ask a silly question

If flying is so safe, why do they call the airport a terminal?

  1. Good grief ... here you are in the middle of nowhere and you still hear screaming and banging. Sounds like too much fire water to me.

  3. That screaming would be awful, sure makes you wonder what's going on? The lunch and dinner look really tasty! Beautiful sunset!

  4. As usual your meals look very tasty.

I certainly hope that the person screaming is not a victim of spousal abuse.

  5. I agree about this being the craziest winter. Sure happy to have gotten the camping trip in when I did. It has turned really cold and windy again. Oh well at least it isn't in the triple digits yet.
