Planned and Cactus Flower.

We all know what happens when I Plan things, but this wasn’t as bad as it normally is.

I Planned that if I woke early, I’d simply start getting things ready for the Laundry. Instead I tossed and turned until nearly 4:30 then managed to sleep late.

It took some doing but things got sorted. I took a wobble down to the Laundry Room, only to see it packed. The problem is right now there are only Four Washers and Four Dryers for the entire building to use. The new Laundry Room will have double the Machines but it is taking forever for it to be ready.

Back at the Apartment, we fixed the waiting game by having Soup for an early lunch since I did not know when I’d be back.

Downstairs it took about Twenty Minutes before I started with One Washer though the place was still packed. I kept walking to the Apartment for a number of excuses, such as being able to sit for a few minutes. It was nearly 4:30 when I arrived back with the last of the Folded Clothing.

Kathy had been busy dusting and cleaning while I was downstairs.

Since I had also Planned on doing the Pill Doucettes today we shared a Store-Bought Thin-Crust Hawaiian Pizza for supper.

I started prepping the Table to do what I needed. When the 6 o’clock Local News was pre-empted by a Comedy, I said some bad words.

Pulling out the Prescriptions and Vitamins, I was surprised to find Two Vitamins nearly empty. How could I have missed that? I checked my Spreadsheet and there it was at the top of the sheet where I had not looked.

Kathy headed off to Shoppers Drug Mart with the empty bottles in hand, while I continued doing what I could. The fact that I was doing Six Weeks worth of pills allowed me to get lots done before Kathy returned with the needed Vitamins.

By the time I finished both, I did not feel like updating my Spreadsheet so I’ll do it in the morning.

Checking the Comments on our Blog, I noticed what Cactus Flower was saying. After checking the brochure I am able to confirm the Injection that I’ll be getting is a Hyaluronic Acid treatment to fight the Osteoarthritis in my Hip. This is something that our bodies make naturally, but as we age there is less produced which allows for the Arthritis to set in, causing all the Pain we experience. If it can hold me over, I’ll be happy.

Mile Made Changes and Not Cortisone.

It felt good to be able to wear my Thigh Wrap Brace after I got to work this morning. It is hard to believe the difference that it makes as far as easing the Reflective Pain in me Hip/Leg.

After moving a Rebuild Feedscrew to the PTA, Mile came over with a change of how he wanted me to weld it. This Unit had been sent out to a shop in Detroit last week when our Plasma Transfer Arc was out of commission. The result of their welding left a lot of low spots on the Flights that I had been told to edge. It would have taken the better part of the day but, the change made it so by 10:00 the Feedscrew was buried in the Sandbox.

The next Unit has a due date for November the First. The Blueprint was drawn up by the Customer and had a design that none of the Machinists had seen before. Our Engineer Vinnie actually spoke to their Engineer to verify the sizing.

I’ve mentioned before how Flights are divided into Zones because of a transition in the Lead-In Value or the Width. This one ended up having Four Flights that created a Mixer affect, but they narrowed and widened as they went. In the end it has Four Flights with Nine Zones and if the Torch follows the numbers it’s been given, it will change the widths automatically.

It was barely 2:30 when Mile had me put that on the Rack to do more welding on the one he had me skimp on this morning. The Big Problem was I had already added the different Hard-Surfacing Material to the Bin. It took over an Hour to drain it, only Forty Minutes to warm the Feedscrew, and Ten Minutes to weld it. It was after 5:15 when I punched out with only Mile left to close up.

It was a Fast Food night for supper.

The Injection that I am being scheduled to have by the Surgeon is not called Cortisone and is supposed to be like a Gel in the joint itself. Even when I looked the product up On-Line, it did not make any references to Cortisone. Of course companies have been know to change Names just for Marketing.

Missing Brace and Temporary Fix.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

From experience I have learned not to put my Thigh Wrap Brace on before going to work because the climbing, sitting and getting out of the Truck causes it to make its way down my leg. Once I’m dressed, I bring it with me in its Case, then put it on after I arrive at the Plant. When I arrived at the Plant this morning, I could not find the Case. I opened the passenger doors to be certain it had not fallen down where it could not be seen. I hobbled around for the rest of the day, trying to figure out what happen and how did it fall out of the Bag it was in?

The PTA only added to the Stress. Once everything was ready to start welding the Hard Surfacing Powder came out way too thick, so much I had to grind most of it off before continuing. Resetting the numbers, we were ready to try again. Seconds after the “Begin to Weld” button was pressed I watched the numbers change before my eyes. That is something that has happened many times. I even proved it to Mile and Vinnie by having them push the button, just to prove it was the Machine not me causing the problem. It took Three Hard Restarts to make the PTA follow the numbers I wanted. Everything worked well until the last Three Inches before it did a Cross Country Turn. Two more restarts and I was able to complete the job.

I called Kathy at first break to look for the Brace, but she could not find it. I also called the Surgeon’s Office and talked to the Assistant. The wait time for Hip Replacement Surgery is presently Two Years. Looks like the Injection might help me out until then. Our Friend Gerry has been on the Wait List for over Two Years and other parts of Canada are longer.

I did a touch-up, while another Feedscrew was warming up in the PTA. I have to use a Vernier and sometimes Micrometers to be certain that I am adding enough material. Once I know the size needed, I lock the Vernier to make it easier. Mile comes along and unlocks it to measure every little bit of the Flight. I had to show him, that since I wear Heavier Gloves that was impractical, then demonstrated how I was doing it. He walked away, but occasionally when I was measuring, I could see him watching me from the corner of my eyes.

There are now Two Feedscrews resting comfortably in the Sandbox, slowly cooling down along with a couple of Touch-Ups that are nearly ready for shipment.

By the time I got to Wyandotte Chiropractic Center, because I had not worn my Brace all day, I could barely hobble. Richard worked his magic, and I walked out barely using my Cane.

A few more errands later I finally arrived home and within minutes had located the Case with my Brace inside, in the Apartment. That was a relief. We shared a Store-Bought Thin-Crust Hawaiian Pizza for supper.

Hoping tomorrow is a better day.
