Touch Ups, Phones Fixed and Gone To School.

Again I was at work early so I had more time to read the Downloads about the Plasma Transfer Arc Welding System. I actually got to a part that Alec had already explained to me last week. When the buzzer sounded I headed over to the PTA and did the few select things that I was asked to do. This would save Alec starting time when he came in because the Machine would already be warmed up.

It was only a few minutes later that I was brought over to do touch up welding on Four Different Feedscrews. At least these were not major repair like the job on Friday and Monday. These required a bit of finesse as the Feedscrews were nearing their completion and when they go out the door they have a finish that you can use as a high grade mirror. Using the smallest Filler Rod and a well sharpened Tungsten I was laying beads smaller than a Pencil Lead. Mile was so impressed he had me show a few of the Machinist.

Kathy had to run some errands this morning and the first was back at the Bell outlet at the Tecumseh Mall. She got there so early she had to wait until they opened. She took both our New Cell Phones with her and explained to the Middle Aged Specialist the problems we’ve had with having the wrong Contacts added to our phones then their not being able to copy my List to her phone. It took nearly an Hour but when she walked out her Contact List was the way it should have been all along.

Since she was at the Mall she was able to run a quick errand to Dollarama as well as Shoppers Drug Mart.

When she left there she stopped at our former Insurance Brokers Office only to find it empty. We were never notified of his moving and there was no notice posted at the door.

When I finished repairing the last of the Feedscrews I told Gabriel that if they needed me I would be in school. He laughed but gave me a Thumbs Up.

Alec was working on a 7 Inch Diameter, Twenty Foot Long, Double Fluted Feedscrew. All this is way above most peoples understanding and even myself I am only beginning to learn about it. I have Welded, Fabricated and Fitted many things throughout my career but this is taking it to an entirely different level. I think it’s the challenge that has me intrigued.

Since Alec was nearly finished for the day we discussed what I had set up as well as some of the issues we are trying to resolve that the Machinists are having when finishing these parts. We had to wait to use the Overhead Crane to put the Feedscrew on the Sandbox. That will help it slow cool so there are no Cracks. Tomorrow it might be completed. I was told that some of these Feedscrews take up to Eight Weeks from start to finish. I can only imagine the costs.

It was after 4:30 when I punched out. So the first thing when I got home besides talking to Kathy was a quick wash up. Then I added extra Shredded Mozzarella Cheese on a Store Bought Medium Thin Crust Chicken and Spinach Pizza for our supper. I tried cooking it One Minute less and it turned out perfect.

The Weather Network showed our Humidex felt like 88 F (31 C).

I spent the evening doing our Pill/Vitamin Doucettes. Somehow a few of the Vitamins Bottles were not properly marked so I’ll have to finish on the weekend after we visit the Drug Store.

  1. Sounds like you each had a very successful day! That's always nice. (Well. the disappearing insurance agent was a hitch in the proceedings.)
