Appointments, Chores, Unexpected Weather and Mister Johnson.

Our Location today is at McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

Waking just before 8:00 this morning I knew that I had to make every minute count. Even though I had the Window Shades open and everything ready for breakfast I could only spend a few minutes on the Computer. By 8:30 we had finished eating and I was finishing my morning chores including relocating my Computer to make room in the Living Area.

This was a morning of appointments and errands so in order to get them all accomplished Kathy would stay Home so as to not miss her’s.

By 9:30 I was on my way towards Windsor in the Truck with my first stop being the ATM for some Cash after only minor delays from the Construction on Tecumseh Road West. Around a few more corners and I was soon heading back up Totten Avenue to my family Doctor’s Office. It was only by accident that Kathy and I had found he had moved from his old location when in passing by one day saw the building was empty. Thankfully there was a note in the door giving the new location.

The Cash I had just picked up was used to pay my Yearly Fee which means I won’t have to pay for him to write a Prescription, Scheduling Tests or appointments with other Specialists. If you add the cost of any of those up it would cost more then the Yearly Fee alone. Most Doctors in Ontario are doing the same and some charge much more.

George has been my Doctor for over Thirty Years and if he can’t treat your problem he’ll have you seeing a Specialist that can. I had my Yearly Physical and other then the upcoming Blood Test passed with flying colours. We even talked about our going away for the winter and heading to the southwest. When I told him about our Solar Panels and being “Off the Grid” he started thinking about ways he could do that to his Home. He is also recommending some tests in the spring when I come back that become necessary as we age.

I was soon on my way to the Wholesale Store where people in the Restaurant Business and Corner Stores get most of their supplies at reasonable costs. They also allow people like ourselves to shop there and only add on the HST (Taxes). We stock up on Halls Cough Drops to take south with us because these are much more effective then what is sold in the US and they cost less here than the cost at Dollarama.

My next stop was to collect the Mail at Guardian Storage before going over to VitalAire to order our CPAP Supplies for both Kathy and I. They will have those ready when we go there next Tuesday afternoon.

After a quick call to Kathy I was soon on my way Home. I had almost parked the Truck in our driveway when I recalled Mary was coming so I had to leave that spot open for her to park. Driving the Truck around to the Overflow Parking Area within Two Minutes I had walked back Home.

When I walked in the door Kathy was in the process of cooking a couple of Grilled Cheese Sandwiches. Since we’d had a very lite breakfast these were very filling as well as being tasty.

Mary arrived just before 1:00 and immediately set about taking care of Kathy’s feet. Because Kathy has Diabetes these At-Home Treatments are covered by our Health Care Provider.

Soon after Mary left we drove to the Park Exchange Library so Kathy could exchange all the books that she has read so she’ll have fresh reading material when we go south. With the Humidex already at 97 F (36 C) Kathy would not have been able to breathe while walking out there. Since there is such a turnover of Books there it took very little time for Kathy to exchange her Books.

Back at Home I finally had the chance to look at my Computer. The Weather Network was showing clear sailing for today so I started reading other things. Since I had left it open, the tab for The Weather Network suddenly started flashing Red. Before I could check what was happening it started pouring outside for a Half Hour.

Good thing it stopped when it did so I could grill a Store-Bought Pizza for tonight’s supper. This was new flavour and it tasted great for me but a bit too spicy for Kathy. I had an extra piece of Pizza to eat and Kathy had a Peanut Butter and Jam Sandwich.

We watched the last movie from that CD of eight called “Mister Johnson” with Pierce Brosnan. It was about a young Nigerian man back in the 1920’s trying to compete in a growing Capitalist World. Very interesting.

We’ll be getting another large storm throughout the night. With the time ticking away we still have a lot of things to get ready before we head south. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!
