Walk Around Day

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

I’m guessing that it will take the warmer temperatures of Florida in January before Kathy and I start sleeping uninterrupted throughout the night. It just seems we continue to wake at the least noise or movement that the other might make. Yes we finally get back to sleep but all those wakeful moments add up and leave you feeling drained when it is time to start the day.
We were up shortly after 8:00 giving us time for breakfast and some computer time before I headed out. I had a medical test performed last month and this was a follow up appointment. The results were good and the Doctor was very satisfied. By the time I got back to the apartment Kathy was already preparing lunch.
Once we were finished we left to go do some Mall Walking and People Watching. Those two hobbies go together quite nicely and can be very entertaining. We started by going to the Devonshire Mall where we browsed everything from clothing stores to book stores. The only thing we bought after nearly two hours of walking were a snack and a pop that we shared.
Since the afternoon was still early we headed over to the Tecumseh Mall. We repeated our browsing the same as before but included a stop at the Dollarama and Zellers Department Store. This time we actually spent nearly $20.00 on some office supplies and a few snacks to have around the apartment for when the urge might arise.
The one thing we really noticed today was the number of people loaded down with what appeared to be Christmas shopping. Do you think the fact that there are only 24 days left have anything to do with it? The time is flying by.
We called it a day and headed for home where we enjoyed a delightful supper. After the 6:00 o’clock news we finished off the day on the computers. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Visiting Laundry Day.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Kathy and I both slept soundly last night until nearly 9:00 this morning. Yet we were still tired due to the last few sleepless nights we have been having.
Bill and Vera at Cracker Barrel.
We don't have a clue who the woman in the background is.
As soon as breakfast was over Kathy headed to the computer while I stripped the linens off the bed and readied myself to go work on the laundry. The laundry room was busy so it was a matter of starting one load at a time. After the washers were started I collected the mail and brought it up to our apartment where I found Kathy just putting the vacuum cleaner away.
Vera, Bill and Kathy joking around in Waldrug, South Dakota.
Within the half hour I was back downstairs to transfer the wash to the dryers before heading up for lunch. I also had a chance to start reading some of the blogs we follow.
Bill, Kathy and Vera up to their necks in hot water at
Fountain of Youth RV Park, Thermopolis, Wyoming.
Once I had finished folding the laundry I needed to just sit and relax as the hernia belt seems to restrict my breathing somewhat as well as the pain from the hernia. I had planned on making the bed but just didn’t seem to have the energy to do it at that time so I finally got caught up on my blog reading.
Bill, Vera and Kathy in Colorado
As we were finishing our supper the phone rang. It was our friends Bill and Vera and they were stopping by for a very short visit. Within the half hour we met them at the front door and gave them a tour of our apartment. I had not made the bed yet but they were very understanding of my condition. We had an enjoyable visit exchanging news of both their and our families as well of recapping the trip we took together this past summer. Bill and Vera also brought us a gift of homemade Hungarian Hurka. Hurka is similar to sausage but with rice and spicing blended into the casings and both Kathy and I really like the way they make theirs.

Now once I have posted our blog tonight I will go make the bed up and put it to good use. Maybe this way we can get rested for the next 25 days that we have until Christmas. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Shirts, Ties, Socks, Teddy Bear?

British hotel chain Travelodge surveyed 6,000 Britons and discovered that 35 percent of adults admitted they sleep with their teddy bear because they found cuddling their bear comforting. Additionally, many said the calming feeling of a bear hug helped them lower their stress level after a hard day. A large number of the bear-toting travelers are men. Travelodge said that 25 percent of men reported they take their teddy bear with them when going away on business. The stuffed animal supposedly reminds them of home and--some say-- helps fill a cuddle-void left by distant partners.

