Touring Changes To The City.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

We both enjoyed a mug of Sleepy Time Tea before packing it in last night. Kathy went to Bed, while after adding an Extra Strength Tylenol to my other Medications, in hopes of calming yesterday’s Hip and Shoulder Pains, I sat back in my Recliner. That was only a Three-Hour Nap before I started staring at the ceiling and realizing a few things I may have jumped the gun on. I went to join Kathy in Bed and started thinking of something totally different, like why is this different than that. Two Hours there, then back to the Recliner, before finishing the night in Bed. Kathy was already working on her Computer, when I came out of the Bedroom.

After a Yogurt Cup and Cookies for breakfast, I had barely checked The Weather Network, when Kathy wanted to go for a ride. There went our Plans for working on the Trailer and Storage Unit. That will mean, that by the end of the week, we will start sweating the moment we step outside.

Once inside the Car, the question of where to was asked, only to get the answer, “Where the Tents are by the water.” We were past Tecumseh when the berating started. I pulled to the roadside asking for more information? The answer was, “You know where”. We ended up in Belle River where there were lots of personal Tents for family outings, but no food vendors. More berating had us headed back towards Tecumseh, looking unsuccessfully for food tents. Instead we stopped at a Subway to use a Coupon. Our sandwiches reminded us why we haven’t eaten there in Years.

Back on Riverside Drive, we past plenty of Parks where we stopped but never got out of the Car. A number of Ships and Personal Watercraft on the Detroit River, made for cautious boating. The further we headed into Windsor, the noise from the Detroit Grand Prix made it difficult to hear one another, without closing the Car windows.

Before long we had driven under the Ambassador Bridge into the Old Sandwich section of Windsor. We circled around to see the Duff-Baby House that was built in 1798 and is the oldest structure in the city of Windsor. I had seen it before it was renovated, because I owned a house less than a Mile away. Kathy was borne and raised in LaSalle along with raising her own family there, so she never knew that it existed.

She was amazed how much things, nearby had changed, so I gave her another shock. I drove north bound on Ouellette Avenue, that is Windsor’s Main Street. She barely recognized anything. Buildings had been demolished, refurbished or replaced. It was a crying shame, if I do say so myself.

Back at thee Apartment, Kathy researched the Dates and Times of the Windsor Art in the Park, and the LaSalle Strawberry Fest, trying to find something different to do. Luckily, they are now on separate weekends, rather than competing at the same time.

As a way of cutting back, we had less Perogies than usual for supper along with an Apple for Kathy and Mandarin Oranges, for our dessert.

We later watched Star Wars; The Last Jedi”. I had seen the original movies, but not these newer releases.

Hoping to be back to our task tomorrow.

Twisted Hip and Pulled Shoulder.

With Two Nights in the wrong direction, they really make a person wonder what they are doing that is causing it. Last night, I tried something bold and went straight to Bed, without even trying to straighten my Neck and Shoulders. Even though, I was again struggling to sleep I stay put for the next Three Hours. Desperate to sleep, I took another Extra Strength Tylenol and a single ZzzQuil capsule before sitting back in my Recliner. Two Hours later, I was just starting to feel the first signs of drowsiness so headed back to sleep in Bed. It was over Four Hours later that I woke to laying next to Kathy and the Sunshine streaming from the Open Balcony Door Blinds into our Bedroom.

I could barely move from my achy joints, though feeling slightly rested, wobbled my way into the Kitchen. It was only minutes later that Kathy joined me, but I still could not figure what to do for breakfast. I asked and Kathy answered, “Toast with Jam”. It still took minutes before I could compute that chore, but it helped us to survive until lunch. I knew the Blinds had been closed before I headed to Bed but Kathy denied opening them.

Enjoying our Coffees at our Computers, gave me time to check The Weather Network. It would be cooler than yesterday but it would work better for us. One by one we got ready to go, before I realized just how close it was to lunch. Instead of eating out we enjoyed yesterday’s Leftovers from the Pomegranate Chinese Restaurant. I warmed both plates separately but added saucer of water to rehydrate the Rice to its just cooked texture.

Not wanting to come home to dirty Dishes, we cleaned up, before heading out. Kathy had questioned how much drinking water we brought along, but in the end really appreciated it.

It actually felt slightly strange driving the Truck down the road. Since it had sat for so long, I allowed extra stopping distances as a safety. A lot of dust accumulates on the Rotors and Pads in Nineteen Months that has to wear off.

We soon arrived at Guardian Storage only to find the Office closed. We headed back to our Climate Controlled Storage Unit, to organize for what would be added from the Trailer. With time this Unit will be emptied out as well. Working on loading the Truck of things we will no longer need, we suddenly remembered to call our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa. They are into RVing for weekend getaways, so they will be able to use many things, like Chock Blocks, Sewer Hoses and the extra Camping Chairs. After Two Hours loading up, we were soon on our way to Amherstburg, but something did not feel right. It felt like had twisted my Right Hip that was replaced less then Two Years ago.

