More Dreams and A Good Walk.

Anyone that has lost someone they loved to a disease such as Cancer, practically feel their Pain and wish they could stop it, reverse the process making them once again. Having personally administered the injections to help ease the Pain without causing more, wore at my being while still trying to be a Father to our children. Now, dealing with Kathy’s Dementia, even though I am not seeing any physical Pain, I am watching someone that knew what had to be done, where we were going and when we would get there, struggling to understand the obvious parts of her life.

After only a brief nap in my Recliner last night, I made my way to Bed. Kathy was already sleeping allowing me to get comfortable, before she turned over to hold hands. That was the Kathy I remembered and try to keep in my heart. Time passed, 2:00 then 4:00 and all was well, until 4:30. That was when Kathy started saying that we had to go Home. She did not seem to understand that we were Home sleeping in our Bed. No, we had to go where we have our furniture. A Half Hour passed before I was able to convince her of such along with wearing her CPAP Mask, which she did but only for an Hour.

Starting my day before 8:00 because we again had to go where our furniture was. Even as she stared at the Bedroom and Livingroom contents, it took time before it sank in.

I changed things around for breakfast making Parfaits, using each a Yogurt Cup and the Leftover Strawberries from the Fridge. Again, Kathy did not remember what happen through the night.

With our Coffees at the Computers, one of the first things I needed to do, was to confirm my appointment for tomorrow. I barely finished reading the Blogs we follow by noon.

When I create our Homemade Salads, I slice a head of Lettuce for Two Days for the both of us. By the time I sliced up the Cherry Tomatoes, Green Olives, Onion, Pepper and Mushrooms, my back was starting to complain. Adding the Feta Cheese and Low-Calorie Italian Dressing and it was a feast. Unfortunately, like my Omelettes, it was a bit too much for Kathy.

For the longest time I have been trying to convince Kathy to go for a walk outside, but she always has an excuse of why we can’t. Knowing that it would help the both of us, I finally got her onside to take a short walk. Directly behind our building is the Ganatchio Trail that can be used for Bicycling, Jogging, Walking or Walking your Dogs. It has been lengthened over the years but for today, we only needed a short block of it. From the parking lot we headed east over to Carling Cresent before heading south to Cedarview Street then west until we reached Betty Street. That was just over a long overdue Half Mile Walk, but it is a start that will help the both of us.

In the Apartment we needed to open both the Balcony Door and Bedroom Window to cool down. The 73 F (23 C) with a light breeze coming from the Northeast was comfortable. We talked about what we were having for supper when our daughter Karen called to see how we were doing. That was when Kathy told her that we were going out to see her brother Danny. That was the first time I heard that mentioned ever. Maybe later this week.

Since the Salmon I had defrosting was not yet thawed, Kathy decided that we should only have Macaroni and Cheese for supper, so we did.

The “6 o’clock Local News” talked about a variety of things.

From all the fresh air we had on our walk, Kathy had a nap during the News. When she woke up, she started asking where the Lady that was here had gone. It is hard to convince her that she was dreaming.

No Television tonight, and Kathy has already gone to Bed. Hopefully, we will sleep better.

Grip and Twisted Back.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

All I keep hoping for is to get a good night’s sleep while doing it mostly in Bed. After only Ninety Minutes in my Recliner last night, I thought that I could make that come true but there was a problem. The moment I lay down in Bed, Kathy turned over and grasped me by my arms. I interpreted that as an act of Love, but I was in Pain and not from my Neck or Shoulders, I was only partially in Bed, and my Back was twisted more than I could bear. I did not move for nearly an Hour when she released her grip and rolled to her other side.

I had to walk around the Apartment for nearly Ten Minutes before I went back to Bed. I made certain I was connected to my CPAP Machine while still standing and she was facing away from my side, before even getting in Bed for a second time. Five Minutes later, we were holding hands again.

I started my Day by 8:00 by getting things ready to serve breakfast as soon as Kathy joined me. I had all my Blog reading finished, our Juice and Cereal on the table and our Coffees at our Computers, before I woke her. They say that the more you sleep, the more you want to sleep and that is not good.

