Getting More Supplies, Accomplishing More At Home and Getting Some Exercise In.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

We must be slowly catching up on our sleep because we were both up well before 8:00 this morning. Even though the golfers out on the Golf Course were all wearing jackets and long pants we were quite comfortable inside our Home without turning the heat on. We managed to get all our reading at the Computers completed thanks in part to that second cup of Coffee we had.

Since Kathy needed additional Wrapping Supplies we were on our way out the door wearing long pants and shoes by 10:30 heading for Amherstburg. Our first stop was at Dollarama where we picked up additional Gift Bags to be used. It’s the gifts that mean everything when given to a recipient that counts and most times the wrapping simply finds its way to the Trash or Recycle. By saving on the cost of Wrapping more can be put into the value of the Gift itself.

Even though we managed to get a number of supplies there we didn’t get everything so our next stop was at Dollar Tree where we were told they only carry those things right before Christmas for wrapping Gifts. You should have seen the look on her face when we said we were wrapping our Christmas Gifts

Like it or not we were forced to go to the Walmart store where we managed to get the rest of the supplies even though we didn’t save as much the Christmas Gifts will be covered. We also had to do some Birthday Shopping for not One but Two Grandsons within days of each other. Kathy also realized that we needed some Groceries while we were there so we took the extra time to get what we could even without the Shopping List that was sitting on the counter back Home.

When we arrived at the Checkout since there were other people ahead of us and our shopping cart was quite full an Associate asked if she could Pre-Scan our purchases to speed things up. We agreed even though we weren’t sure what to expect. She didn’t take the order the way I laid them out to go on the belt. She was mixing Merchandise with Produce with Canned Goods with Dairy and back and forth. I had to have four Reusable Bags going at once in order to separate everything she mixed. The only thing that had to be scanned at the till itself were the Vegetables that had to be weighed. If we have a similar load in our cart the next time we are asked we’ll say “No Thanks” it’s not worth it.

It was past 1:00 by the time we had everything in the car so Kathy suggested Little Caesar’s pizza for lunch. She also suggested trying some thing different so I ordered a Meat Lovers Pizza and in Ten Minutes we were on our way to our last stop.

Home Hardware Building Center in Amherstburg has a good supply of Stainless Steel Bolts that I prefer using because they don’t Rust. Last fall when I built our Bicycle Carrier one of the Bolts jammed so I just left it until we got back to McGregor this past spring. Using a standard Ratchet and Box Wrench I managed to snap that jammed bolt. When the manager helped me today and I said that I snapped it he reacted the same as Paul did this spring. Having worked in Industry where loose bolts were a hazard you learned how to Install and Remove them by hand.

We were back Home by 1:30 and the only thing we brought in was the Pizza. We were so hungry by that point that Medium Pizza didn’t stand a chance and we ate the Whole Thing. Once our heads stopped spinning I started bringing in the rest of our purchases. While Kathy put away the groceries I opened all the windows and vents to cool the trailer down. With the 72 F (22 C) temperature we both needed to change into cooler clothes.

Needing the kitchen counter as a wrapping table Kathy did the Dishes while I gathered the Trash and Recycle. With the Recycle that Kathy had given me the other day still in the back of the truck it was quite full so it was easier to drive over to the Park Trash and Recycle Area to empty the load from the truck.

Kathy managed to wrap more then half of the remaining Christmas Gifts wrapped from 2:30 until it was time for the 6 o’clock Local News. I finished installing the Lenses on the Marker/Turn Lamps on the sides of the trailer. The gaskets the Manufacturer supplied with the Lamps let more Water in then they kept out. I used a fine bead of Silicon Sealer to make certain they’ll keep dry. I’d also noticed something the other day on the roof when I was inspecting the joints. Still using the Silicon Sealer those open joints were quickly sealed.

Since we had a late lunch Kathy made a Greek Pasta Salad that we ate for supper while watching the News. We even ate it seated in our easy chairs which is totally rare for us. Because we have been busy and not really feeling too energetic we haven’t been exercising too much. Once the News was over we rode our Tandem Bicycle on every street of the Park. It was already cool enough that Kathy needed to wear her jacket to keep her shoulders from freezing and as soon as we got Home all the Windows and Vents were closed for the night.
The Christmas Gifts that Kathy has already Wrapped.
She's not done yet.
Tomorrow we have Appointments and Errands to do. Hopefully we’ll still have time to get more things accomplished on our To-Do List. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  3. Sounds like you have been enjoying the same kind of wonderful weather we have. We are headed down to see our son and his family for a couple of weeks and it looks like it is going to continue. Love the warm days and cool nights.
