Hunkered Down By High Winds.

Our Location today is at the Walmart in Amarillo, Texas

We slept so well last night that we actually slept in this morning but the moment we got out from under our warmer winter covers we were packing up to hit the road. Since we’ve been cautious not to deplete our Batteries we haven’t been spending much time On-Line other then checking our E-Mail and posting the Blog. As soon as we stepped out the door we knew that had been a mistake. There was plenty of Sunshine but the Wind nearly blew us off our feet.

Arm in Arm we walked across the parking lot to the nearby McDonald’s to have our breakfast and even then we were walking like we’d had one too many the night before. As we ate we noticed a few RVs leaving but more coming off the road along with a number of Semis.

After enjoying breakfast and people watching we thought about checking out the local Big Lots store but with that Wind we decided to drive so it would appear we weren’t setting up camp. Back at Walmart there were more Semis than RVs filling their lot.

We made it to Big Lots with no problem but their parking lot was far from level. Since it was too windy to travel anywhere we would take our time just looking around. The more we walked the more things we were finding to add to our Christmas Gifts for 2019. Kathy is trying really hard to cut back next year so what we found today really helped. Before we knew it we had scratched off a few more things.

With the severe cold we’ve been getting lately and not knowing when we could find a Park to stay at, Kathy decided to get her hair washed. With the 32 MPH Wind coming from the south the Plaza helped us walk with little problem. We ended up at Cuts and Such and after signing in had a short wait before she was called. We chuckled to ourselves as we watched a set of Twins get their first Hair-Cut. They were well behaved but were amazed that their Hair was falling off the way it was.

It was 1:30 by the time we left there and were starting to get hungry. Seeing a Pizza Hut we dined in and ordered a Medium Thin Whole Wheat Crust Meat Lovers Pizza. That was the thinnest pizza crust we’ve ever had and when we walked out we weren’t hungry nor stuffed.

We were going to go back to the Walmart parking lot but I suggested we try the Amarillo RV Park again. It only took minutes to get there and when asked if they had a site for us today they said they had just gotten a cancellation. We decided to stay two nights to do the chores we listed yesterday.

Once we were all set up outside we also set up inside. That meant we could take our time to really check things out On-Line. Tonight temps will be cool but by the middle of the day tomorrow we should be seeing Flurries that will last into the morning on Monday. If there is too much accumulation we might stay another day. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.

  1. So happy you were able to get into the Park. You caught some nasty weather. Hope the snow doesn't stay around and you can be on your way.

  2. Seems a big dip in temperatures is pretty much covering the whole area from New Mexico east. Stay warm.

  7. Yikes! We've been complaining about the cold back here in Michigan, but it looks like there's not many places we could be that aren't cold! Glad you got into an RV Park for a couple days!