While Kathy visited with Melissa, Kevin worked with me unloading the Truck. He saw that I was struggling and kept saying that he would get it. My response was that I wasn’t dead yet. The Hip Pain was probably caused from my climbing into the Truck Bed. His eyes grew wide when I showed him my traveling Hardware Store.

We all sat in their Screen Room talking for another Hour. Of course Melissa brought out some of her Homemade Fudge and Brownies. “Warning, resistance is futile”. They are that good.

After saying our good-byes, we were soon headed for home. It was just like old times backing the Truck into its assigned parking spot. The problem was when I went to get out. Luckily, there are grab handles to lower myself with. Unfortunately, that aggravated the heck out of my Shoulder.

We shared a Store-Bought Thin-Crust Medium Pizza for a late supper. Thankfully, the Homemade Sweets had held us over.

We’ll keep pecking away at this chore until it is finished, or we have Doctor’s Appointments. It will take getting used to being active, doing what we are doing, at this time. Then we will get used to an entirely different way of traveling.

Hoping for a better night’s sleep, even with the additional Hip and Shoulder Pain.

Truck Purrs, Good Walk and Choking In The Restaurant.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Just when things were going so well, I had another of those nights that was spent going back and forth between my Recliner and Bed, all while trying to sleep. I was feeling worse when I got up, then when I went to Bed.

We enjoyed our breakfast snack but tended to rush our Coffee at the Computers while getting dressed. The Computer showed a high of 81 F (27 C) later this afternoon, so we wanted to get things done outside as early as possible.

Having left those skin tight Coveralls in the Car when we went for lunch yesterday, we went downstairs dressed as if it was 81 F (27 C). Too bad the Northeast Winds going through the Vortex between the Two Buildings, only felt like 55 F (13 C). Down by the Car, under the bright Sunlight, the cold was forgotten.

There was a little added wiggling the Batteries back in place and after getting all the Cables reconnected, it was a simple mater of turning the Key to hear that smooth hum of the engine. Just around that time, the Landscaper that takes care of the property Landscape parked at the rear of the lot. Seeing Kathy and I standing by the Truck he asked, “Are you thinking of selling your Truck”. Kathy instinctively said “No”. Once the Trailer is gone, do we really need the Truck?

We headed upstairs to cool down and have Hotdog Wraps for lunch along with a glass of Iced Tea. I was feeling the same way putting the New Batteries in, as I did lifting the Old Batteries out yesterday. I needed to sit a bit longer, before heading back out.

That was when Kathy surprised me by saying, “Let’s go for a walk”. Instead of heading towards the Ganatchio Trail, she headed towards Riverside Drive away from the direction we normally walked. The sidewalk there is totally open to the Sun’s Rays. Luckily, we had brought our Hats and Extra Water. Heading south on Dieppe Street, we connected to the western end of the Trail. Straight ahead under the Tree Lined Section were park benches that we gladly took advantage of. Another ten minutes later, we were walking past our Car, when Kathy said, “Let's go for a ride”.

Not sure where we should go, I said, “Let’s eat out”. And Kathy agreed. We have lived here for nearly Seven Years and driven by the Pomegranate Chinese Restaurant countless times, but never went in. Looking at the Dash Clock in the Car, it showed it was only 2:45. Imagine our disappointment when the sign on the locked door showed they opened at 3:00. Kathy was uncertain what to do. I said, “We’ll find someplace that wants our business”. Remember the other day when I said a lot of Restaurants are struggling to stay in business, it just happened that the Manager saw us at the door and followed us to our Car to open early for us to get out of the heat. Something like that gesture will bring us back.

The food was wonderful and reasonably priced. The Air Conditioning felt wonderful until everyone’s attention was focused on our table. As I have mentioned before, we both have Sleep Apnea which is brought on by a flap in our throats. That same flap can cause you to Choke on your Food or Saliva. I was just about to perform the Heimlich Maneuver on Kathy when she finally stopped Choking. All the Waitresses were by our table and even the Cook was looking out of the Kitchen. They were happy, though concerned when Kathy said, “I’m okay”, but she wanted to hide under the table. The good news is, she’s okay and we have another cooked meal waiting in our Fridge.

The Weather Guesser on the “6 o’clock Local News” gave us a forecast of clear skies, with no Rain and comfortable temperatures for the next week. On Other News, fuel prices are continuing to fall.

We later watched a few episodes of “Law and Order, Special Victims”.

We now have Plans for tomorrow and any day we can get things done around the Trailer.
