Working Things Out, Errands and More Changes To Our Plans.

Our Location today is at Windsor, Ontario.

We both managed to have a very restful night’s sleep. Since I had only planned on getting more things fixed up around the Apartment I even rolled over and got a few more nods in before getting up after 8:00 this morning. I opened the Balcony Blinds before cracking the ones in the Bedroom slightly. By the time I had gotten things ready for breakfast Kathy came out to join me.

We went through our usual routine before talking about what we wanted then needed to take care of today because the List we started the other day was getting longer. The decision was made that we needed to run some errands thus putting our Plans on hold.
Since it was getting close to noon we had a nice bowl of Vegetable Soup with an open faced Grilled Cheese Sandwich for lunch. Our dessert were some Chocolate Chip Cookies with a Frozen Raspberry Tea for our beverages.

As I have mentioned many times in the past when I start getting too many Aches and Pains I exercise to work out the kinks. When I was still working I went to the Exercise Room almost daily after my shift. We also had our own Exercise Room in the house we owned. When we moved into the Apartment in Tecumseh our second Bedroom was an Office/Exercise Room. When we went Fulltime at Wildwood Golf and RV Park I would use their Exercise Room. When we were on the road or in the desert I would occasionally pull the Dumbbells from the Basement and I would exercise myself back into shape. Since moving into this Apartment I have not had the chance to exercise and have really started feeling it.

I mentioned last week how we still have our Mail delivered to Guardian Storage so we didn’t have to change our address on any legal documents. We also have another Mailbox for this Apartment that we get Advertisements, Coupons and Junk Mail in. It just happened that recently we received Advertisements for Two different Gyms priced within our range and the Specials they were offering ended today.

I went On-Line and found that both these Chains have locations throughout Canada and the US. After reading information on both I tried to register but couldn’t get the On-Line registration to work. That left only One other option. After lunch we headed off to check them out but it wasn’t until we arrived at our first stop that we realized we’d forgotten the Camera again. While Kathy stayed in the Car I went inside to find out what I could.

The first place I checked out was recommended by our grandson Tyler called Crunch. It has been around for a couple of years but it looked clean and the staff were very informative. They are not places for Body Builders but they do have personal coaches available if you so desire. Since it was the early afternoon I was surprised how busy the place was. I was impressed.

The next place was called Planet Fitness. This location was still considered “Under Construction” so anyone wanting to sign up could look over all the new equipment but were not allowed on the floor itself for Liability reasons. I also ran into another former Co-Worker that was also signing up. He told me of personal experiences from both Good Life and Crunch so that helped me to make up my mind. For the time being a Basic Package is all I need but it can be upgraded and downgraded according to our travels. The Cost is $10.00 a month plus a $39.00 yearly fee. Their Premium Package has more benefits like going to any location or bringing a Friend anytime for only $22.00 a month plus the yearly fee. Both Packages can be cancelled with No Penalty. They will be opening for business at 6:00 tomorrow morning and will be open 24/7 except Christmas and New Years.

We drove over to the Bulk Barn to get a few things for our Pantry. Then we walked to Zehr’s to get a few groceries. We then drove to the east end Walmart where we got some Toiletries along with an Electric Grill. Since we are not allowed to have Barbecues on our Balconies due to Fire Codes we have to find other ways of grilling our meals.
Taken from our Files.
We headed over to Dollarama to get a number of things to use in the Apartment. The Sun was starting to go down as we were leaving so we drove to Arby’s where we both enjoyed a Greek Wrap Combo for supper.

There were plenty of Shopping Carts to use when we got back to the Apartment. After watching the 6 o’clock Local News we went on our Computers. After getting an E-Mail from our daughter-in-law Jen our Plans for tomorrow have already changed. Good thing their written in Jell-O. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  1. I used to spend an insane amount of time at the gym. Now, I try to walk (alot) most days and I see cyclists/runners of all ages out unless the weather is too cold. And of course, the local gym (I think it is a Planet Fitness) is always busy (at least its parking lot is).

  2. Gosh, that's cheap. My gym membership cost $55 a month, whether I used it or not! Mostly not. Now they seem to run much cheaper, and if you have the right health insurance, it is free for us old folks.

  3. I would look for a local senior center. Insurance will pay membership. They usually have an exercise room with the basics. Unless you're looking for the ripped look of a 50 yr old.

  4. I've found there's very few people I know that consistently use the gym and I think that's what they're banking on honestly. IF it can be cancelled at any time..then maybe that's different. Does your apartment building have an exercise room?

  5. I've done the gamut of joining a gym also when I was working. It was always great at the beginning and then for one reason or another, I'd stop going and couldn't wait to get out of the contract. They always had way more machines etc. than I'd ever use so resorted to just walking. I don't think I'm alone in that regard. Good luck with your search!
