Happy White New Year.

Our Location today is at Windsor, Ontario.

For some reason my back was starting to feel like I should be up and moving but it was still dark inside our Apartment. When I looked at the clock there was no mistaking it was time to get up but why was it so dark. By opening the Balcony Blinds there was the answer. We now had a White New Year’s Eve.
This morning.
We barely finished breakfast when the high Winds returned not quite as bad as yesterday but when you combine 34 MPH wind with SXXW it’s not fun being outside. At one time in my career I was often exposed to worse but that was then.

Kathy sent out a Happy Anniversary Wish to our daughter Karen and son-in-law Greg who will spend the day celebrating their Twentieth Wedding Anniversary.
Since we didn’t have breakfast we had Grilled Cheese Sandwiches for lunch topped off with a piece of Strawberry Rhubarb Pie for dessert with Frozen Raspberry Tea as a drink.
This afternoon's weather.
We spent most of the day catching up on all the News and every Blog that we follow. The Wind didn’t slow down until after it was dark outside. Notice I didn’t say the Sun set because we never saw it all day. Instead of worrying about the News we spent the evening watching Hallmark Christmas Movies. We enjoyed a Caesars Salad for supper in front of the Television.

Kathy and I would like to wish all our readers a Safe, Happy and Healthy New Year. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.

High Winds Leave Us Gasping and Small Feast.

As mentioned in our Blog many times both Kathy and I have Sleep Apnea therefore we use CPAP Machines as a way to keep us breathing every night when we sleep. When we lived in our RV Fulltime we were never worried about power because we used an Inverter that used Battery Power to keep us going. Now that we have moved into the Apartment we are plugged into the building’s own power source.
This was out High for the day at 9:30.
Shortly after Midnight the Winds in this area started picking up and by the time we finally woke up at 8:30 we had lost power Four Times. Those outages were only momentary but each time our CPAP Machines would shut down before restarting. Imagine what it is like waking up gasping for air each time that happens.
An Hour later this was our temperature.
While we were having breakfast we sometimes had a hard time speaking to each other. The Wind speed had increased to include gusts of 50 MPH make lots of noise off the Balcony Rail. We figured a way of solving this dilemma so we started making our List.
As we were busy getting caught up on our Computer reading our daughter Karen called with the results of Greg’s family get together. She also made us an offer we could not refuse.
Lunch was Lite having Vegetable Soup with a couple of Cookies and a Yogurt Cup for dessert.
As soon as that was done we were out the door. Our first stop was a nearby Shoppers Drug Mart in search of a special Compression Glove that helps ease the Arthritic Pain in Kathy’s Hand. Somehow the one she had just disappeared and even though we practically turned the Apartment as well as the Car upside down we couldn’t find it. They had what we were looking for but only in the small size. I was determined to find just the right sized Glove to help control her pain.
The second Shoppers Drug Mart at the Tecumseh Mall had the perfect sized Compression Glove. As soon as we were comfortable in the Car Kathy put the new Glove on and within minutes could feel less pain in her Hand.

Our next stop was Guardian Storage where after collecting our Mail we headed to our Climate Controlled Storage Unit. With our List in hand we were able get a number of Toiletries as well as our Battery Backup Units.
Our next stop was the Zehr’s grocery store to get the few things on our List that we could not find in our Storage Unit.
We finally headed over to Karen’s house in Tecumseh where the only one there was Sanford. He immediately brought out his latest toy to show us and cherished the attention that he was getting. It breaks our heart when he watches us leave in disappointment through the Side Window next to the door.

With the high Wind still blowing I dropped Kathy at the Front Door of the Apartment before going to park the Car. I was really glad I did that because the Wind nearly blew me off my feet and if Kathy had been with me she would have certainly had a problem.
Scalloped Potatoes, Ham, Sweet Potatoes, Carrots and Grilled Pineapple.
After bringing everything upstairs Kathy busied herself making our supper from the Leftovers that Karen had put aside for us from Greg’s family get together. It was a Small Feast all the way to dessert. It was a very satisfying meal. Thank You Karen and Greg. We really enjoyed the meal.
Cute Cupcakes.
I tried setting up the Battery Backup Units by reconnecting their Batteries. They have been in storage for nearly Four Years and seemed to have lost their charge. All we can do is hope we don’t lose power tonight and leave the Units plugged in overnight. If that doesn’t work I’ll be finding replacements really fast.

We watched a couple more Hallmark Christmas Movies tonight before watching the 11 o’clock Local News. The wind is picking up again. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.

Heavy Rain and Projects Nearly Complete.

Our Location today is at Windsor, Ontario.

We were up shortly after 8:00 this morning but it was already too late. Looking outside the Balcony Door and seeing the large water Puddles in the parking lot meant we’d be spending most of our day inside.

Thinking we’d be a little more active today we had Cereal for breakfast then we brought our Coffee/Tea over to the Computers. We had some interruptions when the Rain was actually being driven against the Windows. That only made us feel more like we should make it a Two Cup Morning. It was nice catching up with what our friends are doing in the southwest this Winter.