Quieter Day.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Kathy and I both had a hard time sleeping last night. Kathy kept dreaming that she was cooking and baking. Myself after tossing around for hours because numbers kept going through my mind I got up for a couple of hours. When 9:00 rolled around this morning we were both tired and I figured out that there are only 26 days until Christmas.
Kathy with Grandsons Matthew and Tyler on Blue Ridge Highway.
After breakfast and working on the computers Kathy decided to see what new kinds of dishes she could make with the food in the refrigerator. Myself since I was diagnosed with the Hernia I was told not to exercise as it would aggravate the problem. Unfortunately not working out was a cause for other problems that were causing much more pain than the hernia. Watching not to overdo my workout I shortened my cardio and lessened the number of reps with the weights. Needless to say I am not in as much discomfort tonight.
Tyler and Matthew practising their photography skills.
Blue Ridge Highway.
For lunch we enjoyed our Taco Soup which helped to warm us up since the sun didn’t appear until nearly 4:00 this afternoon. Our supper was Kathy’s new recipe that is definitely a keeper.
Matthew (F) Tyler (M) Kathy (B) Kennedy Space Center, Florida.
Being Wednesday we headed out to visit with our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa. Last week they had all kinds of things going on and so did we so we missed out on our visit. There was a lot more to talk about but we managed to cover all that was necessary until the next time.

Even though the temperature climbed back to seasonal tonight it has dipped back to below the freezing mark and the windchill is making it feel colder. The middle of January can’t come fast enough for Kathy and I. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Sunny Errand Day.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Even though the sun had officially risen to start our day we were both up before it made an appearance from behind the clouds. It was a wonderful sight even though it meant protecting our eyes against its glare and bundling up against the cold breeze that remained below the freezing mark all day.
Alamo Monument, San Antonio, Texas.
The reason for deliberately not sleeping too late this morning was because Kathy had a doctor’s appointment for shortly after 10:00 this morning. While there her doctor reminded her about getting her Pneumonia Shot since we will be travelling through the changing climates this spring and Kathy is very susceptible because of the number of times she has had it.
Inside the Good Enough Mine, Tombstone, Arizona.
From there we went downtown to pickup her new prescription sunglasses that she had made by having her old glasses tinted. The best part of that was the cost $0.00 because she always buys her glasses through our Optometrist.
Grand Canyon, Arizona.
Leaving there Kathy was upset at how dirty her car was from all the construction dust so we swung into the car wash just around the corner from the Optometrist. We almost didn’t recognize the car when they were finished cleaning it inside and out. It hasn’t been that clean since the last time I had washed it at our house before moving to the apartment.
Yellowstone Park, Wyoming.
We still needed to make a few more stops but the other day the Windshield Washer Pump stopped working on the car. With winters grimy window season fast approaching I advised Kathy it would be quicker to bring her car back to the dealership. Luck was on our side because even though the mechanics were just heading for lunch they would be able to look at it as soon as they returned.
Sulphur Springs, Yellowstone Park, Wyoming.
We walked across Tecumseh Rd to a diner called the Penalty Box. We had a fantastic tasting Pulled Pork Sandwich that was more than filling and would definitely hold us over until a late supper.
Buffalo Bill Historic Center, Cody, Wyoming.
Once back at the dealership the customer service representative Bob informed us that it was indeed the pump that had failed. The problem was they had just used their last pump they had in stock so their deliveryman had to run across town to pick one up at the other dealership. By 2:30 we were lighter in the pocketbook but the pump was now working and I didn’t have to tear apart the front fender and crawl underneath the car to fix it.
Prairie Dog City at Devil's Tower Monument. Wyoming.
Last stop we made was picking up more Antibiotics for Kathy’s sinus infection. Once we were home it was a matter of getting caught up on our computer work thinking of what kind of snack we’ll have in place of supper and be thankful that Christmas is only 27 days away. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Cookie Day.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Due to another tossing and turning night of sleep we did manage to sleep close to 9:00 this morning. Have to catch up on our rest somehow. The weather prediction for the day was for mostly sunny skies and temps closer to the mid 30’s. We did get the temp that was predicted but the sun decided to stay hidden from view behind the clouds that kept the windchill well below the freezing mark.
More dusting today.
This morning while I Swiffered the floors in an attempt to keep the dust from the building construction under control Kathy was busy working on a new recipe for Christmas cookies. As usual they turned out great but like Kathy said you have to be careful around them because they could be addictive as having one cookie just tastes like another. And I’m trying to lose weight Yeah Right!
Of course I didn't think to take a picture until they were half gone.
Our granddaughter Kylla was supposed to stop over for a visit this afternoon. She has been walking home from school in order to exercise the leg she had surgery on this past summer. The route home brings her past our building so it is only a few extra feet of distance. What she forgot was that she had an appointment with her Physiotherapist this afternoon so she didn’t make it over. That just means that we’ll get together later this week on a day she doesn’t have therapy.
Blue Ridge Mountains looking towards Gatlingburg.
Christmas is now only 28 days away. That’s right four whole weeks left which means you’ll be seeing a lot more people filling the Malls and Department Stores and more traffic on the roads. Kathy and I are very happy to say we have been done our shopping and wrapping since the beginning of October. Good luck to all the shoppers that wait until the last possible moment hoping to get better deals on the gifts they hope to find for their loved ones.
That's why they call them the Smokey Mountains.
On the 6 o’clock News the weather forecast for our area is very little sun for the rest of the week but the temps will be slowly climbing until Sunday. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Relaxing Busy Day

