Colder Then Forecasted, Organizing The Basement, More Research and Having Fun At The Campfire.

Our Location today is at McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

When we looked at The Weather Network before going to bed last night the forecast was for the upper 40’s so we simply left the Bedcover on the bed for the night. Throughout the night I kept waking because I was shivering so badly but I just chocked it up to my Raynaud’s Disease. But when we got up and our Indoor Thermometer was showing 41 F (5 C) we turned on our Blue Flame Heater. Slowly bit by bit the temperature inside as well as out started increasing and we were able to shut it off around 10:00.

After completing some of our indoor chores, I started warming up some soup for our lunch which surprised Kathy who was again lost doing more research our upcoming trip. We were still cold enough that we had our Third Hot Beverage along with the Hot Soup to warm ourselves. A far cry from the sizzling temperatures we had gotten through most of the summer.

Kathy went back to the Computer while I went outside. When we got the Trailer back from the Factory in May we were in such a hurry to empty the Storage Room that things were not put in the basement quite the way they should have. Then I also did a few things that the Tools were not put back exactly where they belonged. Today I only managed to get about Half of that repacked and straightened up.

While I was trying to close things up for the day our neighbour Mike came over to ask some questions. He and his wife Pat purchased a barely used Mobile Suite Fifth Wheel and had it delivered to their Site. This was their first ever RV but he doesn’t retire until next year at which time they want to start touring Canada with it. They have somewhere to stay this winter but once he’s retired they’ll be heading for warmer climates in the future. Most of his questions today were about Towing.

By 6:00 Kathy called me to start grilling a couple of Steaks while she made Baked Potatoes along with Green Beans and Tomatoes for sides topped off with sliced Peaches for dessert. It was all tasty and satisfying.

While eating Kathy informed me that a couple of the Overnight Stops I had chosen at random were actually considered to be Ghost Towns abandoned after the closure of old Route 66. The names of the Towns are still on modern maps and that was how I came up with their names. So we sat working at finding other stops where we’ll have at least a Truckstop, Walmart, Grocery Stores or nearby Restaurants. After finding alternate stops she’ll be able to find things for us to do while we are there.

Hearing a bunch of laughter coming from Lorrie and Kevin’s trailer I wanted to find something out from Kevin. They had Ray and his wife over for a Campfire and immediately invited us as well. With Kathy bundled up against the cold we had fun sharing stories of our experiences and even learned a few things from Ray. Time was flying by and it wasn’t until Kathy looked at her watch did we know that it was nearly 11:00.

This is definitely a compressed version of our day. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. So nice of you to spread your RV knowledge to others. Not everyone is so helpful. Campfire? Maybe when it gets cooler than 80 degrees here!!

  2. No wonder you were shivering in the am, that's a really cool morning! Dinner looks so delicious! We have warm afternoons still, but here in the desert it cools most nights where it's nice to have a campfire!
