Restless Change.

Even though I normally prefer working Day Shift there are advantages to Afternoons with the biggest one being you wake when you do. Almost like being Retired. On Days most times you wake to the Alarm and whether or not you slept well it is time to get up.

Last night being that neither of us were feeling that great we took a Sinus Tablet and got to bed early. We both seemed to sleep for Five Minutes before tossing and turning for another Ten before falling asleep and repeating the process. It caused us both to just walk around the living room in hopes of relaxing but it did not work. Finally we both fell into a sound sleep only to have it interrupted by the Alarm only Ten Minutes later.

Neither of us were feeling like getting up but after taking a Tylenol Sinus Tablet to ease our headaches brought on by the lack of sleep we pushed on. We had prepacked necessities we were certain we would need. The most important was our tried and true GPS that we put on the Truck Console between us. The Writing Pad had a number of routes to take to our destination. There was a little eye straining through the Rain as we made our way from the main Highway to the many secondary ones. It was actually more relaxing then having an Electronic Box screaming incorrect directions at us. We arrived only Fifteen Minutes late after a Hundred Plus Miles to this unknown to us region. Weeks ago the scenery would have been Breathe-Taking.

The biggest reason for this dramatic Change is that we are not presently Fulltiming and second if something were to happen that Kathy needed to tow the Trailer she would be more confident doing so with a smaller unit.

This unit was only a few years older then our own but younger then most we had seen lately. Dave was a True Craftsman changing things that might have caused me thought. We came to an agreement before we headed off to St. Thomas. The challenge was getting around this hilly countryside where not all the Streets go in the same direction and detours will cause Miles of extra travel.

It was easy to find the Bank but being that it was 12:00 on Halloween Day it was packed with Werewolves, Witches and Goblins not counting the customers. The young teller had to be walked through the process by an experienced Executive. We walked across to Wendy’s for a burger for lunch.

Back through the rolling countryside we had all the papers signed and were ready to head for home but there was a problem. Dave still has all his Tools in the basement so will meet us halfway on Sunday with the Trailer. Today all we had to show were pieces of paper.

Strangely my Phone would not connect so I had to wait until we got back to St. Thomas to connect. The trip and weather had been draining but when I went to say I would be late for the Afternoon Shift, without telling them where I really was, my voice sounded so Raspy with congestion I was told to just wait until tomorrow to come in. That sounded better yet.

Today’s Road-Trip was over Three Hundred Miles and it Rained Eighty Percent of the day. So now we’ll hope the rest of the week and Sunday will shine some light on our Changes.

Another Change Down, Feeling More XXXX and A Change In Sight.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

I don’t know why but when we woke this morning after another Twelve Hours in bed it felt like we were back to Square One. Stuffy Headed, Sore Throats along with others like Coughing that are all associated to the Coronavirus though our Home Test Kits showed us Negative.

We would have like nothing better then to just go back to sleep but we had a 1:00 appointment to check on another possible Change. It was as clean as possible but some things could not be overlooked because of its age. Brian had attempted a few modifications but “Why hang a Television off the Door Frame?

Before we headed home we stopped at the Zehr’s grocery store for some Produce and Dairy Products.

Yesterday Kathy had spotted what sounded like a newer recently upgraded unit for only a few dollars more on Auto Trader. Not sure how to message through this site she had me do it. There was only one spot so I filled it in and sent it off. Suddenly I receive a message from Auto Trader about the dangers of On-Line Fraud. Then minutes later I started getting requests from people wanting to buy from us the Trailer we did not own.

After putting our groceries away and finding more of those requests I used the Contact Us button on the Auto Trader site. I explained their advertisement was the cause of this problem and they had better fix it. PS We are still interested in the RV.

This Picture is for Ken and Shirley.

Twenty Minutes later I had an E-Mail apologizing for the problem and the Phone Number to the ad we were interested in. Ten Minutes later after verifying I had the right person I had the Address of where to view it. We’ll be getting up early in the morning no matter how we feel.

Feeling Like XXXX and Not As Planned.