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Waking up this morning the clock was displaying 8:00 as the time but there was little sunlight that should have been seeping into the windows to make one feel that was correct. As soon as I opened the curtains in the office the answer was very clear. Nature had left its calling card reminding us that Christmas is only 29 days away. We had received our first dusting of snow last night.
It didn’t just catch us off guard but even the squirrels were running around trying to find their stashes under the snow.  The sun finally appeared around noon to melt it away and to bring the temperatures above the freezing mark but not the windchill.
Kathy and I went to the Devonshire Mall to have lunch at one of our favorite restaurants Moxie’s. They serve a variety of meals from Brunches, Lunches and Dinners. Another thing that helped us to make up our mind was also the fact that we still had a gift card from Moxie’s to use. After enjoying a fantastic lunch and cashing in the gift card it only cost us an additional $5.00 for the tip.
From there we walked around the mall to burn off a few calories as well as people watching. There were lots of parents bringing their children to see Santa Claus some for the first time. Kathy managed to talk with some of the big guys own personal security.
We also stopped off so that Kathy would be able to find a warm enough hat to see her through until we leave for Florida in January.
Now we headed over to visit with our friends Kathie and Ross at their apartment. We spent a couple of hours catching up as to what everyone has been up to. We made a promise to get together between the holidays when we left for home.
Being that we were still full from our lunch we kept our supper fairly light. After watching the News we headed over to our daughter Karen’s for our Sunday night visit. Unfortunately Greg had been forced to work the afternoon shift today but we still got to visit with Karen and the grandchildren as well.
Back at the apartment we were just on time to see another new Christmas special on the television. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Cold Slow Day.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

After another night of broken sleep we were both out of bed and having breakfast by 9:00 this morning. According to the weather forecast the temperature was below the freezing mark with much colder winds. Even though the temps finally fell above the freezing mark this afternoon the wind remained relentlessly cold.
Big Horn Mountains Wyoming.
After our morning time on the computers Kathy went back to working on her recipe file cards while I collected data that I needed and upgraded my files.
Colorado
After lunch I called my sister Anna in London to see how she is doing since I hadn’t heard from her in a few weeks. Then Kathy just happened onto the Toronto Santa Claus Parade on the television. From the preshow to the wrap up it was nearly two hours long. The best part of watching it on television was we didn’t have to find a parking spot, fight our way through the crowds and we kept nice and toasty in our apartment.
Another way of keeping toasty.
Once supper was completed we watched the 6 o’clock News. Christmas is now only 30 days away. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Feeling A Lot Like Winter

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

It was another surprising night to have slept the entire night without waking up any time through the night. As predicted the temperature was cool and comfortable at 9:00 but it was all downhill from there. The temperatures dropped from 45 F (7 C) at 9:00 to just above the freezing mark by noon with cold winds that were well below chilling you to the bone.
Shipshewana, Indiana.
Once breakfast and the normal computer work were finished for the morning Kathy and I watched a bit of television. The Peter Walsh show Enough was on the OWN Network. He helps people who become so overwhelmed from the messes they have in their homes they just can’t bring themselves to part with anything. These people are basically one step down from Hoarders. He helps them to deal with the emotional detachment from things as minor as magazines they brought home to read years before but never read. Other excuses for keeping some of this stuff is they want to give it to their children. He also teaches these people organizational skills that helps keep themselves in check.
RV Hall of Fame, Elkhart, Indiana.
For many of us who chose to get rid of our sticks and bricks we were able to handle that kind of detachment to stuff on our own. Unfortunately many of our critics just don’t seem to understand how much freedom getting rid of that stuff has given us. Instead they are more than willing to criticize us for our ability to travel and in the next breathe wish they could do the same thing but they don’t want to give up their stuff and make their life simpler and have more time and money.
Wisconsin Dells
After lunch Kathy and I bundled up to bring a couple of chairs from off our balcony out to the trailer. The reason for bringing them with us is they are recliner chairs that really don’t fit on our balcony. Also when we leave in January we need to clean off the balcony for the contractors who will be refinishing it while we are gone. Good Timing!
Bighorn Mountains Wyoming.
Remember the cold wind I mentioned earlier it was also causing a problem for trying to close the basement door down on my arms and head. Once that was finished we did a walk around Walmart and then did the same around Canadian Tire where I picked up some Diesel Fuel stabilizer. I was quite surprised when I found that the price of the stabilizer was normal price 50% cheaper at the Canadian Tire store.
Re-enactment of Battle 1812 of Fort Erie, Ontario.
By the time we got home we had seen a lot of unpredicted white flakes flying across the road and swirling on the pavement when we were at the traffic lights. That meant we needed more of the Taco Soup we made yesterday to warm ourselves back up. With Christmas being only 31 days away it’s beginning to feel a lot like Winter. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Slow Easy Day.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