Kathy said he felt rested but did not remember holding hands or when I joined her in Bed.

The last time we went shopping, I added a loaf of Bread in our shopping cart, and it was a good thing. When I was about to make sandwiches for lunch today, I reached in the wrapper of the older loaf, only to have it completely crumble by the touch of my fingers.

Though the outside temperatures only reached 56 F (13.6 C) this afternoon, the Thirty-Nine MPH Wind Gusts kept us alert as it rattled the Privacy Partition against our Balcony Railing. Thankfully the noise stopped before supper.

We were actually sitting at our dining table enjoying Sauteed Zucchini, Potato Slices and Sliced Ham, while watching the “6 o’clock Local News” was on. Not much that we did not already know was going on.

After a few things tomorrow, we’ll be heading out doing errands.

Cooler, Self-Reliant and Tired.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Click on the pictures to enlarge.

No matter how hard I tried to sleep in Bed last night, it did not happen. After a couple of tries that left me staring at the ceiling, the decision to finish the night in my Recliner was made, and it worked. There have been Comments made on past Blogs that there are Beds that can accommodate both our needs. A mix of a Bed and Recliner built into one, but not possible for us at this time. When I woke to start my day, though not perfect, I felt somewhat rested. Since I did not sleep in Bed as much with Kathy, she needed extra time in order to feel rested.

When I first turned The Weather Network on, it showed it was only 30 F (-1 C) but through the course of the day with the help of the Sun, our area would reach 47 F (8.6 C), though the Northerly Wind kept it feeling colder. Looking down on the Ganatchio Trail behind our building everyone was wearing Cold Weather Gear.

We started out with the last two Strudels for breakfast before having our Coffees at the Computers. There was plenty of reading to get caught up on, as well as Local News reports.

We chose to have Hotdog Wraps for our late lunch, as a way of getting Protein, with less Carbohydrates or Calories.

Back at the Computers, there seemed to be more Breaking News on both sides of the International Border.

On the “6 o’clock Local News”, there was an important message from our Canadian Prime Minister “Mark Carney”, how as a Country, we will become more self-reliant on our own manufacturing. Besides that, we should be seeing improved weather conditions coming our way.

We finally had Macaroni and Cheese for a late supper, before we cleaned up the Kitchen and Dishes.

We watched a few episodes of “Forensic Files” before calling it an early evening. Hopefully, we will both be in Bed early tonight.

We’ll be running errands tomorrow.

Another Mid Night Dream.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Though this is a Sunday and not a Weekday, it felt like recent history was repeating itself. Unlike Wednesday at 4:00 in the morning, I was tipped back in my Recliner today when the Bathroom light started shining in my eyes at 2:00. Thinking Kathy must have been sick, I began to wonder what was going on. I was even more shocked when she came out of the Bedroom to turn on the Kitchen light, before returning to the Bedroom. She then came out totally dressed carrying the Shoes she intended to wear.

I tried disconnecting from my CPAP Machine, while still wearing my Mask I asked what was going on. Her response was that he called saying to come and get him. When I tried to rebuff what she said, she suddenly could not make out what I was saying. With my Mask off I explained it was only 2:00 in the morning and she was dreaming. Again she claimed he called to come and get him. When I told her both the Phones had been near me, it was 2 am and she was dreaming, she continued to resist until I asked “Who Called”? She stood there like she was stunned and did not move until I told her to go back to Bed.

After I reassembled my Mask and shut all the lights, I headed to Bed for the night. When I noticed that Kathy was not wearing her CPAP Mask, I asked her to put it on. When she waved me off, I turned on the Bedroom light to change her mind. It worked and we were soon holding hands for the rest of the night.

Waking just after 8:30, the first thing I did was start getting things ready for breakfast. The Weather Network has not even come on my Computer when Kathy came out to join me. With our Pastry and Juice, we sat at the table talking of how we slept last night. When I brought up her Dream, she knew nothing about it.

At 12:30 we shared the last Store-Bought Thin-Crust Medium Hawaiian Pizza with extra Mozzarella Cheese for lunch.

