Exercise and I Was Dreaming.

One of the reasons that I always wrote the Blog in the later evenings, was the day’s activities were all fresh in my mind. Yes, doing this in the morning is at a more leisurely pace but are things being forgotten?

Karen and Kathy were again able to get out for a walk on Friday. It seems that Kathy is more willing to walk further with our daughter. She uses the excuse that I cannot walk as far, so she cuts it really short. They were cooling off in the Apartment, when I returned from using the Exercycle in the First Floor Gym. It was only Ten Minutes, but it felt good.

Saturday started out slightly Foggy but turned into a beautiful day. Thinking that we could go walking together, Kathy insisted that it had to be in a store. Since we had partially walked the Tecumseh Mall yesterday the next closest store was Walmart. A soon as Kathy saw the parking lot filled with cars, she wanted nothing to do with the place. I drove aimlessly along Tecumseh Road, until turning up Howard Avenue.

As we passed the Devonshire Mall, the bulging parking lot was an indication that Christmas Shopping was in full swing. Kathy criticized the shoppers, saying they could not afford to be shopping. We drove through the adjoining lots that held many newer retail and food outlets, she again found something to criticize them for.

We drove over to Walker Road and stopped at Michael’s. Walking through displays of Halloween Decorations had Kathy chuckling and joking about them, until she saw the Price, $$$. We then walked next door to Princess Auto. Kathy has always enjoyed walking through their Surplus Area, but it was full of shoppers and their children. I guess that is cheaper than hiring a Babysitter but did not stay.

As we were about to head for home, I noticed the familiar restaurant Frydays appeared to be open, so we went in. The last time we were there, there was a sign in their door, saying they were Temporarily Closed. We ended up having a very early supper. One look at me and they delivered our order to our table.

Noticing our gas gauge was getting low, we stopped at the Pioneer gas station to top off the Car.

We watched a few episodes of “Hazardous History with Henry Winkler”. I remember when many of those stunts were being done, only to now look back and realize how dangerous they were.

When it was time to go to bed the last Two Nights, Kathy has refused to take her medication for her Restless Leg Syndrome. She had managed to go to sleep Fifteen Minutes before I did. I was just starting to doze off in my Recliner, when she came out telling me it was time to go to Bed. She did that every Ten Minutes, until I finally did. Then she kept poking me, to see if I was still next to her, until we got up this morning. Asked about it this morning, she said that I must have been dreaming. Dreams don’t grab your toes to shake you awake.

For lunch today, I coached her how to make a simple Omelette, with Bacon Bits I cooked the other day, chopped Onions and Cheddar Cheese. It hit the spot.

Hopefully things will start getting better.

Errands and Chocking.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Shortly after publishing the Blog on Tuesday, Kathy and I headed out to run a few errands. The last one was to drop off the cleaned Food Storage Containers to our daughter Karen, who is making certain to keep us well fed. We even enjoyed a brief visit, along with a cup of Tea. She made plans to pick up Kathy to go visiting the next day.

True to her word, Karen arrived by 10:30 on Wednesday to take Kathy for a ride. Luckily, I had not made the appointment to have the Car diagnosed, because of Shoulder Pain, and spent most of the day icing it down. Kathy came back all smiles and happy to have spent the day with Karen.

Yesterday, after another pleasant night, sleeping mostly in Bed, I thought it would be nice just to get out in the sunshine and run some errands. Our first stop was at Wendy’s for lunch, where I reverted back to my normal diet of having Chili rather than Fries.

Our next stop was to collect our Mail at Guardian Storage. A slow moving Freight Train added Ten Minutes to the chore, but we were not in a rush and it gave us time to talk.

With a Coupon that was set to expire at the end of the day, we headed to the Shoppers Drug Mart at the Tecumseh Mall. Besides using the $10.00 Coupon, this was Seniors Discount Day, saving us an additional 20% off the Purchase Price.

Since it was connected to the Mall we took a walk down to the Dollarama. Kathy was very content and comfortable walking their aisles. I was starting to feel like my Sling was cutting off my ability to breathe so we headed for home.

I got caught up on my E-Reading, while Kathy followed the rabbit holes her Computer was taking her to. It was not until the “6 o’clock Local News” was finished, that we shared a Store-Bought Thin-Crust Medium Pizza for a late supper. The pressure in my chest continued to build, so when I sat in my Recliner, I unfastened my Sling. That helped my breathing, but the pressure was still there. We were laid back for the night, minutes after 10:00. It was a rough night, but the pressure was expelled and I woke up feeling much better today.

A little History Lesson. Both my late wife and I had this happen to us in the late 80s. While her’s was fixed after a single treatment, mine lasted for years. For over Three Years the pressure was so intense, I would never have known if I was having a Heart Attack. None of the medications the Doctors tried brought any relief. It was not until Three Months after I started Exercising on a regular basis, that the pressure went away. That is why, I used to write about exercising so much. Unfortunately, Kathy does not realize that there are Exercises I can do, that will not affect my Shoulder Recovery.

Kathy is making lunch and Karen is coming over this afternoon. I’ll write about it later.

Painfully Tortured

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

What time is it? We slept later than expected this morning, so we were in a mad dash scramble from the moment we got up. I took a quick glance at our Appointment Book and thought we could relax a bit, but we still headed out by10:00.

It was an amazing ride all the way to ARC, (Advanced Rehabilitation Center) not feeling all the jarring bumps that brought so much Pain a few Weeks ago. Walking in, I was all smiles that I was early as usual. Wrong, my appointment was an Hour earlier and I had looked at the wrong appointment. All was not lost, the woman whose appointment was for 11:00 showed up early. When the Physiotherapist saw the Surgeon's list of 6 Repairs done to my Shoulder, she turned pale and asked if I was still using my arm before Surgery. Of course the Thirty Pound grocery bags did not help.

She changed the position of my Sling which immediately eased the pressure in the Shoulder. After more Icing, the physical manipulation of my arm that has been in a dormant state for the last Eleven Days started. This was only the first day, with additional exercises to be added with each visit, so the Title was appropriate. As you are about to leave, they give you Homework. Yep, a list of exercises that you can torture yourself with at home.

We made a quick stop at Windsor Gas and Diesel, where I spoke to Jim about testing the Alternator. He does not believe it to be the reason the Battery failed. I’ll check our appointments before confirming with him.

Since we only had a snack for breakfast, we ended up at Wendy’s for lunch. Kathy handled the tray. That was the first time in years that I had Fries with my sandwich. We sat and talked before deciding to go shopping. With the customer rush over, we heard from Paula, our favourite server, that her son was in the Hospital and nearly died in the emergency. He just went home yesterday.

We went to Walmart to pick up Lettuce at less then half the price of the grocery store. We also got an Apple Pie as a sweet snack.

Kathy carried the Walmart bag, while I carried our Mail that we left in the Car overnight. We were barely in the Apartment, when our daughter Karen called. She has an appointment in the morning but wants take Kathy out for a ride. Sounds like the perfect time for Jim to check out the Car.

I wonder what we’ll be doing tonight.
