Bad Start To A Day Off and Testing Positive.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

I rolled over several times this morning after the Clock indicated it was time to get up on a working day. It just seemed a lot of the Aches and Pains were disappearing the longer I lay there. When I finally thought it was time to start my day I’d barely taken care of business when I heard Kathy moving around. It was only Four Minutes before she realized my absence.

While she started her morning chores I stuck my hands into the Fridge to find it as warm as the kitchen itself. The building we live in was recently sold and the Tenants were just notified the day it happened. Finding the notice we were given I changed the Contact Numbers on my phone before calling. It was only 8:45 when I spoke to Lorrie and by 9:10 Mike was at our door with another Fridge. Unfortunately that Fridge would not fit into the cupboard opening so he said he’d be back. By 9:30 he was back with the proper sized fridge even though the Hinges have to be switched it is working perfect. Getting the Fridge working was an emergency but the Hinges will wait for the Regular Maintenance person during the week.

I was past 11:00 by the time we finally sat at our Computers to see what was happening in the world. It was by going On-Line that I could not see the Pay Cheque I deposited on Friday. Guess I’ll be stopping after work on Monday. By 1:00 we were enjoying Italian Wedding Soup for lunch along with some Cantaloupe and a Rice Crispy Square for dessert.

Having just gone through what we had in the Fridge and Freezer we knew we were well stocked. Surprisingly we lost very little food-wise which means it had probably stopped only an Hour or Two before it was discovered.

By 2:30 we were out the door enjoying the moderate temperature of 30 F (-1 C). Our first destination was Dollarama where we stocked up on a few necessities. I also picked up a pair of Pliers to bring to work to protect my higher priced ones when I’m welding. I was surprised to find them better made then some of the higher priced ones and well insulated for working around Electricity.

After parking near the grocery store Kathy wanted to go through the Dollar Tree. It’s been well over a year since we were there and since we didn’t have many groceries to get we had time. We found a few things like Mints and Shoe Laces that followed us home. With all stores struggling with the Coronavirus Restrictions it was noted that their prices have increased as well. In the US the prices at Dollar Tree went from a Dollar to a Dollar and a Quarter. In Canada the prices at Dollar Tree went from a Dollar and a Quarter to a Dollar and a Half.

Outside the Zehr’s grocery store the parking lot was full but inside it was not hard to Social Distance with other customers. Prices have also gone up so people are watching for the Sales. As we were walking the aisles we met our granddaughter Ashley. Since returning from her teaching job in Spain she has been working from home doing Customer Service so her Social Bubble is very small keeping her safe.

It was nearly 5:00 when we went to Wendy’s Drive-Thru for our usual meal choice. Figuring that we’d be starving after putting our purchases away in the Apartment it was better to feed our appetites before going home.

Wondering if my Deep Sockets had arrived yet we topped at Canadian Tire. Kathy stayed in the Car while I went in to the Service Desk. They confirmed that the Sockets had not arrived at their location but there were Six Sets at their Walker Road location.

The 6 o’clock Local News again reported New Coronavirus Cases for the Province of Ontario but not for Windsor/Essex Region.

The Weather Network shows that we’ll see high temperature of 30 F (-1 C) for the next few days but continue to forecast a big Snow Storm hitting Southern Ontario but not our area.. The Ottawa Region could see as much as a Foot and a Half of the White Stuff by morning.

Even though we already knew it was confirmed this evening that both our granddaughter Kylla and daughter Karen tested positive for the Coronavirus. Because Kylla is working at the Local Hospital she probably brought it home to her mother who has been working from home. They had both been fully Vaccinated and have since recovered fully but are doubling their efforts of staying safe.

Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. Whew. That was fast work on the refrigerator replacement! I am impressed. Glad you and Kathy are both well...this new version of the virus has infected peeople I know too. But so far, so good with the latest round.

  2. Good to hear that the new owners of your apartment are on top of the maintenance.

I was afraid when I read the title of your post that it was either you or Kathy that had tested positive. Glad that was not the case and that both your daughter and granddaughter have fully recovered.