To all our American readers and fellow RVers we hope that you all had a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving Day with your families.
Mount Rushmore
After having a fairly restful night I still managed to wake up much earlier than necessary. Kathy and I had not planned on doing anything or going anywhere special so there was no reason for getting up that early. After enjoying our breakfast and reading E-mails and blogs we moved to the living room in order to watch the Macy’s Christmas Parade. As usual it was fantastic with lots of energy in the participants and work by many to make it all come together.
Rock City, Tennessee.
Since I looked at the weather forecast for our area on the computer this afternoon I went out to the parking lot to top off the fluids in the car and truck and to be certain the snowbrushes were in the back seats as it looks like we could be using them soon. After doing what I could outside I walked around to pick up our mail before coming back to the apartment.
Rock City, Tennessee.
Since I had been working to set up the new laptop lately I had neglected to be certain Kathy’s laptop was working properly. So this afternoon that is what I was doing. That laptop seems to have difficulty going online even when I plugged it directly to the modem using the Ethernet cable. I tried changing some settings but still was having problems so that might mean another trip to see our techs out in Essex.
Rock City, Tennessee.
Around 3:30 Kathy and I started making a nice big batch of Taco Soup like we had early last month. Once it was put together and had been simmering for a while we sat down for a tasty warm bowl of soup that was very filling. Plus now we also have lots left for more quick meals that will warm us up because our temperatures going to start staying closer to the freezing mark.

Slower Day

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

It was unbelievable that Kathy and I both woke up just before 8:30 because the fog covering was heavier today than it has been in a while. Just maybe it was because we both felt rested from having had a decent night’s sleep. It was an amazing feat that we both wish to repeat as often as possible.
Golf Coarse in Seaverville, Tennessee from a Helicopter.
Yesterday when we had gone to get our groceries we had returned to find a couple of phone messages waiting for us. Right after breakfast this morning I attempted to phone one office only to be told by an automated message the office would not be taking calls until Tuesday. The next office I called I spoke to the person to answer a question with no problem. After Kathy and I discussed the matter we had a question to ask that person but when I tried calling back I got another automated message saying the person I had spoken to not five minutes earlier would not be back in the office until Tuesday. With the way the economy is today there are businesses wondering why they can’t stay afloat. Running a business the way these two are makes you wonder how they stayed in business this long.
Kathy with Matt and Tyler at Wonderworks, Pigeon Forge.
Great place to teach kids how nature works and feels.
After lunch we went to pick up Kathy’s new glasses and to order her new sunglasses. You might wonder why she didn’t order them at the same time as her regular glasses. She uses her last pair of regular glasses and has them tinted to the desired darkness and saves lots of money that way and they won’t fall apart on her after she leaves the store.
Kenedy Space Center Vistors Area, Florida.
We stopped a few more stores just for exercise and passing some time. We still managed to be home shortly before 3:30. By that time my hernia was acting up and I needed to lie down just to let it subside.

A few of our readers commented about our granddaughter Ashley’s performance in The Nutcracker of how she looks like she is having fun while still performing. Those comments are very correct because not only does she love to dance but has been in dance school before she started Elementary school and was accepted into Walkerville Collegiate High school for the Arts here in Windsor. She is presently attending The University of Windsor on a Scholarship for the Arts.