A Big Thank You to all our readers for your concern of our absence.

Kathy beat the Sun up.

If you recalled the week before Mile told me they normally don’t work Afternoon Shifts on Friday. Since we had delivered our former Home to its new owner we had other things in mind.

Why there were so many papers to sign at the Bank after the Loan for the Trailer was paid off is beyond our comprehension. We were there Four Times in the One Week with the last time being on Friday. At that point they were told if there were any more papers to sign they could watch our accounts going to Another Bank.

All that stress along with early and late hours at work I started to feel it. By Thursday Kathy was starting to feel better while I was getting run down. Getting home after 2:00 in the morning was hard enough when I was younger but now nearly impossible. Thursday evening I was out of there feeling like XXXX at 11:00.

Kathy was already sleeping but my hot shower and the over the counter medications barely helped me sleep. Waking together around 9:00 we got ready to implement our Plan. Notice I used that word. Having worked over Forty Hours in Four Days Mile was not happy when I informed him I was taking the day off. Our Plan was to take all the slips of paper and notepads along with my Computer to go shopping for Changes.

After stopping at the Bank we started visiting the RV Dealerships in the county. We were shocked to hear that Rob at 62 Years of age had to have a hole in his heart repaired. They didn’t have anything in the size we were looking for. The other Dealerships spouted they only sold New RVs. They didn’t the last time we were there.

After expanding our search we stopped for a bite to eat and to use their “Free WiFi”. We made over a dozen fruitless calls before heading back towards home. I was back to feeling like XXXX but after going through a number of Construction Zones I felt more like XXXXXX

Shortly after the snack we called supper I was in bed. Not only did I take a Tylenol Nighttime Sinus Tablet but a good dose of Tylenol Complete Syrup. I added to it at 3:00 in the morning.

We had an 11:00 appointment today to see one of the possible changes. The layout was perfect as was the outside but when Kathy ended up on her knees from the steep sloping bedroom ceiling we never had before in any other RV it got crossed off our list really quick.

Veggie Wraps and Tylenol Meds helping me get by.

Things didn’t go as Planned but then as we were enjoying our Veggie Stir-Fry Wraps for supper we got a call. I sent a message days ago to see Brian’s Trailer. Being a Trucker he just got back home. We’re not Planning anything but it would be nice.

Looking At Changes.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

When we had issues with our Truck in New Mexico that weren’t properly resolved until we were in Arizona. We were thinking of staying put simply for the following year but then Covid 19 hit and everyone was staying put. Just when that started to clear up the Unprovoked Shootings that flooded the airwaves had Kathy scared of travelling to our favourite locations.

Figuring it would help offset the cost of the Rent for the Apartment we put the Trailer up “For Sale” and look for a Travel Sized unit. I was happy when it did not sell and figured that was a reprieve so I got rid of the sign. While working on the Trailer Jim came over to inquire about the Solar then he brought up the sign. He continued asking more about the Solar really wanting to set up an RV like this. Then he brought his wife Lorraine out to see the Solar Panels. She wasn’t interested in the Panels but the Trailer. A week later they made us an offer that we could not refuse.

Saturday we travelled to Chatham to look at a smaller unit. Unfortunately it was not well maintained and dirty with personal belongings and trash. That was the big disappointment.

We then stopped at a RV Dealership in Tilbury where they had a number of well kept Units. Kathy fell in love with a Travel Trailer unit though I am more of a fan of Fifth Wheels.

Last Panel going down.

On the road to a New Home.

We agreed to wait a while that was until we saw another unit On-Line at a Dealership. It’s more in our price range but its an Overnight Trip. There is still hope.

Other then being towed around the yard for exercise,
The Trailer has spent the last Three Years on this site.

Sunday morning after checking our Messages we were soon out the door. Taking the Truck we were soon at the Storage Yard. I still had a few things to do on the Trailer. I had to remove the Masking Tape, replace the Vent Covers then lower the Solar Panels. Unfortunately in my determination to Seal the roof I also managed to coat the Stainless Steel Bolts with the Sealer. That added over an Hour to that simple task.

