Unexpected Events.

Our Location today is at Windsor, Ontario.

I arrived at my normal time which is typical on days there’s no production but there was no one else in sight. I tried the doors but they were all locked so I sat in the Truck waiting. At 6:55 the Shipping Clerk arrived to open things up. I barely punched in on time but that wasn’t my fault.

As soon as I could I started loading the Skid with all the tools that we would be needed for the job. Right on schedule Ivan walked in at 7:30. It didn’t take long to have the Skid and the Two Frames up on the Mezzanine. Minutes later Two Line Workers on clean up duty joined us to position the Frames. There were Low Pipes that we had to go under before standing them up straight.

As mentioned yesterday this little Compressor was approximately the size and weight of our Car. Once the Frames were in position Ivan would hand me Chains and Tools while I assembled things for the lift. When using Chains it is surprising how much Hidden Slack there is as well as an unforeseen issues that we worked around. While Ivan watched safely I was actually sitting on top of the unit working the Come-Alongs in order to first raise the Compressor then once the Skid was removed lower it back to the floor. It was past 12:00 when I finished putting all the Tools back where they belonged in the Compound.

I started getting ready to mount and Electrical Junction Box where Paul the Owner had asked for. Having to weld a leg to the Unistrut for extra support I had to bring the Big Machine out to the Line. It seemed the Plug was too far from the Job but when Paul came out he showed me where closer Plugs were located. Not knowing they were there most would have walked by them.

I barely finished installing the Junction Box when Paul came by to say the Compressor needed to be Two Feet further from the Wall. Using a Pry Bar and Wooden Blocks as shims it took close to an Hour but Me, Myself and I got it where he had said.

Since it’s Friday we get our Pay-Cheques at the end of the shift but when I went to the Office it was locked and Paul was gone for the day. I’ll definitely be telling him what I think on Monday and it’s just another reason for leaving.

At the Apartment Kathy was surprised that Paul left without giving me my pay. She had a chance to go visit our dear friend Kathie who we haven’t seen since last year when the Coronavirus first came out. She was in tears thinking we had abandoned her. I’m certain a lot of people feel that way.

My clothes were still soaking wet so I headed for the shower. It was refreshing. We simply had Chicken Noodle Soup for supper with an Apple Sauce Cup for dessert. With the temperature forecasted to feel higher then the Century Mark I decided to do the laundry this evening. With the Dryers not working properly it was nearly 10:00 by the time we got thing put away.

  2. Inexcusable. Terribly sorry but I haven't been able to read except once since I got home. I'll do better.