Once the inside chores were finished it was time to eat. We had Grilled Cheese Sandwiches for lunch along with a Chocolate Pudding Cup for dessert as well as a cup of Tea.
This is not Fog but heavy Rain.
Looking outside the weather hadn’t improved any at all. The Rain was coming down with so much intensity that it looked like a heavy Fog had set in.

Since I still had my tools in the Storage Room I set about installing the Lights under the Cupboards. I needed to clear the top of the Counters so there was room to mount the clips. With the LED Light Strips having such short cords they were installed near the Microwave. That did require me using some of the Wire Clips meant for another project. Kathy liked the way they turned out.

After putting everything back on that Counter I continued installing the Halogen Lights over by the Sink. They use more electricity but since we had them in our other Apartment we’ll use them here. It was a little tricky to install the Screws in exactly the right spots but I managed. The only problem we had was I used some of the Wire Clips on the LED Light Strips and the Rain was still coming down so that will wait until tomorrow.

The next thing I needed to complete was the Data Entries on our Expenditure Spreadsheet. Something got in the way a few times this week so today was perfect to finish that chore.

Kathy made Macaroni and Cheese for supper along with a Chocolate Pudding Cup for dessert. We then watched more Hallmark Christmas Movies that we had missed. Of course when we went to watch our 11 o’clock Local News it was preempted with a Football Game. Something else we’ll have to do tomorrow. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.

Plans Changed Again.

Our Location today is at Windsor, Ontario.

It was hard to believe that we didn’t have anything really planned for today. Yeah I had planned on finishing Data Entries but we know what happens every time we make plans.
We slept past 8:00 this morning and took our time reading Blogs, News and checking the Weather. We made it a Second Cup morning before getting our morning chores completed.
Still thinking we’d be having a simple afternoon Chicken Noodle Soup for lunch with a piece of Fruit Cake as well as a Yogurt Cup for dessert was all we needed. Of course washing it all down with a cup of Berry Berry Tea brought it over the top.
One of the things we haven’t done since moving in the apartment was to check our Bank and Credit Card accounts. Most of you remember the problems we’ve had in the past and have related to them. Guess what they haven’t changed. Being that we learned a long time ago we travel carrying Two Credit Cards. After a jumping through all hoops for the first card we were told that because we haven’t used our new Access Cards yet the representative could not help us. We’ll have to find a nearby ATM to activate them. We lucked out with the second card and after only half the hoops we were in our account. All that just to see our accounts.
While I captured a few pictures of our Sunset Kathy was busy going all out cooking Steaks from our freezer that we picked up at Smart and Final in Blythe California for supper. She then added Spanish Rice as a side before topping it off with an Apple Sauce Cup for dessert then Coffee/Tea to drink.
After cleaning up the table we sat down to watch a couple of Hallmark Christmas Movies. That’s where we realized that some of the movies we thought that we had seen were actually continuations of some we had already watched. Another thing we realized is we are enjoying these movies over the world unrest that seems to be dominating the news. As the song says “Let’s give peace a chance”.

Using Up Leftovers, Working Out, Recording Expenses and More Movies.

Even though we’ve had to turn the heat on in the apartment last night it was just too much. The high temperature for today was 52 F (11 C) from Midnight until 9:00 this morning when the temperature started a gradual slide for the rest of the day. Those warmer overnight temps had us tossing off the Bed-Sheets and trying to cool off.
We spent the morning getting caught up on our Blog reading especially since we didn’t spend much time on them last night. When it came time for lunch Kathy recreated the food brought home from yesterday’s Family Gathering. We ended up having Turkey Sandwiches with Cucumbers as sides then we finished the quarter Berry-Berry Pie for dessert.

It was close to 1:00 when I headed out because I needed to let lunch settle. When I arrived at Planet Fitness I still felt punky from the large amount of Snack Food that we dined on yesterday. The fact that it has been Six Days since my last Workout also did not help. After Donating Blood on Monday I had to let my arm heal then the Gym was closed for Two Days. It will take a few more days before I’ll be able to rush from One Workout Station to another while I get back in the routine. By 3:45 when I was leaving my clothes were again fitting much more comfortably.
Back at the apartment after cleaning out my Gym Bag I settled in on my Computer. This time wasn’t to do any reading but to do more Data Entries to our Expenditure Spreadsheet. The pile of Receipts slowly went down as they were recorded.
For supper Kathy created a Garden Salad and added the last of the cut up Turkey and Hard Boiled Eggs to it. We also finished off the raw Vegetables we brought home yesterday. For dessert she served us each an Apple Sauce as well as some Nanaimo Bars for dessert with Berry-Berry Tea to drink.

Even though Christmas itself has already passed the Hallmark Christmas Movies are still on and we watched Two of them before watching the 11 o’clock Local News tonight. There are few more things I want to finish off in the apartment tomorrow. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
