It Wasn’t Our Fault.

Our Location today is at Windsor, Ontario.

Kathy headed off to bed minutes after I posted our Blog last night. Once I make certain that it has gone live I then reset the Document Template so that I will be ready for the next day. It was at that moment that the phone beeped and the screen lit up. A second later Kathy was gasping for air.

I’ve mentioned that we both sleep using CPAP Machines. CPAPs require electricity to operate and when there’s no electricity they shut down. We had no Power and the only lights that were working were the Emergency Lights in the hallway. Kathy couldn’t understand how that never happened in our Trailer. It did many years ago until I set up a Battery Bank with a Pure Sine Wave Inverter then it never happened again.

We knew we would not sleep properly without our Machines but after an Hour we headed off to bed with hopes the power would come on soon. We tossed and turned forcing ourselves to lay on our sides to minimize our Apneas. Soon finally happened at 5:30 this morning when we heard the phone once again beep then our Machines energized. At least we slept until nearly 9:00 using our CPAPs.
We had a Muffin for breakfast but really could have gone back to bed. Looking at the Cloud filled sky only enforced that thought but instead we followed through with our morning routine with our Coffee/Tea at the Computers.
Thinking food might help the situation we had Chicken and Rice Soup along with an Open-Faced Cheese Sandwich for lunch. Then we had Grapes, a Yogurt Cup and the last of the Very Berry Pie for dessert.

The food seemed to help give us the energy we were lacking. We accomplished a number of things including getting our Tax Return ready this afternoon. Like the US, Canada has also extended the due date but why wait.

I forgot to mention how we had our Balcony Door open less the a minute today. With the 43 F (6 C) temperature and 30 MPH Winds it was just a little too breezy inside.
Around 5:00 we worked together making breakfast for supper. We had Ham and Eggs with Toast. Then Kathy served out a small dish of Chapman’s Chocolate Frozen Yogurt for dessert.

While we were watching the 6 o’clock Local News we found out why the power went out last night. Someone driving a brand new Jeep Wrangler went around a bend on Riverside Drive a bit too fast and took out the Power Pole a Quarter Mile from our Apartment. The Jeep has a few salvageable parts left and the driver was charge with “D U I”.

Even though we hope to have a better night’s sleep maybe I should set up an Inverter in our Apartment. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. There's usually a simple explanation for why our power outages occur but sometimes we never find out what it is. Glad all is well.

  4. Us RVers get reliant on that backup power source. In Mexico the power goes off lots and most of our neighbours there have really old bad batteries and in about a half hour they are asking us why we still have power. I just show them all the batteries!!

  5. I slept little last night too. Leonard was watching TV in the living room til after 1. And he just does not realize how loud he needs the volume. I finally drifted up after 3. Biscuit likes to go out by 7.

Lets hope we all get a better nights sleep tonight.

  7. Glad you two made it through the night. Good idea to have a couple batteries and an inverter for times like that. Hook up a solar panel and you'll be ready for the next drunk:))
