Getting Out and Handicap Injury.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Since we didn’t have to rush to do anything today, the first thing we did was to sleep until 8:30 this morning. We were really going to push the limits, so unlike yesterday we had Muffins for breakfast with a Juice, then Hot Chocolate drinks over to the Computers.

Notice we were really pushing it, so the first thing I checked as always was the Weather. The Forecast and the Radar both showed on and off Rain for the entire day. Looking out the Balcony Door reminded me of a scene that we’ve been watching replay over and over. That was how I often thought of my jobs, they were always different but the same. I often tell Kathy to go walk around the stores, but she always worries that I might need her. I need her Love and Affection, but when I barely move around, she needs to think of herself nd I’ll manage.

I told her we’re getting out and going visiting. No Planning and no Calling, just drop in for an Hour and go. That was all she needed to hear and we were soon on our way out the door with our Raincoats in hand. (That sounds what we would do more in the Fall.) Walking out the rear entrance door we could smell the Rain in the air.

It was nearly noon when we stopped at Wendy’s for lunch. Again we enjoyed their Classic Chicken Sandwiches and a Free Seniors Soft Drinks. For a Sunday, the place was packed with Seniors bringing tables together and gathering as groups. It is one of our favourite Fast Food Outlets we like to go, but you know you go someplace too often when, a few of those Seniors mentioned they hadn’t seen us in a while. (I guess Friday’s breakfast didn’t count.)

We were about to leave but sat for an extra Five Minutes for the Rain to stop. Our first visit was at our daughter Karen’s house in Tecumseh. She and granddaughter Kylla were busy putting groceries away, while grandson Tyler was going through his Mail. Having to go to Toronto for training every month, his mail gathers fast. We spent nearly an Hour just visiting and left with well wishes for this coming Wednesday.

As we headed up Manning Road, we could see Black Clouds in the distance and we were headed straight for them. Oddly all the Road Construction we saw earlier this summer was all gone, but we could see Rain falling in the farmers fields.

When we arrived at our daughter-in-law Jen’s house in Essex we were surprised to find everyone home. Connor has been out job hunting since graduating in June, while Haigan will be returning for his final year in September. Again we were only there for an Hour.

We drove through a few Showers on our way to Amherstburg. We drove by Gerry and Sandy’s but didn’t see any vehicles, (Sorry I haven’t called lately.) so we continued to our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa’s house. We found them in the back, in their Hot-Tub. We didn’t mean to disturb them, so we visited while they soaked. Mother Nature had other plans by dropping a Deluge while we sat there talking. They told us about all the new Commercial Buildings being built so when we left, after an Hour, we took a little drive to check it out.

Again we drove through a number of Showers on our way back to Windsor as well as seeing Rain in the distance. This had been a relaxing day, so didn’t want to ruin it by going home and start cooking. I wanted this to be special where we could order off a Menu, but when I pulled in to the Michigan Diner, there was a line up out the door and the parking lot was full.

Looking across the road to Eastside Mario’s was just as bad and it was only 5:00. As we drove through the lot at Tecumseh Mall, people were standing by the building looking at Six Inches of water surrounding their vehicles.

We finally stopped at Smoke & Spice, which has appeared on the Food Network’s show called “You Gotta Eat Here”. We were here years ago and were not disappointed this time. I figured we’d be taking half home with us, but Kathy was so hungry and insisted I eat my share, we only had some Waffle Fries to take home.

As we were leaving we had to wait under the canopy for another Deluge to stop. All the way home we watched it Rain ahead of us, so I dropped Kathy off at the front entrance of our building.

As soon as I got out of the Car it started Raining. I reached inside to pull my Raincoat off the back of the seat. When it came loose, I sliced the back of my Thumb open on my Handicap Parking Permit on the visor. (Is that a sign or what?)

I didn’t make it inside very Dry, but this day was worth every minute. We’ll have the Fries tomorrow.

  1. You are so blessed that you can visit your families in one day. We can't. My older daughter lives in MD that is 771 miles from us. Younger one lives in Pa... 801 miles. Lens younger daughter lives in Louisiana ....594 and his older daughter in TX....833 miles. His son lives 20 miles. We see them but a few times a year. They have busy lives. Our "extended family" has become the friends we have made at church and two senior centers.
