Being A Journeyman Again.

After being reminded that I my Hip/Leg treatment would be this week, after we completed the Feedscrew yesterday, Mile asked that I train Sherush how to TIG Weld. For someone who had only Arc Welded in College, then MIG Welded for Two Weeks, he has suddenly been Overwhelmed with all the Training he has had in the last Nine Days.

The first thing I did was to set up the Portable Welding Shield before starting to explain the make up and function of the equipment. Next it was explaining technique, then giving a demonstration. Since I have been doing this since 1977 it is second nature to me. The biggest problem he was having was to not rush. I’m certain he was startled the few times I grasped his gloved hand to adjust his technique and slow him down. Anytime that happened, after he stopped I would explain why and we slowly made progress.

As we returned from lunch, Mile pointed to a Unit that needs to go out early next week and had a lot of Touch -Ups. At the Inspection Bench, bit by bit I did the delicate edging. By the end of the shift all that remained were the heavy core areas that will give Sherush plenty of practice and experience in the morning.

Using a Coupon, I stopped at Arby’s and picked up a couple of Greek Gyros for supper.

Bob the Kennametal Technician had replied to my E-Mail about the PTA Problem asking questions and giving alternatives to our techniques.

Yesterday there were Five Raw Bars brought in, with Eight more expected by the end of the week. All those are jobs that will keep the business going throughout the Winter.

We’ll see how things go until Friday.