Changing Colours.

Jim and Lorraine want to add their personal touch to the Trailer before setting it up as a Summer Home in a nearby RV Park. Being costs of travelling has risen so much lately the Local RV Parks don’t have enough room for everyone wanting to Stay-cation. They also don’t have a Truck to pull it with.

They live on a Cul-de-Sac that the By-Laws don’t allow RVs parked in front of the homes. Fortunately the neighbours moved their Vehicles and an Hour later their new to them Trailer was sitting in the Back Yard. They could not believe how well Kathy and I worked together.

We stopped at A&W for supper. Kathy started feeling Achy after we got home so is presently in bed. The Dealership with the Overnight Trip just Messaged me saying the Unit is still available. Sounds good to me.

As Suspected and Not What We Expected.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

As I mentioned in yesterday’s Blog the way things were not going as Planned at work would end up affecting things here at home.

When I went to work on Friday Mile came out to tell me there was no Friday Afternoon Shift. When I said he must have forgotten to tell me and I was there to work he said “No Problem”.

The Feedscrew that Alec and I rebuilt the night before had worked out perfectly but another had been rejected by the Lead Machinist. (That’s the same person who destroyed a Bearing Surface by using the Arc Welder instead of the TIG to fix a Pinhole.) To show his disapproval he used a Hand Grinder to dig out what nobody else had seen.

Alec helped me load it in the PTA before leaving. While it was warming up he gave me some tips. It wasn’t until he had left for the day that I started the first weld.

Think back that just over a Month ago this particular program was the cause of a lot of Frustrations and Headaches. As I was finishing that repair just after 6:30 Mile came around saying Alec had done a nice job. Think of the look on his face when I said it was my work. His smile was ear to ear.

Since the So-Called Machinist that work the Mill were not in by Law I could not be in the building by myself. Mile said he would stay until I was ready to leave. I showed him the next job I was going to do but he had other ideas. He brought me to the Inspection Bench. There was a Feedscrew that the So-Called Machinists had tried to clean too fast and had chipped the edge of the Flight on nearly the entire length. He just pointed and said I was good at fixing that. (Good thing the Lead Machinist didn’t hear that.)

A little History lesson. I have been Welding since the age of Twelve and have been TIG Welding for over Forty-Five Years. I had better be good.

The infernal Torch that leaked Coolant last week threw the hose Four Times before I finished the job and said good night at 11:00.

Kathy was happy that I got home early but not with the news. Since we had only completed one of the Twenty-Three Foot Feedscrews this week and more Rebuilds were arriving ever day I was told to stay on the Afternoon Shift for another Week by Mile. Like many others we now have to rearrange appointments.

It felt good sleeping a full Eight Hours last night but when I woke this morning I felt stiff and had an Achy Leg. Probably from all that balancing on One Leg while controlling the Welder with the other.

We had Banana Pancakes for breakfast before settling in at the Computers. The Documents I had submitted on Thursday were not complete as far as Tina was concerned so there was more Research to be done. As far as we are concerned things like that were never asked of years ago.

With a small Road Trip planned for this afternoon we headed out the door just after noon and stopped at Taco Bell. We used Coupons to keep our costs down.

This was the first time taking the Car on the 401 Highway and it handled quite well. Another reason for taking the Car is it gets Thirty Plus Miles Per Gallon compared to the Truck that at its best gets Twelve and the price is nearly $1.50/Gallon cheaper.

We arrived at the destination in Chatham and were at first enthused. However after a closer look things were not so good. We left a little down in the mouth but immediately came up with alternate ideas.

We made a stop in Tilbury and it seemed to give us hope. We also swung by Jim’s house just outside of Belle River. He was unfortunately not home. Back in Windsor we stopped at Wendy’s for supper. The one thing we both noticed from this short Road Trip was we were feeling Tired. The Car doesn’t have Static Straps like the Truck so I had better take care of that soon.

The 6 o’clock Local News was warning people to get Booster Vaccines because of the sharp increase of Coronavirus Cases in the area.

Tomorrow we’ll be busy with the Truck.