At 1:00 we watched Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince part of the series. We could not watch it last Sunday due to the Masters Golf Tournament.

Later we enjoyed Perogies for supper, just before Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief came on,

We again talked about last night’s Dream. Kathy then admitted that she used to Sleep Walk when she was much younger. I’ll keep my eyes open if more happens.

Reverse Psychology, Errands and No Television.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Click on the pictures to enlarge.

Last night I thought I would try a bit of Reverse Psychology by going to Bed first thing. Unfortunately, it worked so well that not even an Hour later the Pain in my Neck and Shoulders was so intense, that I headed to my Recliner for relief. That was where I woke this morning, when I heard Kathy leave the Bedroom, then saw her stand there looking at me. It was time to start my day.

By the time Kathy had made the Bed, I was already in the process of cooking breakfast. With Three Frying Pans going, it still took a Half Hour before we were eating our Veggie/Ham Omelette. Even though I continually make adjustments trying to make them smaller, it was too much for Kathy to eat her share.

While we were eating, Kathy mentioned that she kept patting my side of the Bed last night, noting that I was not there. She sleeps better, just knowing that I am in bed next to her. I prefer sleeping in Bed as well, because I get a better-quality sleep just like Kathy. It is my Body Pains that have me leaving for the comfort of my Recliner. That position seems to realign my Joints.

It had Rained most of the night and continued through the morning. It stopped around 2:00 and the temperature had risen to 64 F (18 C) so we headed out to do those errands that were not done yesterday.

Our first stop was to Guardian Storage to collect our Mail. Surprisingly, our Mailbox was full.

Next, we were heading for Dollarama, when Kathy suggested we stop for lunch since it was past 3:00 and we had eaten Six Hours earlier. We swung into Arby’s where their Gyros were on special for $7.00 and they do not scrimp on the Meat. They say don’t go shopping on an empty stomach, I say don’t go on a full one. Just like exercising.

We picked up our supplies at Dollarama, before going to Zehr’s grocery store. Though we kept our spending down, we still needed to use our Folding Two Wheel Shopping Cart to bring our purchases up to the Apartment.

The moment we stepped inside, we started to sweat again. No matter how often we complain, the Toronto Office continues to raise our Heat. Kathy immediately opened the Balcony Door and Bedroom Window to cool things down.

It was close to 9:00 when we enjoyed cup of Tea with a couple of Cookies for a snack. We never turned on the Television today.

Not sure what we will be doing tomorrow.

Foggy Start.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Click on the pictures to enlarge.

After such a restful sleep on Wednesday night, I was hoping for a repeat, and it almost happened. After only an Hour in my Recliner, I was certain that I would spend the rest of the night in Bed. After only Two Hours my Neck and Shoulder Pain was too much. Back in my Recliner, I was certain that I would soon be back in Bed to spend the rest night. Sunlight shining in my eyes did not wake me at 8:00, but the Livingroom was much brighter than earlier. Looking out the Balcony Door the adjoining neighbourhood and the parking lot below were shrouded in a Heavy Fog.

I was still reading the Blogs we follow, when the sound of Kathy making the bed caught my attention. Breakfast was served in a couple of minutes thanks in part to getting things ready beforehand. I had to tell Kathy to come and eat after getting our Cereal and Medications on the table.

We spent our morning checking other things on our Computers, while it turned into a Second Cup Morning in order to accomplish that feat.

It was past 2:00, when we had Hotdog Wraps for lunch. Kathy’s had Onion, Mustard and Ketchup, while I garnished mine with Nacho-Cheese and Salsa.

The “6 o’clock Local News” showed that we will definitely have a Cooler Wet Weekend with a couple of nights going below the Freezing Mark. Thankfully, it is Spring.

It was past 7:00 when I reminded Kathy that we needed to have something to eat. She suggested that we share a Store-Bought Thin-Crust Medium Pizza with extra Mushrooms and Mozzarella Cheese. No snacks were needed for the entire evening.

We watched a few episodes of “Law and Order, Special Victims Unit”.

Since our food stocks are starting to dwindle, we will be out running errands tomorrow.
