Long Haul, Started Christmas Shopping and Camp Walmart.

Our Location today is at the Walmart in Amarillo, Texas

Since there was so much truck traffic moving around the Truck Stop last night we did what was necessary to sleep, we used our Ear Plugs. Talk about a peaceful night’s sleep. It wasn’t until I told Kathy it was time to get rolling that she woke up. After making a quick breakfast and closing up to travel we were soon back on I-40 heading to our next southwestern adventure.
We didn’t stop until 1:00 in Clinton, Oklahoma where it seemed that everyone with a small car had to use the One Pump capable of Dispensing Diesel. After we were finished there we found a Wendy’s to have the same things we normally have back Home. Even thought there is a lot of the old Route 66 that ran through this city there are also a few Museums giving more information about it. Something we might spend more time investigating the next time we are in the area.
It almost feels like we haven’t been able to get warm and that the Cold Air has followed us from Home. When Kathy looked at the Local News for our Home Town today it showed they had their First Snowfall of the season but luckily it melted.
Back on the Highway we talked about going to an RV Park in Amarillo that we’ve stayed at Three Times in the past. We planned on getting cleaning, laundry and warm showers. It was just before 5:00 CST when we arrived only to be told they were full up and so were the rest of the RV Parks in the area. When all else fails we headed up the road to the local Walmart. There were already a dozen RVs parked most not having tried to get in the parks.
We walked over to What-a-Burger to have supper. Being that it was our first time at that chain, we were pleasantly surprised and will probably go back in the future.
After getting permission from Walmart to stay the night we did some walking around. Kathy finally bought her first Christmas Gifts for 2019 but promises she’s cutting back this year. It seems what we can purchase in the southwest this year won’t be on the shelves back Home until next fall. And since we give the Gifts at our Merry Thanksmas Celebration in October we are ahead of the game.
Today was our longest travel day this season logging in 304.7 Miles and we were trying to cut back. Where have we heard that before? Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. I haven't even given much thought to Thanksgiving never mind buying gifts for this Christmas. You go Kathy. Hope you find a RV Park tomorrow

  2. It seems the rush to warmer territory is on! I always try to stop around 3:00 in order to get a camping spot.

  3. We plan on about 200 miles a day and then pick a spot to stop in that area before pulling out in the morning. That gives us plenty of time in case there is an issue with overnight parking. It also allows us to keep rested for multiple travel days in a row. Just a thought.
