After taking another Extra Strength Tylenol
before I went to bed I did manage to get some sleep. By the time I
got up just before 7:00 the Pain had subsided to a constant
Ache. Because of the time not spent exercising I will once
again have to slowly build back into the routine so today will be a
day off.
One of the things on my List I made
yesterday that needed to be done was to call TracFone
to get Kathy’s Cell Phone back up and running.
When we spent our first Winter in Quartzsite
we updated her Cell Phone and it worked
perfectly. Last year when we arrived at La
Posa South it would not work because the AT&T
Signal was too weak so we again had to replace the
Phone with one that would use the Verizon
Towers. It again worked great until we went home to Windsor
where TracFones don’t
work. Fast forward to now we are back in the USA
and her Cell Phone says the SIM Card is not meant for
her unit.
How many of you know the Serial Number of
your SIM Card? When you have a problem with your TracFone
they want that along with the number on the Battery and Phone.
When Kathy came downstairs to have breakfast at 7:45 she wasn’t too
happy to see her Cell Phone in pieces on the table with
the Magnifying Glass sitting next to it.
When she took her Tea over to her
Computer, I was on my Cell Phone with TracFone
Tech-Support. They were surprised that I had all
the information ready. It still took nearly Forty Minutes of
adding Codes before the unit rebooted itself and is now good
to go. One Down!

It's all about Rockets even the trash. |
Kathy checks our accounts On-Line every
few days to be certain nobody else is using it. Just before we left
the Park in McGregor
she couldn’t get in one of the accounts because they implemented a
New Online Security System. Today was a repeat
that required more time on the Phone acquiring today’s
special Code. This is a PITA but they are trying to
stop the Bad Guys from stealing our money. Another One
Down!
In all the years that I have worked on vehicles
when I purchased Fluids never did I have to open the Security
Cap to verify that the Seal was intact. (Remember
Tylenol?) The other day while in Carlsbad
I purchased some fluids to deal with the Truck Issue. When I
opened the Security Cap on the first container I found the
Seal half gone and the contents replaced with Water.
Yesterday when I called the Auto Zone
to report the problem and was put on Hold for a Half Hour.
After being on Hold for Ten Minutes this morning I
recalled the store making certain I wasn’t put on Hold again
telling them they had a problem and what it was.
Wanting to use up certain things in the Fridge
we had an early lunch of Chicken Noodle Soup, Bagels
with Cream Cheese along with Yogurt and Oranges for dessert.
We were on our way out the door by 12:00 headed
to the New Mexico Museum of Space History.
We paid Senior’s Rate $7.00 each to visit the
main building but there had to be a glitch. Kathy’s Knee is
still bothering her and the Elevators were “Out of Order”
so we had to take the Stairs up to the Second Level before
we could use the Ramps to go further up. We’ve been to
Kennedy Space Center in Florida
many times but didn’t think that most of their
Technology was actually developed here in the desert.

One of their displays credits Star
Trek creator Gene Roddenberry for helping the Space
Program as a whole. He encouraged his writers to create things
that we didn’t have back in the 1960’s such as
Computers, Lasers, Personal Handheld
Communication Devices (Cell Phones), Microwave Ovens,
Solar Panels collecting energy, International Space
Stations, Deep Space Exploration and More. Look
around today most of those dreams are now a reality.
This is the Chair the Chimpanzees were strapped in before being sent into Space. |
They have their own Hall of Fame
crediting not only all the US
Astronauts but those from Foreign
Countries as well. There was a section that showed how
Chimpanzees were the first to go into Space before
actually sending a Human Being. Kathy tried her hand at a
simulated landing of a Space Shuttle. The Computer said
“she had managed to go where no one else had”. The Docents
are all Volunteers but are extremely knowledgeable about the
history of Space Exploration and Rockets. Did you know
that Rocket powered Missiles have been around since
1845 when the Crimean War saw extensive use of Rockets
against the Russians.

Most of the early testing of Rockets and
Bombs in the US took place
in California, Arizona
and New Mexico during
times of War but still continue today.
The Red Arrow shows where this Sample was taken from. |
After all
that walking we still had to visit the displays outside where we had
the chance to test out the Whispering Rings. It was really
hard to believe that something so simple could work so well. We also
visited the Daisy Track display where it explained how they
tested how much pressure the Human Body could withstand. Since
it was too late for us to sit in on a movie in the lower building we
walked around learning how Satellites are used to monitor what
takes place on earth.
We headed out to the Family
Dollar where we needed to find a Repair Kit for
Kathy’s Computer Glasses. We found them in the last aisle we
checked but we also restocked our Soup Pantry
from their shelves.
The road to Kathy's left leads back to our Campground. |
With no more calls to make tomorrow we plan on
getting an earlier start to our day.
Thank
you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and
Enjoy!

What a fun museum!!
ReplyDeleteGreat tour of the museum! Looks like you two are enjoying!
ReplyDeleteGood thing you enjoyed the museum, with all the other things that went wrong! LOL it was a 'fixit' day! Hope for a better day tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteDealing with people on the phone is so annoying. But sounds like you are all squared away and a fun day at the museum.
ReplyDeleteAlways something with traveling across borders and cell phones. Spent an hour this morning and finally got someone smart enough to do the fix we have needed since Nov. 12th. Meanwhile have missed all of our business calls during that time.
