Taking The Lead and Changing Numbers.

Our Location today is at Windsor, Ontario.

After the early start to my day yesterday I decided to take things into my own hands. The first was to check out the next Pump Station inside the Washer to give myself a better idea of how things would have to be set up. Next I was back on the ladder giving a couple more shots of grease to the Drive Motor. The bearing is so bad that the grease is dripping out onto the Drive Frame so I cleaned that up so it would not drip down unto the Parts passing on the Line below.

As I was putting the ladder in a safe location I noticed Paul the Owner watching from a distance. As I passed by I showed him the Wasted Grease I had removed and why. There was a small pile of Carriers waiting at the Compound when I returned but I ignored them. Instead I grabbed the Grease Gun and headed back to the Paint-Line.

Besides my morning Walk Around inspecting Corner Rollers it was time to give the Pumps and Motors their monthly lubrication. There was One Motor it took Five Minutes to clean Paint that had dripped on the Fittings and had basically sealed them in. By 8:00 I was soaking wet and still needed to head back to the Compound.

It seems strange that every time I return the repaired Carriers to the Paint-Line lately I’ve been seeing Paul watching in the distance. I took another look at the Drive Motor before heading back to the big project. So far I’ve salvaged Eight Saddles (not the type you ride) and some moderate lengths of the 3 Inch Piping that will be used to make the Manifolds.

I was having my 10:00 break when Paul came in saying the morning Lubes on the Drive Motor are looking like it will last until Saturday when we can rebuild it. I showed him a Sketch I made of the Guild Cables on the Stack that I worked on yesterday and what we’ll need to better secure it. Since it survived last night’s storm he figures it will last until after the Washer Project is completed.

More Carriers arrived to be straightened. That particular style was made before my being hired and in my opinion was made too light for what it carries.

Due to the forecasted high temperatures and from wearing herself out at the Storage Unit Kathy went to Walmart where she got some walking in for exercise. She also picked a few things up before heading back to the Apartment.

Since the Reciprocating Saw Switch shorted out last Saturday I’ve been using a Hand Saw that is meant to cut Wood on the PVC Piping. Parts of the Old Manifolds are cracked so by cutting them there is no mistaking what is good. I was cutting one when Paul glanced in but kept on going without stopping. Must figure I know what I’m doing.

It was hard to take my Coveralls off at the end of the shift because they were so wet. By laying them over the Welding Machine I can only hope they are dry by morning.

It felt good to sit in the Air Conditioned Apartment just to catch my breathe. One of the things that Kathy picked up at Walmart was a Cooked Chicken from their Deli Counter. We each had a Thigh and Leg along with a Half Acorn Squash for supper. Another thing that Kathy picked up was a German Chocolate Cake and we each had a slice of it for dessert.

The 6 o’clock Local News reported 13 New Coronavirus Cases bringing the Active Cases to 408 for the Windsor/Essex Region.

The Weather Network showed that our Humidex today only felt like 106 F (41 C) even though for the last Two Days they have been forecasted to feel much warmer. Not looking forward to Saturday if the forecast is correct.

We’ll be busy tomorrow evening. Might be a late post.

Krackers

Did you hear that the Dali Lama won’t let the dentist give him Novocan when they fix his cavities? He wants to transcend dental medication.

  1. Good for Kathy. I, also, use Walmart for my walking when the weather is bad.
